Meddle is the sixth studio album by Pink Floyd, released on 31 October 1971 by Harvest Records. It was produced between the band's touring commitments, from January to August 1971. The album was recorded at a series of locations around London, including Abbey Road Studios and Morgan Studios. With no material to work with and no clear idea of the album's direction, the group devised a series of novel experiments which eventually inspired the album's signature track, InchEchoesInch. Although many of the band's later albums would be unified by a central theme with lyrics written mainly by Roger Waters, Meddle was a group effort with lyrical contributions from each member, and is considered a transitional album between the Syd Barrett-influenced group of the late 1960s and the emerging Pink Floyd. Ivory Vinyl. The Swell Season is back. After reconvening for a limited number of sold-out shows, including Radio City Music Hall in New York, the duo returns with new music. A studio session that started out as an effort to create a couple of new songs for tour, ended up yielding a full-length album, fittingly titled InchForwardInch their first full length album in 16 years after the huge global success of their Oscar winning turn in the film InchOnceInch. It's story and accompanying soundtrack also went on to become an award-winning musical around the world. The album consists of 8 tracks written by Glen Hansard and Markeeta Irglovae, who take turns singing the lead. Building on the foundation of and with respect to their shared history, they move forward as two equals, supporting and lifting each other up. Accompanied by old band members and produced by Sturla Mio Thorisson, they create a sound both old and new for The Swell Season.
