While Windows Defender is a good free, stand alone product, there are some large functions that Webroot has, that Defender does not.

Pop ups telling me I needed to update this and that software. One locked the browser up and told me to call an 888 number for help (and don't shut down or else.) Well I couldn't take that anymore, restarted windows, searched for Malwarebytes and downloaded the free trial. There were over 250 unwanted files with a dozen malware, about 4 adware, and 5 Trojan found and quarantined. Webroot left all that. PC is working fine now.

The messages referring you to a 1-888 phone number are caused by what we refer to as a "PUA", or Potentially Unwantable Application which will redirect your Web Browser.
