Very nice wired headset for PS4

The Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 + Super Amp for PS4 Pro and PS4 headset is a very nice wired sound experience for the PS4. They are comfortable to wear during long sessions and seem geared for FPS games that use team chat. To use the headset, you plug in the headset cable into the Super Amp Audio Controller (puck), and the puck plugs into the PS4 USB slot. The cord is quite lengthy so sitting far away from the PS4 isn't an issue. However, it does effectively tether the wireless controller. There are volume and mute controls on the puck, along with some LEDs. It can be a stretch to reach for the puck to adjust the volume mid-game; there are no cord controls or controls on the headset itself. The headset is simply a different setup than other popular wireless headsets. Most features are controlled through an app for your iPhone or Android phone. The app connects to the headset via a Bluetooth connection that was average in quality. The main features of the app include an audio equalizer and the ability to either boost or kill chat. The chat boost is especially useful in team FPS games with loud action that can drown out the voices of your team. The headset itself has a tension band underneath the bridge that takes the weight off of the head. The ear pads were comfortable over my ears and had the added bonus of a slot where the stem of my glasses could fit so that my glasses don't get squeezed against my upper cheek. I loved that feature. The sound quality was very nice. I used the setting for boosted bass and treble and I could hear small details clearly within games. There is a bit of an echo feel to the sound, but that may be a result of the feature that boosts the sounds of footsteps within the game. Once you setup how you like your sound via the app, I don't think that the echoes will be a big deal. Overall, this is a nice wired headset for the PS4. I had some small issues but the quality of the headset build, audio, and app makes this a contender for best wired audio on the PS4.

Stellar headset for comfort and audio depth

I reviewed this headset based on use with both my PS4 and gaming desktop.
To start at the beginning, the unboxing: the packaging is sleek and carefully designed to prevent damage. Inside the box you have the headset, headset cord, mini-usb power cable, optical cable, superamp, and the manual.
Setup is easy, plug in mic boom, plug cord into headset and amp, plug power into amp and PS4 (or desktop) and done. There is an optical cable if you chose to use it, however to my amateur ears I could not tell a difference, so opted to forego the optical setup and have one less cable to deal with. There is also the option to connect directly to your phone / tablet without the superamp. Note, if you wear glasses there is this really cool feature built into the cup that will allow you to create a channel for your glasses and improve comfort.
As far as comfort goes, this headset is top of the line. I am a snob when it comes to headset comfort, as the majority of headsets in all price ranges hurt the top of my head. This one is the clear winner when it comes to weight, comfort and temperature. The headset overall fit is precise and of the quality I expect for the price. The adjustment allows a wide range of head sizes, they adapt easily between myself and my 8 year old and fit us both perfectly. The cup foam is just the right level of pressure while still feeling cool to the touch. After 2 hours of wear they aren't hot, too much pressure or too heavy. The mic has good placement and I have comfort knowing that my 8 year old can drop them (because he did) and they won't break.
On to the important stuff, the audio. The sound is crisp, with amazing depth and range for both mic and sound. I am in love with the background noise elimination, mainly when my son is complaining loudly that my turn is over. I found that these headphones gave me more audio clarity than I get with my mid level wireless ones, so now I'm hearing new background nuances of the game that I had previously missed. I was a bit perplexed in that I need to turn up the superamp to full volume for a comfortable audio level in the majority of games I tried. I think you may have a hard time getting the audio up to an uncomfortable level, however since that isn't normally a goal for most, I don't have any issues with this.
Lastly, know you are getting a WIRED headset. I read many reviews on this headset about how the wires were a negative. If you don't want wires, don't buy this. It does create the wires running across the room situation, depending on how close you sit. This is ok for me, I am gaming on a 60" and sitting ~15' away with no issues or pulling from the cables. Would I prefer all of these option in a wireless headset, YES I would, however I'm happy with the quality provided and will deal with the wires. Overall a great quality headset with outstanding audio, and makes me feel like I took a step up from my occasional social gamer status.

PS4/PS4 Pro best headphones out there

Turtle Beach once again made an awesome headset for PS4 users. The Elite Pro 2 Works for PS4/PS4 Pro/PC as well as anything with Bluetooth. This headset is packing a slew of features. I've used this on my PS4 Pro with great results.
First, the Comfortability of these headphones are fantastic, They are extremely well built with a nice weight on your head. Memory foam earcups mold over your ears and keep them cool during long sessions with Apex Legends and Overwatch kept your ears cooled. The cushion between your ears and the fabric always stay adjusted. There are "customizable" speaker plates that give your pair some personality but I was unable to test this. I do think these are some of the most comfortable headphones I've used when it comes to gaming on PS4. Perhaps the most interesting of these headphones is that it provides extra comfort; There is a small channel in the ear cushion that allows people with glasses to use these headphones for hours upon hours at a time. Kudos to Turtle Beach for this.
The pro gaming mic picks up everything you say but none of the background. The noise-canceling works great, You don't have to yell things into the mic but simply just talk. If there are sounds in the background it drowns them out such as a fan or a baby crying. You can adjust the volume of your own voice (but you can also do this on PS4) to not be as loud to the other players.
The sound of the Turtle Beach - Elite Pro 2 for PS4 sounds dramatically good, You can hear every footstep to explosions. Resident Evil 2: Remake was one of the best sounding games when using these headphones. Monsters such as the lickers can be heard moving from such far back and the Sound of Mr. X walking around adds to the tension. Battlefield V felt like bullets was zooming pass my head. Elite Pro 2 are DTS Headphone X certified and the drivers sound amazing. 7.1 headphones really do put you in the middle of your game. Did I mention that these headphones have BASS. Massive bass is embedded into these things with presets of more bass including Bass Boost, Signature Sound, Bass and Treble Boost, and Vocal Boost. If you need to hear that booming sound with less distortion these are it.
These are also good with music and call quality from testing on iOS devices and you can take calls while gaming. While the downfall to all of this is them being wired this is the best method for keeping everything connected. Overall these are some nice headphones and well designed. I certainly wouldn't use these with PSVR but on their own, they are amazing and feels nice. You won't be disappointed if you pick these up and there aren't that many good options for PS4 anyway so these are my go-to headphones for console gaming.

Ordered these when my Astro TR A40's went out after about 3 years... Opted for this as it was on sale. Decent headset. Sound quality is average. Their mobile app that pairs with the SuperAmp works fine. I think calling the amp a "SuperAmp" is a dramatic overstatement. It is literally just a large volume knob.

I love these headphones. I have neighbors, so I can't always play my ps4 through my home theater setup. These definitely do the trick. They sound fantastic. The clarity and bass is excellent. Very big sound from this headset. The mic is also very good. I transmit my voice very clearly and it seems to cut out the background noise so my teammates can easily understand me. They fit great and are very comfortable to wear.I am very pleased to own these and definitely give Turtle Beach a big thumbs up.

Setup: Plug USB plug to USB outlet on PC or Playstation 4 as shown in the diagram you are given for setup. Download the app Turtle Beach Audio Hub to your phone. Start the program and it will ask you to Bluetooth the headset to your phone. Start a game on your PC or Playstation 4 or 4 Pro and adjust the settings on your phone to your desired audio preferences. Adjustments make a BIG difference in the sounds. The app comes in handy for switching between music/movie/game modes to whatever you are doing at the time and these modes are extremely important because it does make a dramatic difference in the sound. It is that simple!!! You need to make sure all jacks are securely plugged in.
Features: The headset is very comfortable for those long gaming nights. I don’t believe it is noise canceling, because you can still hear most everything that is going on around you. The microphone comes completely off the headset so that you can use just the headset for listening to music, movies, etc. (I would prefer it was retractable or pushed back into the base so that I wouldn’t lose it by just randomly taking it out and laying it down somewhere, so be careful.)
Playstation 4: The Playstation sounds unbelievable when you have these plugged into your gaming system. Nobody is going to sneak up on you without you knowing they are coming to get you. It picks up every sound as if you were in real life. It really gets you into the game.
Recommendation: Maybe a bit pricey, but I would say the headset is well worth it just in sound alone.

Great gaming headset, with a major drawback.

My previous headset was the Turtle Beach Stealth 520. Those were a great budget headset (and wireless). I got the Elite Pro 2 as an upgrade. I play online a lot and often stream my gaming on YouTube.
First, the positives. From opening the box, these are packaged well and you can tell they are a step above your average headset. They have a nice weight to them. The top headband is metal with a cushion floating below it and they have enough adjustment to fit any head size. The ear pads are extremely soft and comfortable, which is great for extended gaming sessions. They are magnetic, so you just pull on them and they pop off. There is an adjustment strap on the back of the ear pads for those of us that wear glasses. You pull the strap and it creates a channel in the ear pads to allow extra room for the legs of your glasses. Although I wear glasses, I haven't used this feature as the pads are soft enough to not push my glasses legs into my head.
As far as sound quality, these are great and you can tell they are a big upgrade compared to my Stealth 520s. I predominantly play FPS games and the ability to detect exactly where sounds are coming from is crucial. I can easily pick up footsteps and immediately determine exactly where they are coming from. This alone has helped me increase my overall stats as I have a distinct advantage over competitors that either don't have a headset or have a lesser quality headset.
Now, for a couple of negatives. There are two major drawbacks with the Elite Pro 2 headset for me. The biggest being that this headset is wired. I know that you get better sound quality with a wired headset. They do give you long wires with it. My problem is that I have a 65" TV that I sit 17' away from. With my PS4 at my TV I have to stretch the wires down from the TV across the room to the couch. It basically creates a clothesline across the living room, ready to catch anyone who doesn't see it. I know that I'm in the minority with this as most people sit closer to their TVs and/or have gaming monitors that they use. You have to plug the SuperAmp into the PS4 and then another cord goes from the SuperAmp to the headset.
The second major drawback is the SuperAmp itself. As far as controls, it is just a volume knob, nothing else. You have to download the Turtle Beach app to change the settings for the headset. To me, this is a step backwards from previous headsets that had the sliders to change settings. Having to turn the knob on the SuperAmp to adjust volume and then pull out your phone to change any other setting is just too much. Some of the settings in the app are the ability to change how much game sound versus chat sound that you are hearing. There are presets based on what type of game you are playing. For example, FPS or racing. Having the volume on the SuperAmp, actual settings adjustments in the app, and having my laptop running for streaming is a lot to handle at once. However, I have found my ideal settings for bass, mid and treble as well as game to chat ratio and i just never change it. Also, when you mute the mic, you are completely muted, even to yourself, that means that if you have the game volume up and say something to someone in the room, you may inadvertently scream at them as you can't hear yourself.
One small negative for me is that the mute is a switch on the cord just down from the ear cup. Having to fumble for it quickly if I need to cough or sneeze is frustrating. The Turtle Beach logo in the center of the SuperAmp would have been a perfect spot for a mute button.
Overall, I believe the pros outweigh the cons in this case. This is a headset for the hardcore gamer and it is built that way. You will experience better sound and the mic is much better quality compared to previous ones.

Great sound, but a bit cumbersome to use

Pro:
Comfortable
Good surround sound (for PS4)
PS4 and PC compatible (switch in the app)
Con:
Hub and app control can be cumbersome
Buttons and function spread out between the hub, wire, and app
Must connect to pc to update firmware
Messy wires (when using both USB and Optical)
Build:
The build is solid. The band has a self adjust padding, but can only be adjusted at three ¼ inch increments. The cups are soft and easily removable, and there’s adjustment to allow better comfort for people with glasses. The plates on the sides can be switched out. The mic is flexible and removable.
There are no buttons on the headset, instead all the functions are spread out. The mute button in on the wire, while the volume control is done on the hub. The rest of the controls are done via the app. That’s the one gripe I have with this headset. I rather have at least the mute button and volume control on the headset. I don’t like having to feel around for the wire and hub usually sits out of reach when I’m gaming on the couch.
The hub is a puck with a volume dial and RGB LED. It has connections for optical and mini usb, a bluetooth button, a 3.5 connection for the headset, and an audio out for streaming. The wires could have been sleeved together for less mess, but I can see why they didn’t.
Comfort:
I have a wider head and usually can’t wear headsets for a long time without feeling uncomfortable, but I can wear these for a longer session. It does feel a bit heavy but it doesn’t press down on my head as much as other headsets. I do wish the adjustments has more smaller increments rather than only three. Overall comfort is good.
App:
The app is where most of the settings are at. To set it up, you have to connect your headset to your phone like normal headphones before you can launch the app. You can adjust the EQ, change the preset settings or create your own, turn on sound boosts, and change the interface to an always on display. Just a note, you can’t adjust the game and chat audio mix in the app unless you’re using both the USB and optical connection. The “superhuman hearing” can be useful as it boost the subtle sounds like footsteps and distant gunfire.
I did find it annoying that when you launch the app, it told me to update the firmware, but in order to do that I had to download the app for the pc and connected it to the hub. The pc app is only for firmware updates. Seems unnecessary and would be simpler to just be able to do so with the phone app like any other headphones out there.
Sound:
I only used these for PS4 gaming, but for that it’s really good. It’s lacking some boom but the surround is effective and better than other headsets I’ve had so far. You can clearly discern the direction of the sound. In Apex Legends, I can hear the echoing footsteps fade in and out as they run into the next room or are above me. However in Devil May Cry 5, sounds are more distant and lacks the punch. The normally loud sword clanging sounds like someone dropped a spoon. I probably need to change the settings in game and in the app.
These aren’t the best for movies. The dialogues are clear enough but lacks the bass to make an impact.
Brief test for the PC, and they sounded ok. Since the app lacks advanced settings, it’s not going to be as good as a dedicated pc headset.
Conclusion:
These are great for the PS4, especially when using it with the optical cable. The design is a bit cumbersome and would have been better if the buttons were more unified. Still, the sound is good and the surround effect works well. And while they’re acceptable for media and pc uses, it’s really not this headset’s strong points.

Turtle Beach has been around forever with their gaming headsets. While primarily for the console gamer they work perfectly well for PC use. Whether for streaming movies, listening to music or playing your favorite game on a PS4 or PC, the Elite Pro 2 with Elite Superamp gaming headset should be considered. Yeah, they are a bit pricey but man are they worth it.
Truth be told I'm not much of a console gamer but with Division 2 coming out I wanted a comfortable headset with surround sound for my gaming PC. These are loaded with great features.
In the box you get the headset, the SuperAmp with dial volume control, a boom mic, a 10 foot micro USB cable, an optical cable and a 6 foot 3.5mm cable. Connecting the headset to your console or PC is easly with the USB cable from the device to the SuperAmp and the 3.5mm cable from the SuperAmp to the headset. Then just plug in the mic boom and you are ready to rock and roll. The SuperAmp has rubber pads on the bottom and enough weight where they will stay put on your desk and not slide around.
I did have an initial setup problem with Division 2. While the headset worked perfectly fine with most of my games, Youtube and other streaming services, for some reason while recognized by the PC and the game I couldn't get sound out of the headset. I had to go to Windows audio settings while the game was running and force the system to output to the headset. Just a minor inconvenience that took me a while to figure out but all is good now.
These are easily the most comfortable headset I own. I love the over the ear cups that fully cover my ears. Each cup swivels back a full 90 degrees so they lay flat across my collarbone. The earcup padding and covers are extremely soft making long gaming sessions possible with no discomfort. The padding easily conforms over glasses so you don't get that nagging pressure on the temples. The strap has just the right spring in it so they are not too tight or too loose and the strap padding also adds to the comfort.
Fine tuning the sound is possible using your smartphone and the Turtle Beach Audio Hub software. Simply download the proper version to your phone (or tablet) pair them via Bluetooth and you can tweak to your hearts content. There are presets for different modes (game, movie, music, stereo). You can also pick a preset for the type of game you are playing (First Person Shooter, Streamer, Indie, Battle Royale or Racing). You can also boost bass or treble or both, or boost for vocals. There are even slider adjustments for the output and mic levels. The result is a highly adjustable audio experience.
The price point on these originally was about $250 but I see they have dropped the price to just under $200 making it an even sweeter deal. I've retired my other headsets and use these exclusively for almost everything gaming and even for streaming my favorite movies and videos.
Go for it if you can afford them!!! You won't be sorry!
