When did they change the unlocking policy? Do not recommend unless you really intended use is for Verizon Prepaid.

What they dont tell you is that you can't use this on a postpaid account. Now I have to hand over a $35 restock fee. Thanks Verizon.

Bought 3 of this iPhone last week, returned all to Best Buy today! Just like the other review noted, Apple started locking this phone on 7/18.

Bought this for my parents but I can't activate on verizon because bestbuy didn't read the barcode properly.

Horrible never buy prepaid they are not unlocked! Locked $200 phone and can't activate or return due to sitting under Christmas tree until Christmas

I loooooove the iPhone SE, which is the reason I purchased this phone to replace my beloved 4.5 year old iPhone5. I didn't want a larger phone, so the SE is a perfect replacement. The problem is that my SE (ordered online, picked up in store) was somehow locked, preventing me from even activating it with Verizon Prepaid. I tried to activate online, but that didn't work, so I had to call Verizon (which is what we all want to avoid). I hadn't even tried to install the SIM card, but as soon as I gave Verizon the MEID they said it was locked by the retailer and they couldn't do anything for me, that I had to return it to Best Buy. Fortunately I was helped by the very helpful Trevor, who was patient enough to try for over an hour to resolve the issue in store. Thanks to Trevor, it's finally activated and working. No one is sure how the phone arrived locked, but it sure was a hassle to unlock it. Also, be aware when you purchase this, Best Buy cannot activate your service with Verizon Prepaid - you have to do it online yourself, which may be a deterrent for many buyers.

I am a Verizon Customer(Start Here). Activated it and put $150 into my prepaid account to clear any holds - just because I do not like constraints & they use the funds for my monthly fees($40 per mo). Crazy, I see this same iphone on Craigslist for as much $ and more $. If it says it is a Verizon iPhone...go to Verizon! Or use it as an iPod...it is better and costs less than an iPod. Great deal - play by their rules.

If you want a new iPhone for cheap this is by far the best option! Like many others have mentioned this bad boy is unlocked and you should be able to use it on any carrier other than Sprint and Sprint's MVNOs.

Put in TMobile post-paid SIM and it worked fine. Most Verizon phones comes unlocked since iPhone 5 (check their website). All the other sales at $199 for the SE comes carrier locked and requires some kind of commitment to the carrier. This is the only deal that I could find that is unlocked with no carrier commitments.

This iPhone is a steal at the sale price of $200! It has the right LTE bands for both AT&T and T-Mobile (Band 12 - for reception inside buildings). And, it is factory unlocked, so you can use it with any GSM carrier worldwide. I am currently using it with my post-paid AT&T account. The A9 chip in this phone is fully compatible with the new iOS 11 coming this Fall.

If you ordered this phone, please open it and try it before you return it. It is actually unlocked and a great deal for a new device. The phone comes with a verizon SIM card that you DO NOT have to use. Just pop your sim in and you are in service!

Thank you Best Buy for still offering this phone. I was a little taken aback when I saw how small it was after using a 5” screen for so long. This phone is great for using one handed and has a good battery life. I highly recommend this phone for anyone having doubts.

This phone is unlocked for GSM (T-Mobile and AT&T). $199 was a great price to buy a 32 GB Model of iPhone SE compared to regular price of $399.

I ordered online and had it delivered to my home. The phone itself is wonderful. My low rating is because I had to return the device. I could not activate it with Verizon Prepaid. Apparently the device and prepaid SIM card weren't scanned correctly at the Best Buy warehouse before it was shipped. That means it cannot be activated with Verizon Prepaid or anyone else, and it's not something that Best Buy store personnel can fix. I couldn't even get a replacement because it was out of stock. Best Buy needs to ensure that items are properly scanned before they leave the warehouse. I wonder how many of the complaints about the phone being locked are due to this scanning issue.

Verizon and apple are colluding to brick these phones if they are not activated on prepaid Verizon service for the required time commitment. you've been warned. apple's servers were updated today 7/18/2017 to not allow any of these to be activated unless it's with a Verizon prepaid SIM with active service

Great phone. I am on ATT Unlimited Plus and got this and put my android sim in it. It works. But to get the hotspot unlocked you have to contact ATT and tell them your new IMEI number (If the play you have allows the hotspot). I chatted online and they did it for me. They also said i really needed an updated SIm since i came from android so they are sending me one. You can also do it in ATT stores.

After reading all of the reviews stating that the phone is GSM unlocked, I bought it hoping of using it as a spare / back-up device in the family. Unfortunately the unit I got turned out to be locked to Verizon and required activation of Verizon pre-paid service. It rejected att, t-mobile and even Verizon (post-paid) SIM cards. Goes back to Best Buy..

Phone was good but locked. phone has good features. but not better than the regular iphones.
