4.5 Stars I've been using the Drone Mobile Dash Cam for a while now, and my experience has been quite positive overall. The device functions well and has been reliable in capturing footage during my drives. One aspect that caught me by surprise was the need for an additional subscription to access LTE functionality. This wasn't clearly highlighted before my purchase, and it's something potential buyers should be aware of. Without the LTE subscription, some advanced features are unavailable, which might be a drawback for some users. However, during the free trial period of the LTE service, I found one feature particularly impressive: whenever an alarm is triggered, the dash cam automatically sends a clip of the incident directly to my phone. This real-time alert and recording feature is incredibly useful for security purposes and adds significant value to the device. Another point to note is that the Drone Mobile Dash Cam replaces any existing Drone Mobile module in your vehicle. This was another detail I wasn't initially aware of, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're integrating it into a system you already have. The dash cam mounts securely to the windshield. Its compact design ensures it doesn't obstruct the driver's view, which is a crucial aspect for safety and convenience. Despite these minor issues, the dash cam has been performing well, capturing clear and reliable footage. If you're okay with the additional subscription for LTE services and are aware of the module replacement requirement, the Drone Mobile Dash Cam is a solid choice.

Absolutely amazing video quality. Is amazing always knowing my car is secure and safe, being able to look at live video and live gps data. As well as notifications any time my system is triggered.

I purchased this set for the LTE connectivity for the most part. However overall this is a mixed bag. I have had this camera set in two different cars now, I am about 7 months in, here has been my experiences so far. - I had them installed at a location about 90 minutes away from my home, I declined making the installer pair it to my phone, I figured I would do that at home. It never paired to my phone, got to the point I called Compustar for help, they immediately said they haven't seen that before, but I need to exchange it. Not super helpful, was not willing to diagnos anything. Just said swap it. I had to drive to a different location since they had it in stock, that one was an hour. I swapped the camera, and boom it activated perfectly. - I originally had the setting "automatically upload video if alarm goes off" enabled, seemed like a killer option, however, my remote start / security also had an issue, and it was setting the alarm off every 30 secs or so, so in a few hours I blew through my data limit. I had to eventually just not lock my car. This was all resolved after a week or so. But still rough it killed my remote data limit, and even Compustar wasnt willing to do anything with the data, or reset anything. It wasnt the end of the world, but annoying I had to change what plan for the rest of the month when it was still a defect on their side. here are some of the worst CONS I have run into with this camera - The "manual record" button the unit is not like what I am used to, it starts recording that moment. I am used to the button goes back like 30 secs and then saves that file. This camera it starts recording when you pressed the button. So the few times I witnessed something, I would hit the button, then I went to check the footage, and its the minutes after the button press. Just useless. - SOUNDS, are just dumb on this thing. "recording started" or a sound every time you hit a bump. Fine there is a setting to disable the sounds of the camera, seems like a winner right? Nope, Any error message like "SD card error, please reformat" Is also muted. They need to make errors / priority messages still said. For who knows how long I was not recording, since I turned the camera sounds off. - The membership plans are CLUNKY, I had to have a membership for remote controlling the car, and one for the camera. But I got a trial, then in the middle of the trial I got an email saying I needed to pay, but that was talking about drone, not the camera plan. They need three plans, Control, Watch, Control and Watch. Then it would be easy. I have had to help a friend also with getting their membership kinda cleared up. - Not deal breakers but little silly things: - You cant name camera 2, so my app looks good, says "Front" and "cam 2" would be nice to name them even back or interior. Just cam 2. - The security screw with the mount is kinda a pain to get to and remove the SD card, and will limit some placement of the dash camera. Pros of this camera: - Having LTE remote view front and rear is awesome, being able to see both sides has been awesome. - Quality is fine, the footage isnt amazing, but much clearer then dash cameras started with. - No screen, this is a personal preference, but I think ones without screens look so much nicer. - Integration with the alarm when working correctly does work well, you can get real time readouts of your battery voltage, temperature in your cabin, and the automatic uploads (when working correctly) Overall, this is a ok camera, and with the alarm its a good possibility, but stand alone I dont think its there yet.

Video quality is great. Love the option to live view. Plugs into my Compustar remote start and alarm system. Small and slim design.

Good picture Easy to install App is fairly easy to use. Data plans could be better Got it because I bought a brand new truck and people drive like idiots nowadays

It's a good product. But here are things to know. If you have the full system alarm and starter, the dashcam will replace your X1 LTE. This is NOT good because if someone breaks in and cuts the wires on the dash cam (which are easily accessible), you will lose the car's trackability. The great thing about the X1 LTE (tracker) is that it is hidden within the car dashboard and requires know-how to disconnect. Overall, it is a good product as far as dashcams are concerned, but if you drive a highly sought-after car (Hellcat Redeye), this product will not work for you. That is the reason why I returned it and went back to my Nexar system.

At $379.99, it is definitely on the higher end of dash cams, but the combination of LTE connectivity, GPS, and expandability makes it worth considering for those who value both safety and security. If you’re looking for a dash cam that doubles as a security system with real-time tracking and monitoring, the XC Dash Camera is a powerful option. It’s best suited for users who want peace of mind, advanced features, and premium reliability, rather than just basic recording.

Not only do you get an outstanding gps t4ackinf of where exactly your vehicle is locatwd but a Dashcam with percise view. I highly recommend this product to Anyone!!

I’ve only bought compustar remote starters for my family’s cars. So when I heard that they made a dash cam that plugs into my remote start, I knew I had to try it out. The drone dash cam seems to work just like a normal dash cam but i love that I can warm up my car and live stream video from the same app. There is a subscription! But the prices are decent and the company sent me a coupon code for Labor Day so pretty good. Tracking and streaming for about $18 bucks month.

Amazing camara system, i used to have the older version of the Drone mobile, that was remote starter lock and unlock gsp and notifications from your alarm system, maintenance minders but needed to have my camera always on my available. Hands down best upgrade i have ever done on my vehicle, amazing quality pictures and videos on the cam plus live video from anywhere! Will definitely recommend it!

Although I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, the kit comes supplied with the hardwire harness. This made for a quick and easy install in my F150 in less than 1 hour! This cam has plenty of great features, and the system can be easily expanded with accessories offered through the manufacturer. I love the ability to live stream using LTE and the app's ease of use.

Wish it was 4k and 3 channel, subscription plans needs to be updated to cell phone subscriptions can be very costly on the subscription side

Not sure if it was the way the worker set it up but it constantly send me notifications and they’re incorrect. I got a glass broken notification and i wasn’t home and i wasn’t able to enjoy my night anymore had to go home and there was no broken glass. It says alarm triggered notification but the alarm isn’t going off. Also the data plans are incredibly high.

It's a poor product to purchase. The drone XC camera drained my 2024 Highland battery, so I just need to trash the installed dash cam.

Fantastic build quality, sleek design and great picture. Integrates with your Compustar remote start/security system all on the same app (if you don't have that you definitely should get it!). This is one of only a handful of cams that allow you to check in on your vehicle when you are away from it. A monthly subscription fee is required for the cool feature of being able to view from anywhere but at $7 a month it's more than reasonable to me. Some folks have left comments saying that if you are already in the Drone ecosystem, you have to replace your existing Drone with the dash cam and that is not entirely true. While it is recommended, you can also leave your drone as is and hard wire the dash cam (you'd end up having two separate subscriptions), though i opted not to do this due to battery life concerns since i can go weeks without driving sometimes. Additionally, i think the concerns on having to replace the drone with the cam are unfounded as if you are already in the Drone ecosystem you probably have the security setup so even if someone got in your car and ripped out the cam to disable the GPS tracking, they still would not be able to start the car!!
