With this being my first Atelier game, I did not know what to expect when I started playing the game. In the short time that I've spent playing, I find myself torn between two opposing opinions. On one hand, I find the pacing to be extremely slow, almost grinding in nature, when it comes to leveling up. Granted, you get to choose when to fight as the monsters do not pop at random. Still, the amount of experience gained is really low. But on the other hand, the design of the game for crafting, the character interactions, the complex time and day that affects a variety of things, they're all great. The story is intriguing and I love the character designs thus far. I'm not entirely sure if the pacing will pick up when I get to a certain part of the game. But the time I've spent with it thus far, and where I am at in the story, it felt pretty long. I have managed to branch out and explore new areas. Yet the unfortunate drawback is that I cannot hope to possibly beat some of the monsters that inhabit those new areas because of how low level my entire party is. I truly want to recommend this game due to how unique this game is. But I cannot find it within me to do so. I guess this is a great pick-up if you're a fan of the Atelier series. There are quite a few good points about this game. It's just the only drawback is the pacing of your character's/party's battle strength.

...there is absolutely no reason to not like this one. Charming and generally relaxing just like the others with the added bonus of having no time limit to turn stuff in like the previous ones. Plus, on PS4, which makes things zippier and a little prettier.

Overall this game feels like any other from the Atelier series. The characters are lively, the world is colorful, and the game is relaxing. The biggest change as usual comes from the synthesis. Now there is a grid where you are placing ingredients to try to increase their power. It is not a hard system to understand, but can be a bit frustrating to use as it does take some trial and error. If you liked any of the games in the Atelier series, you will probably find this one to be very similar.

The majority of the game has a very positive tone, which is refreshing. All of the characters are developed thoroughly, but most casual players would probably find the main story boring. Not for everyone.

This is a great Atelier game to start, if you haven't played one before - but it's nothing really new for veterans. Solid game, but not spectacular.

Getting this out of the way first. If you like Atelier games, you'll like this game. If you like crafting and adventuring you might like this as well. It is a good game, but I am not certain it holds up compared to previous games. First, the story is mediocre and never really grabbed me. It is difficult to really understand the goal as you play, though the end goal is apparent, just intermediate is unclear. You reach road block monsters and knowing the way to improve to get past them is equally unclear. Essentially you better know how these games work or have a guide if you expect a shot at beating it. Understand it is finite how much you can do, you have a limit set on when the game ends, so messing up time use can essentially make winning impossible. Characters are uninteresting as well and never really grab you.
