My wife and I are quite impressed with this baby monitor. Not only was it incredibly easy to set up initially out of the box with the baby monitor display, but we got both of our phones hooked up to it via the Vtech Baby Pro app in no time at all! The phone app was absolutely free and yields an incredible picture and control of the camera, almost intuitively so.
The HD picture of the camera unit itself is great. So much so that it almost can pull double duty as a decent live security camera if that is how you are inclined to use it when your little one gets old enough to no longer need it directly monitor their sleep and other activities. However, the night vision is not exactly fantastic. It is perfect for monitoring the audio and movements closer to the camera, but it gets pretty blurry and pixelated about 6 feet away in true night vision mode. Ergo, if you are going to wall mount it above your baby’s crib, ensure that you check its night vision quality first in your specific positioning and use case.
There are a few little issues with the camera that I have noticed. One is that the temperature gauge is completely uncalibrated, and you cannot do it manually. I have a calibrated, good quality thermometer in a few of my pictures next to the baby monitor, and you can see that there is as much as a 3-degree F difference in temperature. Ergo, I do not think we are going to relying on this as a temperature monitor, but that concerns us very little as our house has good HVAC and doesn’t suffer from crazy temperature swings.
A couple of thoughts that I feel I should share are as follows. First, this device in its full functionality depends on a really good wifi signal. If you have struggles with either speed or good signal coverage with your wifi, you may be better off with a different model. We used this over at our sister-in-law’s house for our nieces and found that with their wifi, we had terrible lag and image quality that made it almost unusable. Also on the note of wifi, a consideration for some is that this device, while having some security built in, is wifi-dependent in its best use and therefore may be susceptible to the security risks like hacking. There is good information out there about the security risks of baby monitors.
Altogether, my wife and I love this baby monitor with our great wifi and will be using it with our little one! Thank you for reading and I hope this review brought up some good points!

Initial Impressions -
The camera and display were well packaged. After opening and spending a few minutes figuring out which AC adaptor goes to
which item, I charged the display and plugged in the camera. The two parts paired together automatically and began to display
video. I moved the camera around the house to a few locations to check signal throw / distance. Prior to baby monitoring I
tried poor lighting in a closed, a sunlight flooded room, pointing into bright backlighting and a few other scenarios. The
camera performed well in all of them including having bright light behind the area to be monitored.
Build Quality - The PTZ camera Assembly feels solid. The monitor and plastic shell are what I would describe as adequate -
however I would not suspect it survive repeated drops. This is one negative I noted considering having kids around and
a general lack of restful sleep means that things get dropped !
Portable Monitor - The portable monitor is enclosed in a plastic shell and has a very bright and clear display. There are settings
for brightness, color control, volume etc. I spent a few minutes trying out all of the settings via the built in menu system.
I was able to "do everything" intuitively - all of the symbols used made sense and no settings were obscured in any deep sub
menus.
MyVTech Baby Pro app - IOS - Simple Installation and signup. The controls are obvious and well placed. I was able to review
a live feed with slight delay on my phone both on wifi and remotely. Overall latency was good - i.e. barely noticeable and
in line with what I get from my external security cameras.
What I love -
- Battery integrated into received means you can take it with you or use your phone !
- Clear Screen - easy to see and good nightvision
Room for improvement -
- Had some troubles with the android app after updating firmware and the app causing me to
have to reset cache and all settings for the app. Issue has not re-appeared since update applied.
IOS version did not have the same issue and seems to work fine.

This little system is super helpful. Whenever I babysit I like to make sure I can see and hear her at all times while in her crib.
In such a small package you get everything you need.
The monitor has a big enough screen to view when you are a little ways away and not right up looking at the screen super close. So it gives me a little room to move around and still have visibility.
The quality of the screen isn’t perfect but you can make out necessary objects from afar.
The antenna is there but not sure how much it helps whether up or down. But then again I don’t have a huge house.
The camera is good. A little wonky looking but I like that the screen is round which allows me to have a wide angle view. Again that’s what I need to need to see as much as possible
Mounting it might be a little hard if you don’t have a proper bracket.
You might need to get a little creative. Also the monitor stand bends back a little too far for me. I wish it sat a little more upright.
The sound is decent. I’m not having a conversation with the baby but I can hear screams and cries.

This is really an all in one smart video baby monitor. It has a really nice HD 7” screen to monitor the camera as a base station. The camera has a 2K (1440p) sensor that gives a downsampled 1080p feed (much sharper than normal 1080p) giving a clear image to see whats going on. The base station display doesnt need to be plugged in as it has a battery in it that lasts quite a while so basically how I use it is I carry it around the house while I do things and it works very well. If your not in to having a small iPad size screen you can also use the phone app which gives the exact same functionality but with an obviously smaller form factor.
The camera itself has a night light built in that you can control the color of which is awesome. It can pan and rotate and all. You can play lullaby music through a speaker on the camera which for me alleviated the need to have a radio, tv or bluetooth speaker on that I was previously doing to play such white noise and music.
One of the best things I feel like is that this works just like a security camera does where you can get alerts on your phone for stuff like crying, motion etc making it invaluable as a tool for monitoring your baby.
Honestly it has way too many good features to list this review would be far too long but know this thing literally replaces like 8 different devices and has higher quality than any other ive tried with a larger screen, better sound, better picture its just perfect!

Signal Loss Hinders Baby Monitor's Reliability

Initially, we were quite satisfied with this wireless baby monitor, as it operated flawlessly during the first month. Nonetheless, we started experiencing signal loss issues, even though there were no changes in our home that could impact connectivity. The signal merely has to traverse two drywall walls, making this predicament baffling. The monitor's continuous beeping due to signal loss interrupted our rest, and the subsequent anxiety about potentially missing our baby's cries compounded our discomfort. We chose this monitor specifically for its non-WiFi functionality, as we prioritized privacy and opted against connecting via WiFi. Regrettably, this particular model has fallen short of our expectations.

This product is pretty terrible. Not sure why Wire Cutter gives it such a good review. The app constantly disconnects from the monitor, making it useless without the parent unit. And the connection on the parent unit is pretty shoddy as is. This was a waste of a lot of money. I wish I had purchased something different.

Great All Around Baby Monitor - Single Camera Only

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This VTech Smart Baby monitor looks like a lot of other ones. You get a camera that's set up in the baby/child's room. And a monitor (or parent unit as VTech calls it) which is paired to the camera and provides a color video and sound feed from the camera dropping into black and white night vision mode if the light drops below a certain brightness in the room. The display is actually 720p, you get 1080p if you're connected to it via the app. Also in the box are charging adapters and a wall mount for the camera. So far, all typical stuff.
Set up is pretty straightforward though there are additional steps to pair the parent unit to the app so that you can access the video remotely. Pretty much plug in the camera, plug in and charge the parent unit, and you're good to go. It turns on and off like most, with a long press on the power button. The camera and parent unit are already paired which is nice so you get an immediate video feed. The parent unit supports two way audio, pan and tilt of the camera, volume adjustment, brightness adjustment, and reports temperature. Video quality was good, both on the parent unit and in the app.
Where things get interesting are the additional settings. First, there's a lullaby/melody menu where you can play a selection of songs. But where VTech elevates things is that there's also a night light mode where you can activate a multicolor light on the camera unit itself. As a parent who has a "sleep light" for older kiddos which also plays melodies, having this with the camera itself means baby can be eased into the same routine as the other kids without needing to add a second device to their room. You can also control the brightness, color, and runtime from the parent unit though your time selection isn't very configurable - 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or just always on.
Another cool feature is motion detection. No matter who you are, at some point, you want the bright screen of your baby monitor to turn off. Most auto turn off the screen after a few minutes and this one is no different and the timeout period is configurable. What's nice is that if you're at the stage where you need to peek at what's going on with movement, you don't need to have superb hearing to pick out rustling from the inevitable hiss that comes through on baby monitors. With motion detection, the parent unit will automatically turn on the screen and in most cases, that's enough to alert you something has happened.
And of course, the other cool feature is being able to remotely monitor the camera, not just from within your own home connected to your wifi, but away from home as well. This can be nice as a way to check in or see how baby is doing even while you're at work. The app also supports the two-way talk feature though there's definitely a decent lag when away from home so I would only use it as a comfort feature or to have baby hear a parent's voice, but not as a way to talk to an older child or convey actual information.
Now, what are the places where this misses? Well, with my existing monitor, I can pair to multiple cameras and cycle through them. I started with one camera, needed a second, then got a third because I couldn't find a replacement monitor to buy standalone. So one of the things I did was scour the quick start guide looking for how to pair a second camera. It seems that with this VTech model, you don't get that option. You can either buy this unit with one camera or buy their two camera version. You can't later add a second camera as family grows and you have multiple rooms to monitor. Another issue is that sometimes, it seemed the camera was not accessible via the app. I'm not sure what the cause was, so don't want to necessarily blame the VTech unit as I run into issues with my smart TV where it seems to lose internet connection randomly about once a week or every two weeks. But the VTech did lose connection more often so it's ability to stay paired may not be the best.
So, great all around baby monitor solution so long as you're fine with not being able to expand the number of cameras and maybe intermittent dropping of it's wifi connection.

Vtech has been around forever. They make so many amazing products and not just tele phones . Here you have a baby monitor that doesn't hurt the bank. 1080p camera with night vision. Plus you get a 360 degree view that you can control. A nice 7 inch screen to view your child and the surrounding area. Because you never know maybe you left the window open or the house pet was in the room and now wants out of there. It's good to have these features. You can use the 7 inch screen or use the app on the phone to control and view the camera. You get more zoom in the phone than on the screen for some reason. Either way it looks good. Now the only real issue i had is the wifi connection. It might not be the vtech baby monitor itself. I changed my router and i believe that this may be the case. With my older router i was not having issues with connectivity. I solved my issue by getting an extender that i plug into the wall and rarely have the issues of no signal or super laggy image. One thing they can improve on is the lense 1080p is good but 2k one should be standard today.

I recently got my hands on the VTech 1080p Smart WiFi Baby Monitor, and the unboxing experience was impressive. The packaging was neat, and all components were securely placed. The monitor itself has a sleek design with a 7” display, giving a clear and detailed view.
Setting up the device was straightforward. The pan and tilt feature, offering a 360-degree view, ensures you won't miss a moment. The night light adds a comforting touch, creating a soothing environment for the little one.
The installation process was user-friendly, and the mobile app seamlessly paired with the monitor. The app interface is intuitive, allowing easy navigation through settings and controls. Remote access is a standout feature, providing flexibility for parents on the go.
Monitoring my little one was a breeze with the crisp 1080p resolution. The night vision worked exceptionally well, maintaining visibility in low-light conditions. The real-time alerts and notifications added an extra layer of reassurance.
In conclusion, the VTech 1080p Smart WiFi Baby Monitor delivers on its promises. The combination of high-quality video, user-friendly app, and additional features like the night light make it a reliable choice for parents seeking peace of mind. Overall, a solid investment for keeping a watchful eye on your little one.

Great baby monitor

I was pleasantly surprised with this baby monitor. In the past, we've used several different options. Some with just a handheld non wifi monitor and some that are wifi only where you monitor through your phone. I wasn't sure what to expect from one you can do both with. The handheld monitor that comes with this is huge and I was very happy with how clear it is during the day and night vision actually works super well. This is by far the easiest baby monitor to set up. If you are doing just the handheld monitor it's really just plug both in and turn them on and you're up and running. I love that you can talk through the handheld if you need to and the nightlight controls are built right in. The panning and tilting is awesome and actually shows the entire room if needed. Setting up for the phone was pretty straight forward as well but we are mainly using the handheld at this point because of the age of the child and they aren't super mobile at the moment. This is such a neat set with the color options and soft light if your baby doesn't mind the room not being dark. And having the option to completely turn of the nightlight is great too. I highly recommend this monitor for people looking for an all in one nightlight and monitor with many options.

Fantastic, baby monitor starting with the display of the monitor. It is sufficiently large to see detailed glance battery life is excellent it last well enough and is portable due to the built-in battery that I can go do things while my baby sleeps. The range of the monitor seems to work well the home that I am in is 2200 sqft two stories, made of wood and not masonry And even gets outside well enough that I can do yardwork. The ability of the camera to tilt is fantastic the built-in light and sound works and replaces the machine that we had so that we have less devices in the baby room. The infrared seems to work well, and the enlarged sensor appears what it claims by providing excellent day and night. i’ve used the monitor now for three weeks and love it. Set up was easy and allows for either use over Wi-Fi or without it one recommendation from what I’ve noticed is that if you do not have a strong Wi-Fi connection device does not work as well as you may want so it’s important to make sure that you have a good Wi-Fi connection at home with adequate upload speeds .

This is a great baby monitor option if you are wanting something accessible with both the handheld monitor as well as your smart phone and also has other great features.
the package includes the camera, ac cord to connect and charge, and the handheld monitor. It is easy to set up and connect to your wifi network as well as your phone so you have access from other locations. The handheld monitor has a large range and works even across your house or outside.
The camera itself has a large pan range so you can move around the room.
The screen of the monitor is HD and the picture is great, even at night. It also has walkie talkie capability so you can speak to your baby through the screen.
One of my favorite features is that the bottom of the camera has a seven color night light that also adjusts brightness. It makes it much easier to see at night when going in for diaper changes or if your baby doesn't like a completely dark room. It also has soothing sounds, music, and lullabies. The camera is mountable but also works great on a surface or night table as well.

I tried several baby monitors in the market—including separate components like cameras, lights and noise machines—VTech proves to me that a quality product will always stand supreme to any other sub-brand mediocre solution in the market.
First of all, build quality is great. From the camera, to the handheld monitor—I know that I have a product that will last. The buttons are responsive, and the screen is clear.
Connectivity between handheld and camera is great as well. It is almost plug and play, and the camera is very responsive to the handheld (even the app, actually, which I will discuss shortly) especially when I press the buttons to pan the camera. Resolution combination is great, for the camera as it is displayed onto the screen.
The system itself has a ton of great features—the camera comes with a night light that I can change colors of--- this helps improve with the night vision. By the way, the night vision is decent, but with the night light, it complements the visibility of the camera feed. The camera also has the usual voice transmission which sounds a little radio-y on the other end, but is good enough to call the attention of our baby, and still have him recognize that it is us. The equipped speakers are good enough to play the sounds that it comes with—melodies and different white noises that are very helpful The camera is equipped with a temperature sensor as well. One thing to note is this camera has an almost full circular view-- very handy when our infant becomes a toddler.
One of the best things this system has is the ability to pair phones as an added handheld, and it comes with a great app that mimics the functionalities in the handheld. There is some learning again to be done as the app usage flow is not exactly the same as the handheld but Vtech was able to make use of smart recognizable icons that do not require a steep learning curve to master. The app also send helpful notifications as I set up a temperature range for example, so I know when the room heat is not enough for the baby in this winter. It also stores photos and videos that can be triggered remotely. Oh and I love that the app has the milestones (baby stages learning checklist) and activity list that comes in very handy in a convenient wellness tab.
This is such a good product. There are some options out there that are cheaper (and flimsier too), but believe me, this comes in one great package that is well-engineered to work seamlessly together. Every parent with infants should have one.

Decided to gift this for a friend who just had a baby, and I helped them set it up for them. Before anything, let me just say how happily surprised I was with how quick I had this thing up running in their baby’s room. It literally took me less than 2 minutes from opening the box to connecting the camera and the screen to get live video. I used a lot of tech products and have a camera system in my own home, and this Vtech baby monitor was surprisingly ahead of the connectivity game. It didn’t ask me to create an account, it didn’t ask me to login to my WiFi. Simply connect both devices and they liked automatically. I honestly couldn’t believe it because no modern device makes it that easy! Kudos to Vtech! Thank you for making that easy.
Okay now on the features.
5/5 Live Remote and Full HD Quality – Looks good just as it says 1080p, and in night mode maybe more like 720p. Surprisingly, the screen has an option to zoom in up to x24 and zoom out to make the camera a wide camera. I liked that feature and I am sure my friend will appreciate this built in feature to zoom in to their little one.
4.5/5 Camera and LCD Screen – Good quality but it would be nice if the screen was touch screen. Also, there is only 5 volume settings and screen brightness settings, so it’s simple but wish the sound could have a little more options. 20% increments feels like a lot and the camera does not get loud enough for a home with lots of noise. Love the 360 degree pan. My home cameras don’t have any feature like this and this is pretty cool!
One thing I was not expecting from this device was room temperature! My friend and his wife were super stoke about this. I can see this will be helpful for them to keep the baby room at an adequate temperature.
Overall, I gifted this to my good friend who just had his baby, but I would seriously buy this for me when my baby time comes because as I was setting it up I was happy about the ease of use and the quality. Nicely done Vtech, and again thank you for making this truly a pug and play device!

As parents your main goal is to keep your baby safe and ensure they are ok at all times. The baby phase is the most precious and delicate time so having the ability to keep an eye on them while having to do other things is always helpful.
That's where the Vtech system comes into play, it has all the right features and promises remote connectivity with its 7" handheld screen. Does it deliver on all the promises? Lets dig in!
First setting up the system took some placement adjusting as the 360 degree pan and tilt camera needed to be placed at the right angle to enable the full use of this function. Additionally getting through the steps to get the system connected to the home network was a little bit of a chore. This was mainly due to not wanting to connect and disengage from its system settings. I tried at night and gave up, but the next morning I rebooted my home Wi-Fi system and it worked!
For context I have a 1gig speed Internet system with a Orbi Wi-Fi 7 mesh system. So very reliable and fast internet. Once It was all setup and I did the typical Vtech signups and permissions It was off to test the system. Baby was placed in the play area, rotated the camera via the mini monitor and boom crystal clear image feed. One thing I did notice was a slight delay from the system movements once I input and moved the controls. Its not horrible but took a moment to get adjusted to.
Overall after using it for five days straight it hasn't disconnected and allows me to roam the house and still keep an eye on the baby. My wife really enjoys it as she can take it with her as well when she is doing things and doesn't have to feel like she needs to be right there near room with everything off to be able to hear the baby.
In conclusion, if you are looking for a system that is built well and reliable, this system is it. The features are everything a parent could ask for and allows that extra security of knowing and having a watchful eye. Just make sure you have a good reliable internet and wifi connection to keep it stable.

If your that mother or father that can't see there baby or child enough because your at work and they are asleep when you get home and you want to see your little pride and joy but the wife will kill you if you go in the baby's room and wake your little one up because it took him or her 3 hours to finally get you little one to go to sleep. Or worse yet your that mother or father that has to work like 26 hours out of a 24 hour day and your not home. Well guess what with this baby monitor it has you covered. You are able to look, listen and guess what talk to your baby even when your not home with this awesome device.Yes this monitor is in 1080P high def and you can move the camera around remotely. You can pan and tilt the camera to get a better look of the baby or its surroundings. The feature i love most about mine is while at work i can remote access the camera and see my little one and if i see she is awake i can talk to her and say hi or goodnight or have a conversation why she needs to go to sleep because mommy's eyes are bloodshot from being up for the last 15 hours straight.Plain and simple if your looking for in my mind the best baby monitor look no further.
