Q: Do we need to pay a subscription to be able to use the cameras?

A: There is a subscription for our cloud storage, but customers are not required to use it. Another storage option is local storage, activated by plugging a USB flash drive into a Sync Module 2 (or a Micro SD card into a Sync Module XR). Local storage has no recurring fee to use the feature. Either of these storage options will let you view clips remotely from your phone. Without a storage system for your clips your system will be able to detect motion, notify you of the motion, and live view. Q: Subscription service says $3 mo to one device. I assume that means one camera, so each add camera is another $3 on basic plan. Also micro storage can be used on this not just the XR version? How about a USB stick? Will camera pick up objects 100ft away?

A: The Basic plan covers one device, while the Plus plan ($10/month) covers the entire account no matter how many devices there are. Only the 'Blink Sync Module 2' is able to utilize a USB drive for Local Storage. Our devices are tested and rated to accurately detect motion up to 20' away. With higher sensitivity settings things further than 20' may be picked up, however they are not rated to.

Q: Can these camera hold up in the rain and snow?

A: Hi Tavo! The Blink Outdoor 4 is IP65 rated, meaning that it's completely dust tight and resists jets of water. Specifically, "Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm (0.25 in)) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects." So you won't have any issues with the average rain storm or snow fall with the Outdoor 4! They're also rated to function from -4 to 113 Fahrenheit , though extremely cold temperatures might have an impact on the battery life.
