The extraordinarily popular, cool-toned and fragile singing trumpeter with the looks of a movie star is back in the jazz world's public eye again, with a new biography out and a movie deal in the works. Chet Baker started out on top in the 1950s gigging with Charlie Parker, joining the Gerry Mulligan Quartet and soon becoming one of the most popular trumpeters in jazz. The late 50s and early 60s found Baker at the nadir of his career and suddenly he was out of music. Against all odds he made a comeback in the mid-70s. This CD documents a set taken from a live performance at San Francisco's Keystone Korner. Album Tracks 1. But Not for Me 2. Broken Wing 3. Secret Love 4. Blue 'N' Boogie

Debademba is a group formed from the magical encounter of two fellow musicians guitarist and inventive beat master Abdoulaye Traore from Burkina Faso and Malian singer Mohamed Diaby, a charismatic griot. These colorful characters are, like the other members of the group, Parisian Africans who are very prominent on the capital's cosmopolitan live music scene. The kind of music they make is modern and explosive, drawing from afrobeat, highlife and mbalax styles, with hints of Mandinka music mixed in, all combined with strong blues elements and the occasional nod to rock. Souleymane is a powerful manifesto and an invitation to celebrate. Album Tracks 1. Nusso Dia 2. Touma 3. Souleymane 4. Gnouma 5. Saiwa 6. Dema 7. Dianamo 8. Doussou 9. Moko 10. Djiki 11. Pleine Lune (Instrumental)
