I bought the modem before signing a 2yr contract with Comcast. So over all we will save more than renting theirs for $10/month. The set up was easy since they were coming to the house to install everything for our move anyway. The man did have to take some extra time on the phone while setting it up but it sounded like the issue swag completely on comcasts end. It had been working good so far, no complaints.

Purchased to replace Arris TM502G Touchstone Telephony Modem (EOL). My home system has two modems. Motorola SB6141 and Netgear R7000 provide internet connection for Ethernet and Wireless connections. The Arris, located in separate room, provides phone service Ethernet connection to internet primarily for my personal security system. This is a common and relatively simple scheme. Has worked flawlessly for eight or nine years with various equipment. To activate this unit alone was a nightmare, hours on the phone and at least six different agents. To turn wireless OFF completely, no hotspots or “Other Network”, was an epic journey. The problem lies with the provider, but felt retailer could have made the process seamless without being smug and wanting to me to purchase a service plan. It has been three days of system working at expected performance. It has taken four weeks to get to this goal.

I'm so glad that I purchased this modem. It was very easy to install, only took couple minutes: I removed Comcast modem (one cord at a time) and plugged in the new modem. Followed the step by step instructions, logged into my Comcast account to register the modem and Comcast will no longer charge me a $10 monthly fee. Remember to return Comcast Modem to an office near your home and ask for a receipt.

A little pricy but worth that... serves modem + WiFi router use. Easy setup and since I use comcast ISP, I faced no issues in reception.

    Wired LAN fails

This router was easy to setup and I ran it wireless for two weeks with out any problem, but then I connected computers to the LAN ports on the back panel. When plugging in the cable the computers would get an IP address but after about 45 minutes to an hour the DHCP from the router would muck itself up and the computers would lose connectivity to the router and self assign their own IP address. Rebooting the router would fix the problem for about 45 minutes to an hour. I would have returned it to Best Buy but by the time I started to use the wired LAN it was past their 14 day return policy. 14 days is not long enough I had just moved into a new house and it took me 14 days just to get my computers and equipment unpacked. Although I had no intention of running this router as a router, since I run a SonicWALL firewall, I am not terribly upset that the wired LAN doesn't work, but still it should. It works fine as a Bridge and the WiFi is solid. TV and phone are also used and hooked up with out any problems. So I give it a rating of 3 stars but 0 zero stars for Best Buy return policy. In the future I will have to consider how much tech I buy from them, with one of the shortest return policies I have seen. Equipment failure is more common in the first 30 days than the rest of the remaining 355 days in a year.

Easy to install, no issue from Comcast for setup of MAC Address and removal of older ARRIS of 2yrs bought through Best Buy for $140.. Maybe for $180 this one will last for 3 years, I paid a little more you know what the heck. My brother-in-law was interested in this unit after I purchased it. I don't get along with him, so I will recommend it to him, Si!

I replaced my rental modem and router unit with th e same one purchased from best buy. Got tired of paying 10.00 a month to rent it from Xfinity! However, you have no choice in what to buy- this is th e only unit sold that incorporated a modem, router and telephonic hookup. It works fine, but you have no choice and it is never on sale.

Hey, it is just a modem. Unfortunately, it is the only one Best Buy had for use with Comcast with a telephone line at home. There are no other choices. It is an N speed router with no antennas. The internet speed near the router is great. Move 20 feet away or around the corner and the degradation is horrible. Near the router, speeds are over 70 mbps. Around a corner, the speed drops to 15mbps. Still very acceptable for streaming movies. The setup was very easy and fast.Their setup made it easy with a good interface. The router has been in place only for a month with no problems.

Forced to upgrade through Comcast ( yeah thanks for that Comcast), needed a IPV6 router with DOCISS 3 for the in laws, install was fast and easy, resetting everything simple enough. Broad range on the wireless, telephony jack capability comes up and gives clear signal. Parental control and remote management are nice features.

I got this to use with Comcast internet and phone service. It was hard to sign on. Once the technician got it connected, it's been working fine. I read the wifi range is not far. I have not experienced it, since I use an Apple wifi router also.

After looking at several modems/gateways, I FINALLY found this one that has Telephony capabilities. It is actually IDENTICAL to the Comcast Technicolor one that we were renting from them. The only problem I had was w/Comcast as they tried to continue to charge me to rent this one that I purchased because it's actually COMCAST branded. Once I showed proof of purchase to Comcast, they took care of the additional charges, and the smaller Comcast bill is sweet. We have had no probs w/the product, just Comcast (and that is also a non-issue now).

Like most people that purchase this modem, I did so to save the monthly rental fee of my cable internet provider. The advantage that this modem has over others is that it is an emta and allows cable internet phone service. If you want cable internet phone service, this modem works best and is easiest to use.

This Arris combo modem/router replaces the one I was renting from Comcast for the past year so I am saving $10/month. It was packaged as a self-install kit from Comcast and was easy to get hooked up and working but required a call to customer service to shut off its wireless and make it function as a modem only, connecting to my router . This is called "Bridging the modem". out of the box it had old firmware and I was unable to access this setting myself but Comcast could do it from their end. After a major power outage it finally updated itself and I now have access to that feature as described on their website. If you plan a long-term relationship with Comcast for telephone then this will save you some money. Got it because I had a $200 gift card to use

I purchased this to replace a faulty Doscis 3.0 telephone line modem I was renting from Comcast. The previous modem/router combination (modem with Belkin Router) kept dropping connections with our Galaxy S4 phones. With this model, the phones connect wonderfully and don't drop connections (saving me data plan usage!). However, I noticed the inverse with my laptop. Connections would drop, and the speed was HORRIBLE (video would constantly stop to spool). So I just ended up using a dual Wifi Router setup. I use the Belkin router for all laptops, and the built in router in this model for the phones. Everything works fine now. My "yes" recomendation is only under my current setup, If I didn't have the other router, It would be a no due to laptop performance. Actually, it would have been returned.

I registered my new cable modem with Comcast first, then proceeded to remove the existing modem and then replace it with the new one. After registering the device with Comcast, it was mostly plug and play, which made it simple for me (thank goodness!). This device comes with built in WIFI that has a default user name and password assigned. These can be changed to something of your preference via your Comcast account. I am using a Linksys E8350 since my cable modem is located in our basement.and its WIFI signal is not as strong as I would like it to be. Overall, this arrangement has provided a download speed improvement of ~70 Mbs, for a total of ~90 Mbs; upload speed is consistently around 6 Mbs. These improvements have helped to reduce NWS (nagging wife syndrome) greatly.

Technically it is not a good product. Range is limited. However big thing here is to stop paying Comcast the rental. I had a rental modem for 2 years at 10/month... This is a better deal

great modem, it is saving me that monthly rental fee although it was pricey and will take awhile before it pays for itself, I still like the fact that I don't have to pay the cable company more than necessary. It was difficult to get the cable company to accept the modem, but was easy to install.
