Looks amazing in 4k for a film over 50 years old!

Warner Bros. is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year by releasing newly remastered films on disc and digital and one of those titles is the classic martial arts feature Enter the Dragon. For a film that is over 50 years old the remastering is commendable. The new presentation still holds the look of 70s cinema but in a quality never-before-seen at home or in cinemas. Not all shots are razor sharp like you find in more contemporary movies, but some of the close-ups and establishing shots are exceptional. The Dolby Atmos mix certainly takes this movie to another level, with excellent sound that is still mainly central with the dialogue but music surrounds the viewing space. The only thing that is lacking in this 4k Blu-ray release are the bonus materials available on other Blu-ray releases of Enter the Dragon.

    Enter the dragon UHD 4k

Enter the Dragon is a classic martial arts film that showcases the legendary Bruce Lee's skills, charisma, and philosophy. The film follows Lee, a Shaolin monk and martial artist, who is recruited by British intelligence to infiltrate a mysterious island owned by a crime lord named Han. There, he participates in a martial arts tournament, where he faces various opponents and uncovers Han's secrets. Along the way, he also seeks revenge for the death of his sister, who was killed by one of Han's henchmen. The film is widely regarded as one of the best and most influential martial arts films of all time, and it launched Lee's international fame and popularity. The film features iconic scenes, such as Lee's fight with a cobra, his confrontation with Han in a hall of mirrors, and his nunchaku duel with a group of guards. The film also has a memorable soundtrack, composed by Lalo Schifrin, that blends jazz, funk, and oriental influences. The film has been released on UHD Blu-ray to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and the quality of the disc is impressive. The video transfer is based on a new 4K scan of the original 35mm negative, and it offers a stunning level of detail, clarity, and color. The film's grain structure is preserved, giving it a natural and filmic look. The HDR10 enhancement adds more brightness, contrast, and depth to the image, making the colors pop and the shadows richer. The film's aspect ratio is 2.4:1, and the disc has an average bitrate of 48 Mbps. The audio track is a Dolby Atmos mix, which is a significant upgrade from the previous Blu-ray releases. The track uses the height channels to create a more immersive and realistic soundstage, with sounds coming from above and around the listener. The dialogue is clear and centered, and the sound effects are crisp and dynamic. The film's score is also well-balanced and enveloping, adding to the mood and tension of the scenes. The track has a bitrate of 4.6 Mbps, and it is also compatible with Dolby TrueHD 7.1. The disc also includes both the theatrical and the special edition cuts of the film, which can be selected from the menu. The special edition adds four minutes of extra footage, mostly related to Lee's character and his backstory. The disc also has a digital copy code, which can be redeemed at WB.com or MoviesAnywhere, and it gives access to the special edition in 4K Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio. The only downside of the disc is that it does not include a Blu-ray copy, which means that the bonus features from the previous releases are not available on this edition. The disc only has two extras: a commentary by producer Paul Heller, and a new featurette called "Blood and Steel: The Making of Enter the Dragon", which is a 30-minute documentary that covers the production, the legacy, and the impact of the film. The featurette includes interviews with cast and crew members, film critics, and martial arts experts. Overall, the UHD Blu-ray of Enter the Dragon is a great way to enjoy this classic film in the best possible quality. The video and audio transfers are superb, and the film itself is a masterpiece of the genre. The disc is highly recommended for fans of Bruce Lee and martial arts films, as well as for anyone who appreciates a good action movie. The only drawback is the lack of a Blu-ray copy and the missing bonus features, which may disappoint some collectors. However, the disc is still worth buying for the film and the A/V presentation alone.
