TCL - 75" M8LF Series 4K UHD HDR Mini LED Smart TV with Fire TV (2026) The TCL 75" M8LF 4K UHD HDR Mini LED Smart TV is an affordable, premium mid-to-high-end Mini LED model set for 2026. Built on the QM8L platform, it boasts exceptional peak brightness and vibrant colors. With a peak brightness of 6000 nits and a reported ~2,584 dimming zones on the 75 " model, it achieves deep blacks without blooming, detailed shadows, and vivid hues. It uses a WHVA 2.0 panel for wider viewing angles and better gray uniformity. It performs exceptionally in dark rooms with high contrast and HDR quality, and maintains its brightness well in well-lit environments. Its color accuracy is good for a slim panel, and it can be adjusted to suit personal preferences. It's also incredibly feature-packed, with a great selection of smart features, powerful gaming options like a high refresh rate and four HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ports, and support for all major HDR formats. It has a Motion Rate 480 with MEMC to ensure ultra-smooth motion for sports, movies, and fast-paced gaming. This all comes to offering a balance of premium picture quality, strong gaming features, and smart TV performance without OLED pricing. Designed with gamers in mind, the M8LF features Game Accelerator, Auto Game Mode, and Game Bar for responsive gameplay and easy access to performance settings. And playing games on the PS5 gives you an "Oh wow " effect. The HDMI 2.1 ports are a 60Hz eARC port, two 144Hz ports and a 60Hz port. According to TCL, the eARC port is only 60Hz and is designed primarily for audio return, which, in my opinion, is a mistake. It should be a 144Hz port, since the vast majority of sound bars and AV systems act as switch hubs for HDMI connections and use eARC to connect to the TV, enabling cross-compatibility with other devices, and shouldn’t be limited to 60Hz. Because of this, I have limited my eARC connection to audio, or I use the fiber-optic connection for audio and have my PS5 and an external streaming TV box connected directly to the TV’s HDMI 144Hz connections. I was also surprised that the WiFi was only 6, not 6.5 or 7, which is fast becoming the standard and supports larger data streams. With a 100 Mbps Ethernet port, it is better to use the WiFi 6 connection if you have the equipment. Ports are cheap; a 1 Gbps port would be much better, and 3.2 Gbps would better align with current affordable fiber-optic home speeds. HDR & Processing: Supports Dolby Vision IQ (upgradeable to Dolby Vision 2), HDR10+, and HLG. While the processing is effective for upscaling and HDR enhancement, the “intelligent” modes offer little beyond what normal settings provide. Audio: Bang & Olufsen-tuned 5.1 Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X speakers deliver immersive sound for a thin panel. Bluetooth Personal 5.4 Audio lets you connect headphones for private listening. Built-in audio is competent but not theater-level – I would suggest a sound bar or AV setup to match the theater-style picture. Design & Build: Slim, modern design with glossy finish; 75-inch size offers a large screen without excessive depth and uses a thin bezel. The screen has a matte finish, which helps reduce glare. The feet have a wide and a narrow mount point, and it is equipped with a standard VESA wall mount measuring 400mm x 400mm. The FireTV interface is good basic setup for streaming services and you can add and customize apps – It works as well as the Roku or Google TV streaming platforms. Built-in Alexa+ and Hands-Free Voice Control make it easy to find entertainment, control compatible smart home devices, and get personalized assistance using just your voice. The controller has a user-selectable microphone, and the TV has a microphone with an off switch. Movies are more enjoyable. It is like having a movie theater at home. I watched John Wick: Chapter 2, which is full of very dark scenes set against colorful city lights. The background was appropriately dark, yet the characters were visually detailed and realistic. The action was smooth, with no tearing, artifacts, or splotchy black areas, with good black borders. Avatar: Fire and Ash, Lots of action, exaggerated colors with both light and dark scenes. Various Movies and TV scenes all had good coloration on people, even with dramatic backgrounds or major color backgrounds like sky blue or green fields. Sports: football and Formula 1 looked clean and crisp. Games: had good action scenes, smooth transitions, no smearing or tearing; dramatic lighting was not overblown. Works well in well-lit environments and is extremely immersive in dark environments. The 75M8LF (75QM8L) is one of the strongest all-around Mini-LED TVs available in 2026. It excels in bright-room performance, HDR impact, and gaming while remaining competitively priced. It is particularly recommended if you want high brightness and color vibrancy without stepping up to OLED or much more expensive RGB Mini-LED sets. I had an OLED, and I feel the uniform brightness and dimming zones are an improvement over my old OLED TV, with worries about burn-in. It has a couple of ways it could improve to make it five-star, but I this TV, is top shelf - especially at its price point.

The TCL M8LF is a new offering in TCL’s budget lineup. The M8LF is the entry point for high refresh rate, Mini LED, full array local dimming with a 144Hz high contrast VA panel within TCL’s lineup. This TV operates on the popular FireTV platform which makes integration with Amazon products and services a breeze. After using the TV for the last week, it provides a good experience for the price point but lacks some higher end picture quality and build quality of their QD-Mini LED lineup. IN THE BOX: - TV - Plastic Feet/Stands - Power Cable - Voice Remote - Quick Start Guide, User Manual SETUP: The M8LF comes with basic, plastic feet that attach to the bottom of the TV with no height adjustment. Because these install directly from the bottom, installation will require two people and it is not the easiest to do. Because this is a Fire TV, setup requires an Amazon account to get started and utilize some of the features of this TV. For those that seek Amazon integration, this is a positive. For those looking for a more universal experience, Google TV generally provides that. Regardless, setup is done via QR Codes on the screen and takes less than 10 minutes from powering the TV on to downloading and watching content via available apps. The TV does sit up high enough on the included feet so that a slimmer soundbar does fit under the screen and does not block any of the screen itself. FEATURES/PICTURE QUALITY: This TV features four HDMI ports including one eARC (HDMI 4). HDMI 1 and 2 are 144Hz capable while HDMI 3 and 4 are limited to 60Hz. Given eARC is generally just for audio transfer, this isn’t a huge deal but if you plan on connecting this TV to a receiver or setup via a single HDMI cable in which video is passed through, it is disappointing. The M8LF comes with a native 144Hz refresh rate panel using more basic high contrast VA panel technology which has been around for many years. This is not the same as TCL’s more premium QD-Mini LED lineup which offers a higher end picture with better viewing angles, brightness, contrast, and black levels. With that being said, the M8LF is not a terrible experience. It gets bright enough for the average living room with windows directly behind the TV. It features all of the latest technologies such as Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR 10+, Auto Game Mode (ALLM) and Game Bar, Motion Rate 480 with MEMC Frame Insertion, and Dolby Atmos Audio. The TV will automatically upscale lower quality content such as 720p/1080p and make it closer to 4K for a better everyday viewing experience. This TV seems to upscale content fairly well but it isn’t the best on the market. The average person would be happy with the picture quality unless you are used to a higher end TV. Upon using some of the popular streaming services such as Prime and YouTubeTV, content looks good and Dolby Vision/Audio/HDR10+ turned on with content that supported it. Because this TV only has a semi-matte finish, natural light does impact some content during the day. The black levels are good, not great, and the local dimming works as it should. There is a minor amount of blooming on really bright objects against a nearly black background. Colors are vibrant with seemingly good color out of the box but this can be tuned to your liking with several settings including color correction, if desired. The benefit of Mini-LED over OLED is there is no risk of burn-in if any single image is displayed on the screen for too long. The viewing angles are good for a more basic VA panel but the best experience is center or very slightly off center. SOFTWARE: As mentioned, this TV runs FireTV which means it is linked to your Amazon account. I don’t find the menus as intuitive or easy to navigate compared to GoogleTV. The TV’s processor seems quick enough to respond with no major lag switching apps or streaming content. The HDMI eARC CEC connectivity appears to work without issue upon connecting a soundbar via HDMI 4. OVERALL: The TCL M8LF is a good entry level MiniLED TV for those on a tight budget while desiring a 144hz panel to make gaming or streaming more enjoyable. The FireTV OS is subjective as it may be a preference to some or integrate more seamlessly into your household. The included TV stands are cheap and the voice remote also lacks a substantial feel in the hand. Given the more basic nature of this TV, it is clear that some costs had to be cut to be able to offer such a low (sale) price. If you are desiring a more premium experience, TCL offers that within their QMK lineup of TV’s. Overall, I would consider this TV at a certain (sale) price but I would also be open to higher end models for a little more cost.

This television has a very nice picture and the included FireTV on this model is a plus! Initial setup was fairly easy but it’s a big TV so I’d recommend having two or maybe even three people for the unboxing. An extra set of hands to help remove the wrapping as it comes out of the box is helpful. I wasn’t prepared to wall mount it yet so we installed the included stands. I didn’t have a table large enough to lay it on per the instructions to support the entire screen so I placed the large styrofoam packing pieces back in the box for support and used the box and a blanket to lay it on to install the legs. It’s not very heavy, it weighs about fifty pounds so two people can lift and move it easily. Once it was back upright I attached the power cord and plugged it in. On power up it asked what language I preferred and then it began what I assume was the FireTV configuration and said it was searching for the remote. It appeared to get stuck in that searching mode and I could not exit. A quick internet search didn’t turn up much but the recommendation appeared to be to power it off, unplug it, wait a minute, and plug it back in. I did that and on power up it asked for my preferred language again and then it asked for my location and from there the setup proceeded as normal. I had no other issues. We already have several FireTV sticks and having it built into the TV is very convenient and frees up an input. During setup it imported my settings from my Amazon account and brought over all my apps for me. So far I’ve used it to watch some newer movies and tv shows and some older HD movies and shows and it’s performed wonderfully even with the lower res content. I did change the picture setting to Filmmaker Mode as that looked best to my eye but everything else is on defaults. The speakers. They’re not bad but I have just never been happy with the built in speakers on any flat panel TV. These are ok, they just sound a little thin to me. I did change the audio setting to movie mode and adjusted the vertical sound field and it helped some but the video is so nice it needs audio to match so I’d advise to budget for a soundbar or surround system to get the most out of it.

What is good: -Picture quality is beautiful and sharp -Colors look amazing -Black contrast looks great -24Gb of storage seems like enough -144hz screen -HDMI 2.1 supports 144hz -Minimal reflections -Gets bright Needs Improvement: -Fire OS is laggy -Fire OS lacks user personalization/customization -Limited to 6 app favorites and only takes up about 10% of screen -Top half of screen is advertising that can’t be turned off -Bottom 40% of screen is watch suggestions -Sound is bad, using optimization sounds worse -Picture settings such as motion controls, noise reduction ruins picture quality -Auto lighting turned on makes screen flicker -Bloatware -Framing around glass edges is exposed -Remote not backlit I really wanted to like this tv. Way to much advertising on it. It appears as TCL and fire OS don’t give a second thought to what the user might like. It would be nice to have a Home Screen customization like an iPhone. Give me quick access to my apps! I never thought I would say Google TV interface is better. Please wall mount this tv because the stand is weak and your tv will wobble. Buy if you can get past the advertising. The picture after all is fantastic and my other tv is a Q-LED tv with more backlighting zones.

This is a very nice TV, and I am looking forward to using it in my classroom this year. I had a similar size but much older TV last year that was donated but it was needed in another room, so I went looking for something to replace it with. I was a bit naive since I don't do much shopping and had some assumptions that I found didn't serve me well! First the good. The resolution is great, as it supports 4K and has a very bright screen with colors consistent across the entire surface. I have not found any areas that have problems on the screen – either dead pixels or washed out areas. It has four HDMI inputs and two USB-A (one USB 2.0 and the other USB 3.0) so you can add content from other devices easily. The TV itself is fairly light for its size – about 52 lbs. It is easy to mount on the wall and can be used with a wide variety of mounts because of its weight. It uses a fairly large VESA pattern, so the TV doesn’t flex when mounted. Now for some critiques! The controls are interesting, the “Settings” are different depending on how you get to them, which seems odd to me. Hitting the “Settings” button on the remote brings up a quick menu that duplicates many of the functions already available on the remote with other buttons. Moving the cursor across the home screen brings up another “Settings” area that has all of what you expected to find with the remote button. It is counterintuitive to me, but I am sure someone had a reason for doing it this way. Once in the main settings “area” there are many adjustments to get things set the way I wanted. When I got this, I assumed that being a Fire TV, it would have the Fire Stick built-in. I was wrong! It has no way to natively cast a remote screen, only remotely access installed apps and built-in content. I installed an app called AirScreen that allows me to send my Surface Pro screen to the TV but it has a significant delay, so I am going to have to buy a device to make it work. I have run a very old Chromecast for many years that has had no problems with delay but is limited in resolution. I am not familiar with Fire devices (obviously) so I guess I will have to get a newer Chrome device to get back the capability I need for my classroom. I am very disappointed with this, since the TV is a significant purchase already and I could have gone with a smaller screen with Google built in for the same price. I guess I will learn some day to do my research and read up on all of these details! Overall, I am very happy with the TV, besides the cumbersome settings adjustments and the casting/mirroring capabilities. If I was able to use all of my devices right out of the box, I would have been even happier, but it is my fault for not doing more research ahead of getting the TV.

I needed a TV in my living room that could better handle the viewing experience of dark scenes while watching during daytime hours. The M8LF does not disappoint for my needs. With the Mini-LED backlight, it handles the blacks pretty well. With that out of the way, I was hesitant of the TCL brand. Although I have heard the name TCL, I wasn’t familiar with their TV lineup. The setup was fairly easy since I already am in the Amazon Fire universe and just went through a few settings to transfer my account to this TV. I usually tweak video settings on any new TV that I get, but honestly I didn’t change any visual on this Fire TV. However, I have to admit I am pretty disappointed with the audio. There are different audio default settings to choose from or you can adjust your own, but I ended up going with ‘movie’ for everything. I understand that it has always been an issue with audio in flat screen TVs, but you would think by now it would be worked out where you could get decent sound built-in instead of having to purchase an audio system to accompany the TV. Keep in mind, to go with the brilliant picture quality that you may want to add a surround sound system or soundbar to match that quality. Overall though, there are more things that I like versus dislike and I would still recommend this M8LF.

This TLC 75 inch mini LED television is an excellent addition to my home. The unboxing definitely requires at least 2 people, as it’s a heavy television and the 75 inch size is very awkward to handle alone. The unboxing was pretty easy all around. The adjustable feet is such a clutch thing to have these days. It’s hard to predict where a new Televisions stand will be, but luckily you have some freedom to adjust these to fit on whatever mantle or Television stand you already might have. As for the performance, this one “shines” literally. The quality of colors and depths of the blacks are phenomenal, even in a brightly lit room. Usually a concern with HDR Televisions is that you need a dark room to funny enjoy it. Well that’s not the case here. The refresh rate is excellent for everything fast paced, movies, sports, racing. The biggest downside is the software that controls the streaming and apps. I am not too surprised, every “smart TV” I have ever seen has horrible software loaded. It took me 60 seconds to abandon it and hook my APPLE TV up to the television. Overall, an excellent TV with typical clunky and slow software installed.
