Ambrose Akinmusire - Honey From A Winter Stone - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

You need neither an instruction manual nor a university education to love the Dead Daisies' music. Their songs unerringly hit their listeners' autonomic nervous system, immediately take root in their hearts and souls and force them to move along to the rhythm. InchThere are lots of very good reasons why this kind of rock´n'roll has never gone out of fashion,Inch band members David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink), John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, Ratt), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy) and Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner) agree. InchOur songs are simply timeless, immortal, classic! That's why working with The Dead Daisies is so much fun, and that's why the reaction is always phenomenal, no matter when and where this band turns up.Inch Album Tracks 1. Long Way to Go 2. Composer and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire makes his Nonesuch Records debut with Owl Song on December 15, 2023. The album features a trio with two musicians Akinmusire has long admired, guitarist Bill Frisell and drummer Herlin Riley.InchThis is my reaction to being assaulted by information, Inch Akinmusire says of Owl Song. InchThis record is me wanting to create a safe space. Part of the challenge was Can I create something that's oriented around open space, the way some of the records I love the most do?InchHe says of his collaborators, InchI had a feeling of wanting to record with Bill from the first time we played-it was a duo performance, very little rehearsal. We just played through some of my songs, and it worked. One of Bill's special gifts is the ability to shape a piece he's just heard for the first time. He seems to know what the music wants before the first note.InchWith Herlin, his commitment to beauty you can find in the groove. I never like to tell musicians too much about what I'm going for, because it should be about what these particular people bring... I said, 'I know you're the right person for this because of the way you approach the groove.' And, of course, what he did is just beautiful.Inch He continues, InchAlso, I wanted to put people together who didn't seem like they would go together... and it turns out they haven't played a lot. So, it was cross generational, cross subgenre, cross whatever.Inch Album Tracks 1. Owl Song 1 2. Weighted Corners 3. Flux Fuelings 4. Owl Song 2 5. Grace 6. Mr. Frisell 7. Mr. Riley 8. Henya
