The best amp in its class

I have had Yamaha amps for a few decades. My last Amp was a RX-V1000 which is about 10 years old and still works great, but lacks the new technologies, including HDMI. I purchased a Yamaha RXA1060 which was amazing, but is only 7.2 channels max. I want an amp that will grow over time. I decided to upgrade to the RXA3060 and am so happy I did. The audio processors are noticeably better. I currently have 7.1 Definitive speakers and the sound processing 3D field is amazing with this new amp. I can hear the dialog in a movie perfectly and the ambient sound is truly ambient. The setup of the unit was simple and extensive and I only made minor alterations afterward. The Android app makes a great remote. Unless you are planning on spending over 10 grand on an amp, you will not be disappointed in this modern work of art.

Replaced a 12 year old HTR-5850, which continued to perform well, but wanted to upgrade to wifi capability. Boy, did I hit the jackpot. Was initially concerned about the total watts being only 300, compared to my older unit's 500 watts. Ended up not being an issue at all. Lot's of bells and whistles with this unit. Purchased a couple months ago and still realizing all it's capabilities. So many options to customize your personal sound desire didn't miss any power. What helped the most for me was the adjustments your able to make while in the DSP mode associated with the surround decoder; particularly the ability to spread/redirect center speaker sound to other speakers. Made a HUGE power compensation difference! Also love the YPAO feature; only minor personal adjustments for me was necessary. You should also know that the two different zones offered on this unit are also capable of adjustable sound options in each zone. This feature significantly enhanced entertainment to my outdoor covered deck area in which I first tested during my annual Super Bowl gathering. A huge hit! Thanks Yamaha. Keep doing what your doing!

This receiver is a very quality piece of audio equipment. I was replacing my Yamaha Aventage RX-A2040 due to some issues with the amount of the features I used at one time. I found that using a lot of the DSP features at once and your sound quality would suffer from sounding harsh or crackling as if you had an over driven input. I never found this as a bad point, but just realized it was a limitation based on the design. With the Yamaha Aventage RX-a3060, DSP power is not an issue. There is more than enough processing power. The power amp section also seems more transparent and lifelike. Its about the best quality sound you can get without going to a theater. The amount of features and adjustability puts this unit ahead of most. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a very high quality sound.

This has just about every useful feature in a A/V receiver, with state of the art sound quality. It is detailed and expansive in its presentation, great for both movies and music applications. A bit complex, but well worth the investment in time.

I wanted to upgrade my speakers, however the speaker manufacturer recommended a quality high current receiver to match with their speakers, otherwise a cheap receiver could cause them harm.
I am not an audiophile or tech geek, however I did my do diligence for months in research/learning and reading reviews of the higher end a/v receivers and decided on Yamaha Aventage 3060.
Before purchasing I spent time in the owners manual and found it a bit confusing, as I started setting it up, it became clearer and was surprised how well it went.
Great clarity in Music and Dialog and at low volumes! Being a little hard of hearing, I quickly noticed not having to constantly control volume watching t.v. and movies! And I was surprised that I was enjoying my music without cranking it up. My speakers sound much richer and fuller.
Now my next purchase will be higher end speakers and I have no fear in matching them with this receiver.

I love the power that is available. The option to turn 1080i signal to a 4k pic is very cool as well. I run 9 channels and 2 subs and it is amazing.

4K blurays discs played through my LG 4K player looks fantastic and sound unbelievable. But my 4K and older Apple TV give video but no audio hooked to this receiver. I have tried everything and now am sending emails to Yamaha to see if they can help. I would buy this with caution.

This was recommended by the Magnolia team at BB. Denon was our go to for many years but made the switch last year. Their GUI is some much easier to use and it's truly a great product.

The setup using numbers for many input sources, ( such as TV, BD, CD, Set-top Box) is bad on both the receiver and remote controller. Difficult to constantly try to remember what number represent which equipment. I have to write these down and refer to them when I change input source. Also, programming the remote is a mess and input response delay is time consuming. I read some of the reviews prior to purchasing this Yamaha and now feel that some reviews were written by Yamaha paid salespeople. The various "Scenes" do not fully compliment the full speaker setup, even with the basic 5.1 stereo not recognized and processed adequately as standard output. What am I missing here?

Superior A/V Receiver for both Movies and Music

I have the YAMAHA 3060 for a little over a month and enjoying it . Before I made the purchase I downloaded the manual and read it a few times so when I received the unit set up was a breeze. The YPAO for room calibration takes only minutes. I currently only have a 5.1 speaker configuration and will now branch out o 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 for ATMOS and DTS-X. I am also using it as a Pre-Pro with a seperate 5 channel 500 watt per channel SUNFIRE SIGNATURE amp. But the internal YAMAHA amps are more than enough.
Both music and movies are incredible sounding.. I am hearing more than I ever heard from any other receiver. Effects are breathtaking and dialogue is crisp and intelligent and you can also increase just the dialogue level if you wish and that works amazingly well for soundtracks where you need to raise the dialogue a bit.
And for those who are skeptical with DSP's...try them ...you don't have to by choosing STRAIGHT MODE but try the DSP's also...you may be very surprised how well they work(my favorites are STANDARD,SCI-FI and ADVENTURE and DRAMA). Trust me this may be the A/V receiver to end all A/V receivers. It is future proof so you may not have to replace it for years.

Incredible Receiver

I needed to replace an Onkyo 705 which still functioned well but was getting old and lacked HDMI inputs.
As I had recently got a 4K TV that did HDR, I wanted something that would be able to handle that, had Audio Return Channel and drive two sub-woofers.
This was an expensive pick and I had to think carefully about whether to go this big or get one of the smaller Yamaha models but I'm really happy I got this one.
It handles 4K great although I turn off the processing options and just let the TV handle up scaling. The ARC function works well with sending TV sound back into the receiver although there are a couple of quirks common with all receivers to work around, regarding ARC. Still, the payoff is worth it with this receiver as it can then output Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos over ARC which you can't do over the simpler, optical cable output.
The receiver drives my Polk 7.2 system much better than my Onkyo could manage. It has more power and is able to push more channels although an amplifier is recommended for some Atmos/DT:X setups.
The setup on this box was really easy - I switched it in for my old unit in about an hour, including Yamaha's proprietary audio/room setup.
It's taken me about a week but I've got it to a point where I don't need to fiddle about with it (unless I want to which is sometimes fun) and it ties in well with my other components and a Harmony Hub that drives it all.
I would recommend this receiver if you have the other kit to make it worthwhile and are looking for an Atmos compatible setup. Otherwise, it might be a bit overkill and you could probably get by with one of the lower models which are also excellent.

I will start off by saying that this is by far one of the best receivers I have ever used in my living room. I replaced the Denon that was in there (7.1) and now I am planning to add more speakers to the mix to move into Atmos with. I was sold by doing my research on it from various places like http://pocinc.net/blog/product-reviews/review-yamahas-rx-a3060-aventage-11-2-channel-4k-hdr-receiver-with-dolby-atmos-and-dtsx/ when it came down to the height channels in the roof and the wattage per channel it offered vs having to use additional amps. I wasn't all-in at first. There was a chance I might have sent it back if I didn't like it. However, in the end, it all worked out quite nicely. Performance, features and a few other variables filled the mystery gap in my opinion and I became all-in within the first week. I Love it !

Yamaha Adventage RX-A3060 AV Receivers

Although I have not bought the 3060, Over the past several years I bought the Yamaha Adventage RX-A3010 and the RX-A3050 AV Receivers. I'm sure that the 3060 is as good as those AV Receivers. I bought the 3050 to be the main receiver and I use the 3010 for the Rear Presence Speakers which gives me 11.2 (although I only have 1 sub-woofers now.
Let me tell you this, I have an Optoma projector with an 8'x6' screen. My speakers aren't quite up to par with the receivers, but they are great. I have a Polk Audio center, Klipsch Front L/R, Polk Audio In-Wall Front Presence, JBL L-110 Studio for Surround L/R, Polk Audio Rear Surround L/R, and Polk Audio In-Wall Rear Presence. I bought 2 more In-Wall Speakers that I'm planning on replacing the Polk Audio Small Desktop Rear Surround L/R.
Anyway, back to the 3060.. Buy them and buy a Yamaha mid-range AV Receiver for your Rear Presence. If you have difficulty setting up your 2 receivers..the receiver for the Rear Presence needs to be set up as MULTI CH. GOOD GOING!!
