About this product
2011 album from the Alt-Rock boy/girl duo comprised of Kacey Underwood and Alice Costelloe. Lights Out, co-produced by Underwood and Dean Reid, emerges from it's bedroom beginnings as a collection of 12 deeply personal songs with universal appeal, innately tapping into the innocence, insecurity, wonder and (sometimes unrequited) love and lust of relationships. The album opens with the nostalgic sweep of 'Distant Neighborhood', a blissful, sun-kissed introduction. The raw, confessional 'Talk' perfectly illustrates the push-pull of relationships, 'Seraphine' is enchanting in it's deep reflection while 'Homework' is achingly beautiful in it's schoolyard simplicity. 'Locked Up', a wall-of-sound swoon fleshed out from it's early recordings, could well be one of the most raggedly affecting love songs this year. Overall, these are songs which are structurally sparse yet emotively rich, sweet and seductive yet raw and jagged. Mute. Album Tracks 1. Distant Neighborhood 2. Chair 3. Cool Like Kurt 4. Swoon 5. Homework 6. Talk 7. With the World at My Feet 8. Locked Up 9. Summer Cold 10. Visions 11. Seraphine 12. Pi

Two CDs. Long before Bob Marley's rise to pre-eminence, the title of the world's leading reggae performer rested firmly with another young singer from Kingston, Jamaica Desmond Dekker. Between 1967 and 1970, Desmond enjoyed a succession of international hit singles, breaking new ground with singles such as '007', the first Jamaican-produced single to break into the UK top twenty, and 'Israelites', the first reggae single to reach the Number One spot in Britain and to breach the US chart. Further triumphs followed thereafter, with major chart hits including 'It Mek', 'Pickney Gal', 'You Can Get It If You Really Want' and 'Sing A Little Song', all of which cemented his place in history as Jamaica's first global superstar. All these works, along with the best of his remaining recordings from the ska, rock steady and reggae eras are featured on this compilation, featuring extensive liner notes and imagery, the set pays due respect to the original King of Reggae and superbly demonstrates the immense talent that set Desmond Dekker apart from his peers during the Golden Age of Jamaican music.
