Brahms / Bach / Wagner / Bruckner - Joseph Keilberth-Rare Record - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

'Pine State Honky Tonk' (Atomicat ACCD017) begins our journey through Hillbilly Music Culture with an exploration of the tunes that laid the groundwork for the transformation in the music industry, from Country Boogie through to the changing direction of the Hillbilly genre. The aim of these albums is to; entertain and introduce people to the various styles of Hillbilly, Western Swing and Country Honky Tonk music throughout the series. The five albums in this series will focus on tunes with a dance tempo, some great foot tapping ditties with one or two instrumentals to vary the flavour. We do not join in the debate Inchwhat was the first Rock 'N' Roll song?Inch, too much conjecture, the music is here to be enjoyed and danced to and is mainly but not exclusively pre Rock 'N' Roll music. These are albums compiled by rocking people, for rocking people and one man's jive is another man's bop, and the music is here to be played not strictly categorised Artists featured include; Western King supremo's Pee Wee King, Hank Penny, Jerry Irby and Leon McAuliffe as an introduction to the genre. Hillbilly Boogie comes from InchLittleInch Jimmy Dickens, Red Foley, and Tennessee Ernie. The Hillbilly Cats are; Al Terry Gene O'Quin, Johnny Tyler and Jack Tucker. Patsy Cline and Bonnie Lou more than compete with the featured male artists. This is an introduction and there is more to discover on this and the forth coming four volumes. This 'Atomicat' album is compiled by well-known Dee Jay and face on the music scene Mark Armstrong, who has been Dee Jaying since his early teen years. Our albums have; stunning design, sleeve notes, 28 songs, mastered for the best possible sound available. The disc is housed in an attractively constructed cardboard sleeve, specially designed to avoid the use of plastic and be environmentally friendly. The album is great to play at home and perfect for Dee

This set of 'live' authorized recordings featuring the highly distinguished conductor Bruno Walter with the BBC Symphony Orchestra comes from the BBC's annual May Festival, held in London in 1955. None of these recordings has been published before, and in the case of Wagner's Faust Overture, this is Walter's only post-war account. The mid-1950s saw Walter at the height of his powers, and the 'live' recordings here are very focused, having a great sense of forward movement and excitement - most notably in Haydn's Symphony No.96 and Mahler's Symphony No.1 - compared to some of the studio accounts in the early 1960s when Walter was well into his 80s. The set also contains Walter with the great German soprano Irmgard Seefried in 'Wo die schönen Trompeten blasen' from Des Knaben Wunderhorn, which illustrates both her superb artistry and his genius as a Mahler conductor. Brahms's Song of Destiny (Schicksalslied), a Walter favorite, completes the set. All recordings have been sourced from the Richard Itter archive, as Beecham caught 'live' often showed the mercurial side of his character, and no performance was the same either in the studio or in the concert hall. All the performances included here from the Edinburgh Festival, London's Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and the BBC Studios are from Beecham's final years, from 1954 when he had fully established the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and himself as central figures in England's musical life, to 1959 when he conducted an extraordinarily memorable account of Brahms's Symphony No.2. Every broadcast is captured here in exemplary sound for the time. Album Tracks 1. Symphony No. 1 in D Major 2. Wo Die Schönen Trompeten Blasen 3. A Faust Overture 4. Symphony No. 96 in D Major 'Miracle' 5. Schicksalslied Op. 54
