The modem part of it works great and gets the right speed 127mbps.
The router totally sucks. Very week signal. Does not work as a WiFi. My old outdated router was 10 times better.
I had to buy this unit because I have Comcast and it is one of a few units that support the telephone land line. If I didn't have the phone, I would have bought it.
Expect to spend between $100 and $200 for a better router or a signal booster.

I was having no problems with my old Motorola docsis 2.0 modem and netgear N600 router. I was getting around 20 mps from my comcast maximum 25 mps internet and rarely had any problems. But I decided to mess with success and upgrade to this gateway. It was pricey, but I'm glad I did it. I'm immediately getting 30 mps now download speeds, higher than advertised. Setup was easy....not effortless, but easy for the average PC user. My old Netgear router was quite trouble-free so I'm hoping for similar luck with this new gateway. And it's good to know I've got a capable unit for any future speed upgrades from Comcast. I fully recommend this Netgear gateway modem/router.

For 4 years I have been paying Comcast $10 per month to rent an internet / telephone modem. I was pleased to discover this modem at Best Buy, because it has permitted me to return my rental modem to Comcast and reduce my bill by $10 per month.
This modem includes a wireless router, but it has only a single 2.4 Ghz channel. At first I tried to use it without my own router, but it was significantly slower. I reconnected my dual band router, to regain my earlier level of performance. Now I have a 3rd channel.

I upgraded to the Comcast triple play deal, which made my old modem obsolete. I purchased this modem/router from Best Buy rather than spend $16/month leasing it from Comcast. It was a bit of a hassle getting Comcast to adjust the bill, but worth it. The unit will pay for itself within a year.
In addition to the telephony, one nice feature is a button on top that allows you to quickly add another device to the Wi-Fi without having to input username and password.

Purchased this Modem/ router combo so I would not have to pa for the overpriced rental from Comcast. Plugged the device in and it worked fine. Comcast took a little while to get there part going, but it all worked out. I have been using the device for about a month with no problems.

In the past Comcast didn't charge for the modem but when I look at my ever increasing bill I see I'm now paying a monthly fee and Comcast is using their modem and broadcasting a second Wi-Fi id for other customers to use. My services would drop all the time in the evening.
When I found out neighbors were using the free Comcast Wi-Fi from my modem and Comcast would not let you turn off the 2nd signal, I knew I needed to do something.
I bought my own modem and disabled 2nd Wi-Fi broadcast, my service has NEVER dropped or had a buffer issue since.
And I don't have that modem rental on my bill.

The modem works fine. For some reason during setup it took a day for it to connect with all the websites properly. You just have to be patient and wait for it to start working, because at first it seems like it's not. I don't understand why and neither does Xfinity support. All is fine now and we are no longer having to pay the $10/mo rental fee.

Product is compatible with X1 Xfinity triple Bundle ( Cable , Phone and Internet ). It tolerates the speed of the internet up to 138mbs, and also one of the few routers that has a phone line in and also works as a wifi. It's basically all in one for all your cable needs. If you are on a contract of 2 years, you are basically paying more compared to buying this 1 time and that's it. Version works with the service so very easy to install and use.

I connected everything up and following the instructions connected with Comcast online. Had it activated and updated in about 15 - 20 minutes without talking to anyone. The modem was activated and updated and when all the lights were on and not blinking I checked everything out. The phone and Internet worked fine. I still use my router because its a bit faster. Returned the rented modem to Comcast with no problem. Happy not to have to pay $10 every month for rental fee.

I went to Best Buy to buy a modem/router. I told the clerk what I wanted and what I already had and he sold me an item. The Geek Squad came out to set it up. He told me I had the wrong modem/router. He left but said he'd let me know the SKU number so I could buy the correct one. So I had to go back to the store to return the original one and order the right one (for more money). The new one was delivered and Geek Squad came to set it up. It works just like it's supposed to.

Upgrade from Provided Router

This was purchased as an upgrade for my grandma over the router provided by her cable carrier that was over 7 years old. This router not only covers her entire home, but also sends a signal out strong enough that I can pick up her wi fi all over her property when I'm mowing the yard and streaming music via my phone. Netflix runs smoothly also when streaming through either the computer, phone, or her smart tv. Since she has Comcast and runs her phone through her cable, she was kind of tied as to which router she had to buy. So far though, her Internet speeds are much faster, range is greatly improved, and setup was pretty simple other than a few tedious stops on Comcast's website for registration. All-in-all, much better than the stock garbage she was originally issued when her cable was installed.

When we were looking around for a new modem we knew we had to upgrade our router too. As we were researching similar combo products it was clear that the xifinity-arris was among the top rated ones. The installation was long (about 45mins) as we had to go thru the customer service of comcast but they were courteous and friendly. Looking back we could have done it without calling comcast but then we had to integrate all our devices (phones,iPads ,mac and TVs) with the new modem and router so they were able to do that seamlessly. We noticed the difference in the connectivity and speed right away. For gamers out there , we recommend this modem .

Only choice for a telephony modem for Comcast

Unfortunately if you still need or want a land line thru Comcast, this seems to be the only choice of telephony modem router available. It was surprisingly easy to setup as advertised. To go along with other reviews I have read, the router has terrible range, have resorted to hooking up my older router off one of the ports and that is how I get acceptable range.

This is an excellent modem and router. Very easy to install. If you are a bit technical savy just follow the procedures. It takes about 30 minutes to activate using your own computer, no need to call Xfinity for activation. The WiFi router is also faster than my old airport express and with the extra ethernet ports you can connect other additional wireless devices. Totally worth the money.

I bought this modem in store to replace my Comcast owned modem. The modem is shorter than than Comcast model you rent monthly. Installation was super easy. Self-install instructions are included in the package along with all the cables needed. The price of the modem is $199. Compared to other modems, this is the only one you an use for the triple play package. Other modems are lower in price but don't have the same capabilities.
