Vinyl LP pressing. When Oscar Peterson arrived for a two-week engagement at Baker's Keyboard Lounge in Detroit in early August 1960, the pianist's year-old trio, featuring bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen, was ascending to new artistic peaks. Intended at the time as a live album for Verve but never released, the music on 'At Baker's Keyboard Lounge' features remarkable, previously unissued performances, all taped on a single Friday night. No matter the tempo, rhythm, or complexity of the arrangement, the three players breathe as one on these recordings, phrasing as if controlled by a single heartbeat. These new-to-the-world recordings, made in Peterson's prime at the longest continuously operating jazz club in the US, remind you that there will never be anyone else like Oscar Peterson. Album Tracks 1. Politics and Poker [Live] 2. Dancing on the Ceiling [Live] 3. S'posin' [Live] 4. Django [Live] 5. Liza (All the Clouds'll Roll Away) [Live] 6. Where Do I Go from Here? [Live] 7. Yesterdays [Live] 8. Softly As in a Morning Sunrise [Live] 9. Touch of Your Lips [Live]

Dizzy Gillespie/Sonny Stitt/Sonny Rollins - InchSonny Side Up (Verve Vault Series)Inch. Sonny Side Up, released in 1959 on Verve Records, is the masterful studio collaboration between trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and tenor saxophonists Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt. Recorded in December 1957 with producer Norman Granz, the album brings together three of modern jazz's most distinctive musicians in a rare frontline configuration. Gillespie, already a pivotal architect of bebop, trades choruses with two tenor titans of contrasting approach Rollins, with his thematic development and rhythmic elasticity, and Stitt, with his rapid-fire bebop fluency. It's rumored that Gillespie playfully pitted Rollins and Stitt against each other ahead of the session which resulted in the bar being raised and the creation of an iconic album. Make no mistake, though, the two trade blows throughout the set leaving no doubt that both are heavyweight champions. The Verve Vault Series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal. Album Tracks 1. On the Sunny Side of the Street 2. Eternal Triangle 1. After Hours 2. I Know That You Know
