Upgraded from a Yamaha Rx-V3900 that still works great but needed 4K. This has loads of power, Airplay, WIFI, auto switching between sources and loads more. You won't go wrong with this receiver.

I upgraded from a Yamaha 667 and this product offers connectivity to anything you need. The setup was easy and I did not have Bluetooth previously on the old unit. I did connect a blue ray and turntable but I have not connected to wifi yet. Long time Yamaha owner and I have always had good luck with their products.

This new receiver by Yamaha is excellent! I bought it for the Dolby Atmos. I still have my 15 year old Yamaha and just moved it to another room. Sound is amazing.

I love this receiver. This is paired with twin B&W 683 S2 Tower Speakers. This receiver powers these strong speakers with zero struggle and dB's to spare. I have not experienced any clipping at any volume, and the sound is crisp at all volumes. Great for the money.

The Geek Squad picked the right receiver for me. We spoke about my needs and then I was given choices and this is what I picked. I love it.

Comes with a 3 year factory warranty so buying an extended warranty from the geek squad isn't necessary anymore. The sound quality, features and build of the unit is what you would expect from a yamaha.

I bought this to replace a 2-year old Pioneer Elite receiver with comparable specs. The Yamaha weighs 50 percent more and is a much beefier unit with significantly better output. The sound quality of the Yamaha is terrific. It displays none of the glitches of the Pioneer. Sadly, Pioneer has really lost its quality and reliability. Yamaha, like Pioneer, Onkyo, Marantz, and Denon, manufactures its units in China. But unlike the others, Yamaha does not outsource its components and it maintains direct control of the manufacturing process. The payoff is quality and reliability which are unmatched. The DSP sound fields are a bit gimmicky, but more importantly, the surround decoder works very well. Set up is reasonably easy if you're used to sophisticated audio systems, but this is a very complex and customizable machine. I think that one needs to be fairly tech savvy and audio experienced to get the Yamaha up and running properly. An audio novice or someone who doesn't like reading owner's manuals will probably not be very happy. Why is the Yamaha almost awesome as opposed to totally awesome? Two drawbacks, both of which are correctable. Because the unit has only 7 discreet amplifier channels, even though it allows 9 speakers (plus 2 subwoofers) to be connected, you have to manually select whether sound is output from top Atmos speakers or from the back surround speakers. It can't output to both simultaneously. There is a fix to this, but it requires purchasing a 2-channel amp, connecting it to the surround back pre-out on the Yamaha, which then allows all 9 speakers to operate at the same time.. The other problem relates to the YPAO automatic speaker setup. It produces wildly inaccurate results. Its measurements of speaker distances are way off, it selects inaccurate speaker size, and totally screws up the bass cutoff points of the satellite speakers and subwoofers. The result is a very unbalanced left-right, front-back output, and very poor bass performance. The correction for this is to do a manual speaker setup. It's not hard to do, and when you do it, it allows the receiver to produce the terrific sound it is capable of. Punchline, if you're willing to read the manual, perform a manual speaker setup, and spend the time it takes, I'm sure you will love the Yamaha. But if you want a simple "plug and play" system, the Yamaha will probably drive you crazy. Finally, if you want a full 7.2.2 system, you will need to add an external amp, or you need to step up to the RXA2070 model.. But if you want a 5.1.2 system, you're good to go

Very happy with the receiver. Main and Zone2 work logically especially using the mobile app. No issues passing 4k 60Hz video from multiple sources to TV.

The bass on this one was too strong after some tweaking it sounded better, but I chose to go with the pioneer vsx503, much crisper sound.
