Poor app experience

It's okay

Not as advertised (By Salesman)

Both of them said it would work fine. After messing with it for about 6 hours, I gave up and took it back to the store. Upon returning it, the person in customer service said the problem was that a soundbar of any kind will not work with a receiver. Its funny that a person in customer service knew more about the product than the people selling them do.

Posted .Thank you for your feedback. Our SmartCast Soundbars come with a remote to control all functions and settings but they can also be adjusted through the SmartCast Application. This gives our customers two different ways to access settings and make changes.

Great soundbar - great price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased a projector from Best Buy (Epson Home Cinema 1040 - great projector!) to show movies in the back yard. Unfortunately, I did not give enough thought to the sound. For our first movie, I used a computer speaker system with a subwoofer and connected them to the Blu-ray player, the sound was not good. I decided I needed something a little better and louder for movies outside. I went to Best Buy and they had the Vizio SB3831-D0 sound bar and wireless subwoofer system on sale for a special buy of $99.00. I picked it up and used it for our next outdoor movie and it was GREAT! It was very easy to hook up using the HDMI in and out. The sound bar was very crisp and clear and loud enough to be heard anywhere in the backyard. We watched "King Kong" and the deep bass was clear from the wireless subwoofer I put in the backyard patio. I am very pleased with this unit and the price was great!

HDMI Interface Challenge

Sounds great, some bugs

We use the bluetooth capabilities every day. We have a VIZIO smartcast 4k tv that SHOULD work flawlessly with the sound bar. But after about two months the soundbar was having connection issues and stopped working via HDMI ARC (which is the recommended connection). ARC enables you to just use the tv remote to change the soundbar volume and it will automatically turn on along with the tv. I had to connect it via optical audio cable, which worked but who wants to use more remotes than needed.

An even better version of the previous 3.1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously owned the C6M, and upgraded to the D0. It has all of the same great things that I love about the previous model plus the added feature of SmartCast. The sound quality is great, the design is very aesthetically pleasing, and the wireless sub connection is flawless. I got this one during the sale ($100 off) and you seriously can't go wrong for the price. Even at it's original price of $270, it's still a good competition to the other sound bars in that price range. The initial Vizio app connection was a little tricky, but I set it to "Link" mode and that solved the problem. The app allows for easy layout of all the settings, so you can get everything dialed in to your sound preference. I like my sound to be a little bass-heavy, so the sub does a great job of bringing up the low end. I'll continue to buy Vizio audio products!

The only issue we have is having to constantly pair the sub to the bar before watching a movie. It sits directly next to the TV stand on the ground so I'm not sure what the problem is. The sound is great, but still a pain to have to need to do this

Very Good Product

I have them in a room that is roughly 14' x 16' with a very high ceiling. Also, the room is open on one end, so sounds doesn't really get "trapped" in the room. The TV is on one wall and I sit across the room (longest direction). I wish the volume could be regulated more precisely. It seems that I am frequently trying to get a volume level that is between the settings. The remote is easy to use and understand.

Sounds great, but the sub isn't flat

I had purchased this online and spent the extra money for the smart cast version because it was my understanding that you received a flat sub as opposed to the typical square sub. When I picked up the item I could see the square and went over my understanding with the manager. He agreed 100% and admitted that it's been a common issue with the BB website. To their defense, if you scroll through the images it does show the square sub later on. Either way, it wasn't a deal breaker for me and I still took it home. It was easy to set up with my Vizio TV, I was able to use the HDMI arc output, and an optical output was also available. Pairing with my Bluetooth on an iPhone was very simple as well. The bass is controllable but I personally thought it was a bit much when watching regular tv. So I flipped the switch off for now, but it's all personal preference. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase, considering the speakers on my 50" vizio aren't very strong.

The sound quality was very good specially with movies and gaming. I can never go back to regular tv speakers again it's 1000 times better with a soundbar.

Excellent Sound quality for the price point

As quoted by few other reviewers, the initial setup - especially pairing with the smartcast app through mobile was not working straight forward. I had to get Chat help from Vizio support to get this completed. Sufficient information is not available in the manual to successfully complete this step. Vizio support provided wonderful support for the setup phase. The audio quality is very good for the price point.

However, the subwoofer didn't power on. Since the sound bar sounds great, called BestBuy for replacement. The replacement came in two days! The sound bar sounds so good with the powerful subwoofer. Grouped it with google Chromecast audio no issue at all. Love it! Thank you Best buy for the excellent service.

Spotify Does Not Cast to Soundbar

Otherwise, I would have purchased last year's model which is nearly identical but much less expensive. The sound quality of build of the soundbar, woofers, and satellite speakers is great, but know that when you purchase this product you WILL NOT be able to cast music from SPOTIFY directly to the soundbar. Pandora will work. Google Music will work. But Spotify is not supported. I have raised this issue to Vizio customer service, Google customer service, and Spotify customer service. It doesn't matter to me who's issue it is to solve, I want it fixed and do not recommend this product until it is. I will update this review once it is fixed. Great soundbar!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So far so good! I exchanged the Polk Magnifi for this unit and I'm much happier with this soundbar. The Polk washed out voices on some content but Vizio handles it like a champ. The overall design was better with the Polk (metal grill vs cloth) and sounded a bit better at higher volume but when it comes to dialogue the Vizio does a much better job, even if the source is in 2.0. Highly recommended!
