This is my second external hard drive. The first one was bought about 8 years ago and required to be plugged into a wall outlet. This portable hard drive only requires a USB connection and was very easy to set up. I bought this version because it was $10 cheaper than the version "for Mac". I saved the $10 and formatted this myself. There are step by step directions on the WD website and you can easily google "how to format" the drive and find at least 5 youtube videos. Once I had it formatted, my computer prompted me to use this drive with Time Capture. The first back up when through without a problem and I'm all set up for automatic backups whenever my hard drive is connected. I haven't tried accessing the saved files but the hard drive shows up in your Finder display like any thumb drive or external drive so I imagine when I open the back up folder, I'll see my files organized as they are on my computer.

I am a college student so I quickly ran up all the space on my current laptop. It was easy to transfer all my files and videos over to the hard drive. For the price, I definitely think this is a good buy.

I purchased this drive to use as a backup drive that I can easily store away and use as needed. I have other WD Passport drives and love their convenience and ease of use. The drive is small, fast and compatible with all my Windows PC's, laptop and Surface Pro.

i was looking for an external hard drive which is compact and easy to carry and this Hard drive was the answer! Plus i got it with a little discount which makes it more awesome. Would definitely recommend to anyone who needs extra space for their laptops.

I bought this recently after my work computer decided to go on vacation. It works perfectly. Small enough for me to keep in my bag and has extra storage space to put personal info on as well. I have always been a big fan of WD and will continue to be.

I use several My Passport Ultras for a 3-2-1 backup strategy - (at least) 3 copies of data on 2 independent media, with one offsite copy. The drives are easy to use, reliable for length of warranty (never had a WD internal or external drive fail while under warranty), and lightning fast on USB 3; the speed is tolerable on USB 2. The tiny footprint is plus; one of these drives takes up hardly any room on a desktop or in a briefcase or backpack. I never tried the free Acronis backup software available from WD,as I use two other programs.

The price is right. It has a descent amount of memory. Works very well

In our move from a very old computer to a new one, the computer guru helping us suggested a hard drive such as this. The "My Passport" has worked just as it should, stored data with plenty of room to spare, and was reasonably priced.

Bought this for my parents to use to backup pictures and simple my documents, has plenty of storage and works great, also comes with some backup programs that are easy to use if you wish to go that route for automated pc backups

The 1TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive I bought from Best Buy certainly was a great deal. I bought it on sale, and it holds more than enough photos and other miscellaneous documents than I ever could've imagined.

This is my second Passport Ultra. I liked the first one so well, that I bought a second for my Imac to use with Time Machine. So far so good with both drives. I would recommend this drive to others.

Huge space. Not too expensive. Very handy and portable!!

There are not a lot of brands to choose from with these, but so far the device is performing as expected. Nice speeds and performance in a small size. I also like the comfort of having a 3 year warranty with it.

With a terabyte of storage and reasonable price tag my hard drive has been more than satisfactory. It actually has more space than I need and can even be used as my "time machine" for my mac. Good purchase!

small size, very fast, large storage and good buy!

Bought this to upgrade the space on my xbox one and worked flawlessly. I just plug into my xbox one and format it to it and now have a bunch of extra space for games, saves, and downloads on my xbox one.

Got a great price on sale as compared with other brands for same amount of storage space. I have an older model passport portable HD and it has been flawless so more of a reason for me to buy this one!

So far, I really like this external hard drive, plus it's really small and easy to move around if needed. It's comforting to know I have an extra 1 TB of storage. Plus it was on sale at a great price!

WD's My Passport Ultras are great drives! If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have told you not to buy one—I previously had bad experiences with WD. However, they have changed. Their drives are quality drives now, with a great aesthetic. I own two of these drives now (3GB and 1GB). Pros: • Fast Drives • Great Price • Accessories to customize are nice • Compact • Only needs a single USB cable Cons: None that I've encountered in the last year.
