The LG 32U701SB 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor is a fantastic implementation of a great concept. I love the concept of having one device function as both a Smart TV and Computer Monitor. The LG 32U701SB 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor performs well in both scenarios. Inside the box, it comes with the following items: The LG 32U701SB 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor itself A monitor stand HDMI cable Small power brick and cable Remote with batteries Installation Guide and Warranty pamphlets. Some specification highlights 32 inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) 60Hz LED VA panel Supports HDR 10 and up to 90% DCI-P3 Color Gamut 3000:1 contrast ratio 250 Candela per square meter brightness 1x USB-A port 2x HDMI 2.0 ports Vesa Mount Standard 100mm x 100mm WebOS Powered by alpha 7 AI Processor 4K Gen9 AI Picture Pro Upscales to 4K AI Sound Pro provides Virtual 11.1.2 channel sound Setup Physical setup was straightforward and the monitor stand was easily attached using the included screws. Two of the screw holes were recessed requiring a little more effort (a thin magnetic screwdriver helps). The stand is simple and only allows tilt adjustments. The monitor feels light with good basic build quality. This is also a smart TV using WebOS so I registered for an LG account. WebOS offers a very intuitive UI, seems very powerful, and has a lot of interesting features to explore. For example, using LG Gaming Portal, I was able to play some of my Xbox games on this monitor without any Xbox console attached. I only needed a game controller connected to a USB hub that was plugged into the monitor’s USB port. I have heard about streaming games but this was the first time I actually tried it and it worked surprisingly well. WebOS also offers a web browser so I think it’s possible to plug in a USB keyboard and mouse and do productivity work (word processor, spreadsheet etc.) by using cloud services from Microsoft and Google. So, you can also do basic computer work without any computer on this monitor. App support is very important for a streaming device and WebOS has all of the major streaming apps that I need (Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Apple TV, Plex etc.) and overall performance was reasonably good. I did experience some laggy performance with Plex and with the initial installation and loading of some new apps but their performance seems to improve later on. WebOS has so many more interesting features that I didn’t have time to test all of them out for this review. Image and Sound Quality Impressions While the display specifications aren’t world class leading, I found the picture quality to be much better than I expected. I was surprised at how good the image quality was when watching videos from Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube etc. I was especially impressed with the vibrant colors, great contrast, deep blacks and sharp images. It has a matte screen which I prefer over glossy screens. Colors are vivid and bright and text is very sharp making this monitor suitable for media consumption and productivity tasks such as software development. For the types of games I play, the 60Hz refresh rate was not a problem for me. All the games that I played during testing (Fallout, Xenonauts 2, and Batman Arkham Asylum) looked and played great. The built-in speakers produce sound quality that is also very good. While bass is limited, the sound is very clear and can get fairly loud with clear dialog. Summary Overall, I can easily recommend the LG 32U701SB 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor. It would be a fantastic choice for someone with limited space as this one monitor can function as both a Smart 4K HDTV and a regular computer monitor. It can even play games and perform computer-like tasks without any game console or computer attached. And if you do have a computer or game console, this monitor has great display quality. I think it’s a fantastic value.
The monitor is easy to setup, attach the leg in to the main body, install 2 screws and attach the base plate to the leg and install 2 more screws. When first switched on, accessibility audio guidance is enabled but it speaks too fast, I thought I got a defective monitor. During the on screen setup process, you first select country then language then on the accessibility settings screen, you have the option to select "set up later" and it will turn off the audio guidance. Next you will provided options to continue either using the remote or the LG thinQ app. Using the LG thinQ app is so much easier than using the remote and I personally recommended it. Initially the setup won't continue at the connect to wifi step, it was due to my wifi router, I had to switch to a different wifi access point for the monitor to connect to the internet to continue the setup process. During setup, you can enable the "turn on via BT or wifi feature" and to launch the home page automatically or not. If you want to use this mainly as a pc monitor, you will want to immediately change the display setting. Either game mode or standard mode and turn sharpness all the way down to zero else the text from a PC will not be sharp. I've been using this 32-inch 4K monitor for a few days, and it has exceeded my expectations. The 4K resolution delivers incredibly sharp text and detailed images. Even though the text is pretty sharp but I can see the individual pixels in notepad app due to the size of the monitor. Words are still reorganizable when zoom out to 60%. Looking forward to 8K monitor in the future. The biggest advantage of the VA panel is its outstanding contrast. Blacks appear deep and rich, making movies and games look much more immersive. Colors are vibrant and vivid. However, being a VA panel, viewing angles aren't as wide as IPS displays, so colors shift slightly when viewed from the side which is a common characteristic of VA panels. But the technology has come a long way and it is not too bad now compare to the previous generation of VA panel. If you are wondering, the speaker is very loud which is good for video conferencing. When connected to pc via hdmi, it will automatically prompt you to connect to hdmi. The monitor feels well-built, and the stand is sturdy. Overall, this is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a large 4K display with impressive contrast, sharp image quality, and great value. Two things I thought could be better are that the menu system is too slow for my liking, it is comparable to those cheap digital TV from decade ago. And the back button on the remote is at the top left of the directional buttons. I am so used to the button being on the lower left but for this monitor, it is the Netflix button and I often press the wrong button and need to wait for the previous screen to reload.

The LG 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor has been a great addition to my setup because it gives me the flexibility to use it as both a monitor and a TV. Setup was incredibly easy right out of the box. Everything was straightforward, and I had it up and running within minutes. I also appreciated how lightweight it is, which made it easy to move around and even easier to mount. I decided to mount mine in my office/game room and despite one small issue, the process itself was simple because the monitor isn’t overly heavy. The 4K picture quality is sharp, vibrant, and looks great whether I’m gaming, watching movies, browsing the web, or working. Colors are bright, text is crisp, and HDR10 makes supported content look even better. While it’s not intended to compete with high-refresh-rate gaming monitors, the 60Hz refresh rate and 5ms response time have been more than enough for the games I play. Gameplay feels smooth, responsive, and enjoyable on my gaming console. One of my favorite features is that it’s a true smart monitor. I don’t have to power on my console or plug in a separate streaming device just to watch something. I can launch Netflix and other built-in streaming apps directly from the monitor, making it function just like a smart TV. That convenience has been one of the biggest selling points for me because I can easily switch from gaming to watching a movie or TV show without changing inputs or devices. The built-in speakers are also better than I expected. While they aren’t a replacement for a dedicated sound system, they’re more than capable for everyday viewing and casual gaming, making this an excellent all-in-one solution. The only downside I found is the location of the power connection. Since the power cord plugs into the back of the monitor instead of being positioned lower or to the side, it can make wall mounting a little awkward. Depending on the type of mount you’re using, the cable sticks straight out and requires a bit more space behind the monitor than I would have liked. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to keep in mind if you plan on mounting it like I did. Overall, this monitor offers an excellent combination of picture quality, smart features, and versatility. Being able to use it as both a gaming monitor and a smart TV has helped simplify my setup while saving space. If you’re looking for a display that can handle gaming, streaming, and everyday use all in one package, this LG Smart Monitor is definitely worth considering.

Bought to use in a trade show booth. Tested with a USB drive and adjusted simple settings in the monitor menu. Confirmed that it will be easy for booth staff to get our loop video running with a few clicks using the remote. Good value

For the price it isn’t terrible, but it’s mediocre as both a TV and a monitor. As a Smart TV it underperforms: Wi‑Fi isn’t 5 GHz, and network issues show up especially with Disney+ and 4K HDR streaming. If you want a TV first and a monitor second, you’re better off with a proper Smart TV. Like other LG sets, it also pushes their streaming service and ads—those can be turned off in advanced settings.

Both this as a combination TV and PC monitor. It works great for both.

For the price does the job. 4K resolution for my PC + HDR and 32”. Looks great and has a clean simple finish. Don’t love the built in smart features but maybe one day I’ll use them.

With a TV in every single room in my house, I’ve used some of them as my secondary or even tertiary monitor for my computers occasionally, but I had never had a PC which was also a TV like this LG 32" 4K UHD Smart Monitor. It is great for my home office. I’d say that if you have limited space or want a minimal clutter desk setup like me, this hybrid screen will be perfect. It runs LG's native webOS system directly on the hardware. That made it very intuitive for me, especially because my main TV is LG. I can jump from a PC display to watching Netflix, Prime Video, or anything else without even turning on my computer, or simply keep the PC running on another monitor while using it as a TV with remote control and all. With 3840x2160 resolution across a 32-inch workspace, I can’t complain about pixel density. Text reads crisp, and HDR10 support with wide DCI-P3 color coverage makes 4K streaming content look vivid and rich. Unfortunately, I miss OLED, especially when used as a monitor. The Wi-Fi connectivity which I didn’t expect on a monitor allows you to stream apps even if your laptop/PC is not on. And you can connect to a controller and play Xbox games. That’s super nice. I wish everything was good news, but unfortunately, there are a few things that I didn’t like that much besides the fact that it isn’t OLED which is understandable considering the low price. OLED is still considerably expensive and the reason why I don’t have a big OLED monitor. Thus, I’m not using that against it. However, 60Hz refresh rate is very old school. Even good old CRT monitors could support that. If you play high-end games, this won’t cut it. You need at least 120Hz, preferably 144Hz or higher. And the 5W speakers are acceptable for casual viewing, but the bass is weak and flat. Also, WebOS is sluggish. That’s not limited to this monitor since I have the same issue with my big LG TV and is the main reason I use AppleTV on it instead of WebOS. A minor details which won’t prevent me from using the monitor as a TV, but I thought I should point it out.

A tad laggy at times but good overall, great as a monitor.

I'm currently using the LG smart monitor as both a computer monitor and streaming TV for the family PC we keep in the kids area. This LG is perfect for my usage and I am very happy with it. The initial setup is pretty painless and the only mildly annoying part was needing an LG account to access some of the apps. It's not a huge deal as I haven't gotten any spam from them but I'm definitely getting account fatigue with all these tech companies. The screen gets plenty bright enough to overcome the natural sunlight from the large window in the room. While this is only a 60hz monitor it does more than a good enough job with motion handling. While I may not want this as a primary gaming monitor it's great for desktop usage and TV/movie watching. The speakers on this unit are also more than good enough for my purposes. They get fairly loud and have enough clarity to keep speech intelligible. I had originally planned on adding speakers but after hearing this monitor that's definitely not a priority. The UI is fairly clean and responsive to inputs, I have yet to encounter any hiccups or stutters during app usage.
