There is a subscription for our cloud storage, but customers are not required to use it. Another storage option is local storage, activated by plugging a USB flash drive into a Sync Module 2 (or a Micro SD card into a Sync Module XR). Local storage has no recurring fee to use the feature. Either of these storage options will let you view clips remotely from your phone. Without a storage system for your clips your system will be able to detect motion, notify you of the motion, and live view. You can use the Blink Outdoor 4 cameras without a subscription, but you will not be able to save video clips to the cloud and will be limited in some features. Without a subscription, you can still use live view, receive motion-based notifications, and use two-way audio. With a Blink Sync Module (like the one included in the Outdoor 4 with the XR module), you can also save video recordings locally to a MicroSD card. Hope you have a great day.
