About this product
Drunk Uncle hail from Austin, TX, but their namesakes are probably drawn from someone you know. Think about your last family gettogether- Uncle Bill is halfway through a six-pack when the alien conspiracy theories start pouring out of his mouth. He starts chaotic and loud, then gets quiet and sad as he keeps drinking. His mood will swing wildly in-between emotions. His speech is raw and his vulnerability is beautiful. Bottle that energy up into music form and you have Drunk Uncle. Drunk Uncle's debut album InchLook UpInch draws on catharsis. Picture yourself in a grimy basement surrounded by your best friends, watching a band as music washes over you and you feel like everything is in the right place. You smile as frantic guitars fill the room and gruff vocals push out every emotion you could possibly feel. Drums and bass slow down and speed back up as the music moves from anger to regret to hope. You feel it all- every note, every hit, every strain. It feels good to feel. You open your eyes and you are in your room alone. You flip the record back over and you are back in the basement. Drunk Uncle isolated themselves into a cabin on an East Texas farm to write and record the follow up to their debut Look Up in 2022. The result InchO, brittle weather!Inch is a thoughtful, probing album that explores a cacophony of sounds in a playful and whimsical way. The album feels like a telling of a great story- songs like pages colored with splashes of acoustic and electric guitars, floating bass, keys, horns, and percussion that ranges from a whole kit to a single tambourine that succinctly cues up the next chapter. Narrated by melodic vocals belting out emotional poetry, InchO, brittle weather!Inch seems to plead with you to keep listening until the last word. Then, it begs you to listen again. Most bands are content to just collect a handful of songs and group them together as an album. Drunk Uncle strived to make something bigger than themselves. And wouldn't you know it, they succeeded. InchO, brittle weather!Inch comes out 5/24 on Count Your Lucky Stars. Available digitally and on vinyl. Album Tracks 1. Sundried 2. Cabin 3. Banquet 4. Dutch Uncles, Manchester's much-revered electro art rock quartet, return with their long-awaited sixth album, True Entertainment (released March 10, 2023 on Memphis Industries). Taking inspiration from Yellow Magic Orchestra, Prince, Steely Dan, Ennio Morricone, The Blue Nile, Kate Bush and Roxy Music, InchTrue Entertainment behaves like it knows it's been away for some time, and doesn't apologise for that, Inch jokes vocalist / lyricist Duncan Wallis. InchUltimately, it's written with the mindset that on our sixth album, we're only in competition with ourselves when it comes to finding satisfaction in our craft.Inch True to this mantra, True Entertainment bears some of the most delightfully fun Dutch Uncles music to date; paired with some of their most existential and introspective lyrics. What is success? Am I enough? How can I better? (and can I afford to be better?) True Entertainment is the long-awaited follow up to Big Balloon (2017), an album which spawned three playlisted singles on BBC Radio 6 Music and enjoyed widespread acclaim from the likes of Uncut (Incha high flying triumphInch 8/10), The Guardian (Inchit's songs barge in with urgencyInch 4*), The Quietus, DIY, Exclaim!, Q, Under the Radar and many, many more.True EntertainmentDamascenes Tropigala (2 to 5)Poppin'Exit RowI'm Not Your DadDeep EndIn SalviaEnd BeliefDead Letter Album Tracks 1.
