They appreciate that it comes free with certain purchases and offers satisfactory security features. However, some users have concerns about compatibility issues, potential slowdown of their computers, and the relatively short subscription length of six months.

By the time I found it and downloaded it, it had already expired because it was only a free trial edition. complete waste of money for Best Buy. unless they give them to the store for free.

It came highly recommended. Not sure of the problem, but I have had problem connecting to my internet providers website ever since this was installed. Taking back the computer to the store for the second time.

I did not use this as I feel. Norton is better and I had already renewed my account when I bought the new computer. I could not figure this one out when I tried to put it on the computer so I uninstalled.

Had to perform a "system restore" after installing

Installed Webroot, and went through the setup. After initial scan my computer did all right, for a while. On following days, Webroot would show an infection, and ask to remove it. When the "infection" was removed, I could not sign on to the internet, and the only way to get it going, was to do a restore from an earlier date. Got so frustrating, I had to do a complete system restore. Don't know if it was my system, or Webroot, but I went back to AVG free. Not going to "recommend" or "not recommend" because I don't know if it was my computer or the software causing the problem.

I would Never recommend Webroot antivirus, within the first two weeks of having it on my computer I got a virus. The program never seen the virus and still doesnt see it. Had to install another antivirus program to find the virus because best buy refused to let me return it because it was past 14 days from the purchase date. But told me to bring it in and they will charge me to go through it and take a look at it and remove it. So niow im sitting on a brand new computer that isnt worth anything and sitting in a corner. Really irritated with Best Buy.

Webroot doesn't make the test list for AV-Test and other independent labs. Performance reports I did find bothered me a bit. The Yoga 2 Win8 I purchased already had Norton 30 day trial installed anyway.

This came free with a laptop purchase, so we took it. However, it seems somewhat of a "bloatware", and we use other anti virus software anyway. Oh well.... Again, it was free so no biggie.

Insufficient Protection

The software was given to me upon purchase of my new HP computer. When I turned it on and opened a browser it was obvious malicious adware was activated. I installed WebRoot and it started its process, but it never resolved the multitude of issues caused by the, what seemd to be a preinstalled virus, in my computer.
I downloaded the free AVG virus detector and it immediately resolved the issue. It didn't take long for me to lose confidence in WebRoot and I unistalled the software. Too risky to use on an expensive computer that took me months to save the funds to purchase.

Was part of the package deal so I got stuck with it. MS does a good enough job for my needs protecting me. I may just toss it on the kids machine as they need more protection than I do...

I'd never heard of this security product which was automatically installed by Geek Squad when transferring files from my old computer to the new one I bought. I was told it was better than McAfee, which came with the new HP. I had used McAfee (Norton), a known and reputable security system, for years. When it came up for annual renewal, I did so. McAfee advised that Root could interfere with its software, so I deleted Root. I just feel more comfortable with a known product (Norton) that HP had the confidence to include with its system..

Good to have but doesn't cover all the bugs. I wish Best Buy had an app you could just download for half of the price. Some people don't need to purchase the item to only use it once

Topper,
This was likely an issue caused by a Potentially Unwanted Application, not malware. If you ever believe you are infected you can reach out to Geek Squad or our support team for free assistance.

The idea of antivirus software is a good one. This Webroot software was included with Geek Squad support in a package I purchased from Best Buy. After hours of frustration and finally taking my brand new iMAC in for assessment, it was determined that Webroot was causing all the computer crashing problems. Thankfully, the Geek Squad removed it from my computer and everything is working great now!
If you want to save yourself anxiety, do not install Webroot on your MAC. I hope in the future, Best Buy points this problem out to MAC users before they make the mistake I did.

This product was forced on me by Best Buy to "protect" my investment when I purchased a new Toshiba Laptop.
What it actually did was conflict with a Norton security program already installed on the laptop from the factory.
The result was 9 viruses that messed up my laptop in less than 2 weeks time.
It seems as if this disc was used as a gimmick to infect my new laptop so I had to return to Best Buy only to be told software problems are not covered and I was forced to buy their "Geek squad" tech support to get rid of the problem they created.
VERY UNHAPPY!
