Alexis Cole - A Kiss in the Dark - SUPER-AUDIO CD [Super Audio CD (SACD)]

After eight albums for a variety of labels, New York-born Alexis Cole joined audiophile specialist Chesky Records in 2014 for A Kiss In The Dark, which showcased the company's groundbreaking binaural recording technique. Capturing Cole and her band (guitarist Saul Rubin, saxophonist and clarinet player Dan Block, bassist Pat O'Leary, and drummer Phil Stewart) live using a single hi-res microphone, A Kiss In The Dark found the velour-voiced singer taking a deep dive into ancient jazz history by putting a contemporary spin on songs mainly from the late 1910s and early 1920s. Ranging from finger-clicking swingers ('Chicago, That Toddlin' Town') and evocative blues ('Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out') to Dreamy ballads ('Indian Summer'), A Kiss In The Dark shows why the golden-voiced Alexis Cole belongs to America's highest tier of jazz vocalists. The album is reissued on SACD Hybrid Stereo and will be released on 17 October, 2025. Details 1. Ain't We Got Fun 2. Whip-Poor-Will 3. Do You Ever Think of Me? 4. Limehouse Blues 5. Chicago, That Toddlin' Town 6. Bimini Bay 7. Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out 8. After You've Gone 9. There's a Broken Heart for Every Light on Broadway 10. A Kiss in the Dark 11. Indian Summer 12. Turn Back the Universe and Give Me Yesterday 13. Let the Rest of the World Go By 14. Till We Meet Again

Ana Caram - Rio After Dark - SUPER-AUDIO CD [Super Audio CD (SACD)]

Now considered a bossa nova classic, 1989's Rio After Dark was São Paulo singer/guitarist Caram's debut for Chesky Records, a New York tag renowned for it's high-resolution audiophile recordings. Caram was mentored by the legendary bossa nova pioneer Antônio Carlos Jobim, who joined his protege on two of the album's fifteen cuts, playing piano and singing background vocals on Caram's versions of his classic songs 'Meditation' and 'Anos Dourados (It Looks Like December).' Another star cameo came from the Grammy-winning Cuban-American reed player Paquito D'Rivera, who plays saxophone and clarinet on the tracks 'La Cumbia' and 'O Que Vier Eu Traço.' Accompanied by pianist/composer/producer David Chesky, flutist Steve Sacks, bassist David Finck, and percussionists Carlos Alberto de Oliveira and Café, Caram's sinuous vocals and syncopated fretwork showed she was an authentic new voice continuing the bossa nova tradition. The album is reissued on SACD Hybrid Stereo in 2025. Details 1. Rio After Dark 2. Alagoas 3. Meditation 4. Viola Fora de Moda 5. Summer Days 6. La Cumbia 7. Anos Dourados 8. Renovaçào 9. Rainbow 10. O Que Vier Eu Traço 11. Sem Legenda 12. Forever 13. O Tempo E O 14. Lugar 15. Serrado 16. You've Got a Friend
