Questions & Answers
What is the difference between the 5170 and the 5180 printers?
Answered by EpsonHello Kay. The ET-5170 and ET-5180 are both very similar in specifications. The main difference is that the ET-5180 includes PCL/PostScript support. If you need PCL/PostScript support, we recommend choosing the ET-5180, and you can find the latest driver available for download on our official Epson Support page. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
Will it print 11 x 17 paper
Answered by EpsonHi Smoak, The EcoTank Pro ET-5170's paper path is 8.5 inches wide. The largest sheet it can print is 8.5 inches by 14 inches. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.
I understand that Epson recommends printing with the ET-5170 at least every couple of weeks to prevent clogged print nozzles. If that's correct, is it necessary to print in multiple colors each time or just printing black text each time is adequate?
Answered by EpsonHi PrinterGirl, If you are printing to keep ink from drying around the nozzles to prevent potential clogs you should print using color and black. A nozzles check uses all the colors so it is a convenient way to do a biweekly print. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.
Does it support duplex scanning? If not, which ecotank printer supports duplex scanning?
Answered by EpsonHello duplex. The ET-5170 can only do Automatic 2-Sided printing. Unfortunately, the ET-5170 does not include Automatic 2-Sided scanning. We recommend looking at ET-5880 as the printer includes Automatic 2-Sided print, copy, scan, and fax functionality. The printer is currently in stock on BestBuy's website, but please be aware that inventory can change at any time. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
