Q: can you use the 4k Firestick on an older, non-4k tv?
A: Having a problem connecting my 4K amazon fire stick it does show anything other then connection error
Q: am I missing something, or can firestick be a replacement for my direct tv?
A: The Fire Stick alone doesn't replace cable but it enables you to subscribe to streaming services such as Hulu. Hulu Live at $40 per month gives you everything that Direct TV gives you for over $100 per month. You need a strong wifi signal which you can guarantee with the Google wifi 3 pack for one time cost of $250. Its a miracle device. What are you waiting for?
A: I just want to correct an incorrect statement in a previous response. The 4K model will work with any HD TV. A 4K is not required according to Amazon's own website description which says " or 2) high-definition TVs with HDMI capable of 1080p or 720p at 50/60 Hz". I don't have 4K but want this model because it controls the TV's power and volume via buttons or Alexa for the popular TV brands.
Q: Do i need to have a 4K tv for the 4K fire stick?
A: You do NOT need a 4K tv to use the 4K firestick. This 4K firestick has a faster processor and more buffering ram than the 2nd gen firestick. The stick is awesome and runs about 15% faster than the last model.
Q: Is the firestick 4k compatible with FIOS?
A: There IS NOT a FIOS TV app for Firestick in Amazon store! Verizon FIOS does not support probably because they want to rent you a STB for each TV.
A: They do appear automatically. And some are free but most cost money or a monthly subscription. The free activities will say as such but 75% are paid or include cost
Q: Does this 2nd generation stick have increased memory compared to the 8Gs in the earlier version?
A: It has the same core memory as the 2nd Gen Fire Stick, but about 220 mb less to access. It uses a couple of Amazon device exclusive apps like Live Cast and the Entertainment Device app which take up some of that memory.
A: If you get the firestick it comes with a remote. All sounds will come out of your TV.
