A: Hi Chantal, No, you do not need to pay a subscription to be able to use the Blink Outdoor 4 Wireless cameras. You can use the Blink Outdoor 4 cameras without a subscription, but you will not be able to save video clips to the cloud and will be limited in some features. Without a subscription, you can still use live view, receive motion-based notifications, and use two-way audio. With a Blink Sync Module (like the one included in the Outdoor 4 with the XR module), you can also save video recordings locally to a MicroSD card. Hope you have a great day.

A: The Basic plan covers one device, while the Plus plan ($10/month) covers the entire account no matter how many devices there are. Only the 'Blink Sync Module 2' is able to utilize a USB drive for Local Storage. Our devices are tested and rated to accurately detect motion up to 20' away. With higher sensitivity settings things further than 20' may be picked up, however they are not rated to.

Specifically, "Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm (0.25 in)) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects." So you won't have any issues with the average rain storm or snow fall with the Outdoor 4! They're also rated to function from -4 to 113 Fahrenheit , though extremely cold temperatures might have an impact on the battery life.
