Django Reinhardt - Essential Electric - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Known for his Gypsy influenced acoustic guitar playing, the jazz icon plugged in occasionally and this 14 track CD compilation is dedicated to his best electrified explorations. 14 tracks including Brazil, Blues For Ike, Honeysuckle Rose, Minor Swing, September Song, Confessin' That I Love You, Insensiblement, Manoir de Mas Reves, New York City and more. Django Reinhardt had already established himself as an exceptional and innovative guitarist and regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. His influence can be heard in many genres. Even Willie Nelson has given credit to Django and his unique approach to swing music. His recordings are numerous as he was prolific. He loved to play and as often as possible. These are the best of his electric recordings. Django took a rudimentary approach by sticking a microphone in his guitar, attached to a small amplifier. What an amazing sound he achieved. No modern day guitar can duplicate the sound Django achieved during the years of 1947-1953. Seldom heard, these instrumentals stand the test of time and certainly put Django alongside Charlie Christian as yet another InchGenius of the Electric Guitar.Inch Django Reinhardt is hands down one of the most legendary guitar players in the entire history of jazz. Most noted for his Gypsy influenced acoustic guitar playing, this collection instead focuses on his lesser known electric guitar recordings including unreleased material he cut with Duke Ellington & His Orchestra in 1946. Rock Beat Records' rare offering Essential Electric gathers fourteen of Django Reinhardt's most essential electric recordings here on a single CD. Album Tracks 1. Brazil 2. Blues for Ike 3. Honeysuckle Rose 4. Blues Riff 5. Minor Swing 6. September Song 7. Topsy 8. Night and Day 9. New York City 10. Mano 11. Confessin' That I Love You 12. Insensiblement 13. Manoir de Mas R

Django Reinhardt - Collection 1935-46 Vol. 2 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Django Reinhardt provides one of those unique strands of jazz which was hugely significant and distinctive, and which effectively stand on their own as an expression of one man's thoroughly individual style, influences and sound. Born in Belgium of Manouche Romany descent, he became the focus of the InchhotInch jazz movement in France with his unique guitar style (he used only two fingers of his left hand, the others having been paralysed in a fire). With violinist Stephane Grappelli, he created the Quintette du Hot Club de France in Paris in the mid-30s, recording not only with that line-up, but with other musicians and leaders, as well as solo and in duets with Grappelli. This great-value 48-track 2-CD collection is a follow-up to our highly popular and successful earlier The Django Reinhardt Collection 1935-46 (Fabulous FADCD2036), and draws both from completely different recording sessions during those years or on other titles from the same sessions covering the core of his career, most notably the concentrated period of creative activity in Paris and London during the late '30s before WWII made their modus operandi more difficult. A significant proportion of his recording sessions are represented, from solo recordings through many of his sessions with different incarnations of the Quintette Du Hot Club du Paris, and with other musicians. He was a hugely prolific recording artist, and, as one would expect, always performed to a consistently high standard, so this selection of recordings provides a further insight into a unique talent and one of the most innovative jazz guitarists of all time. Album Tracks 1. After You've Gone - Django Reinhardt 2. Confessin' - Django Reinhardt 3. Dinah 4. Tiger Rag 5. Swanee River 6. Clouds 7. Some of These Days 8. Chinatown, My Chinatown - Stephane Grappelli and His Hot Four 9. I'se a Muggin' 10. I Can't
