He began the year by touring Australia for the first time, and less than a week after returning, he would be back in Capitol's KHJ Studios to begin recording one of his most treasured albums, In the Wee Small Hours, a concept album which would enter the Billboard charts on May 28, 1955. It would rise to #2 and remain on the chart for a total of 33 weeks.
