You get your bang for your buck
I have had this watch for almost a month now. I used to have an apple watch and once the battery stopped holding a full charge I knew it was time to go. I will start with my dislikes on this watch. 1: the watch is not a touch screen, and while this prevents the watch from automatically starting workouts (which I encountered occasionally with my apple watch), I still find it a bit inconvenient. 2: the watch will not track your V02 max unless you start a run on the watch. I use a few different fitness apps and record my runs on them mostly, so after my fourth run I realized even if I sync my workouts on garmin connect, I don’t get a reading unless I start the run on my watch also. 3: garmin connect does not sync with fitness apps. I have used fitbod for years now, and also recently started using strava instead of MapMyRun. It doesn’t matter if I log weight training or runs on the aforementioned apps, I always have to go into garmin connect and log the workouts individually once complete. Here are the things I like about the watch. 1: the battery life! Once your watch is fully charged, it lasts two weeks (14 days) before needing a recharge. Unlike my apple watch where I would sacrifice sleep tracking to charge the watch overnight, I can wear my forerunner during the day and night. The only time I take it off is when I shower. It also does not take long to charge, I’ve charged it once in the time I’ve had it and it only took a bit over an hour. 2: it tracks heart rate, steps, sleep score, stress, naps, HRV status, V02 max, and more. It also gives you a recap once you wake up of your sleep and previous day’s accomplishments. 3: it’s comfortable to wear, and easy to adjust. It does not bother me while I sleep. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and glad that I switched over to garmin. Yes they are pricey, but you get your money’s worth utilizing all its features!

Love it
I love this watch. It really has helped me understand my running better. I love that it includes free training programs with the Garmin connect app. I have a structured plan to follow and it’s a bonus for someone like me that can’t afford a trainer route. The battery life is amazing. I replaced my Apple Watch with it. I’m bummed it doesn’t seem to connect to my apple fitness but I use this way more than I did my Apple Watch. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I’m considering one with more specs but this will do for now! Also I have accidentally bumped it on things and it has not scratched. If it were my Apple Watch it’d be looking pretty banged up :/

1.5 years later…Would buy over and over again!
I’ve had this watch for over a year and a half now so I feel like I can finally leave a proper review. I love everything about this watch- the features, battery life, and that it’s NOT touch screen. It’s very durable and has lasted me through countless runs, hikes, swims, ski runs, lifting workouts, HIIT classes, Pilates, and so many more activities. I also love the customizable watch faces and data fields within the workouts. I also have super small wrists and the band it came with fits well still. I honestly can’t say enough great things about Garmin or the forerunner 255 and recommend them this watch to literally anyone who will listen. If you’re looking for a quality watch with tons of running metrics, this is absolutely the watch for you! When this one eventually gives out (hopefully in several years) I will be replacing it with another forerunner!

An amazing watch.
I’ve been wearing the garmin for a couple months now. It’s actually quite amazing and definitely not comparable to an Apple Watch If you are coming from an Apple Watch you’ll feel like you’re going to a ‘dumb’ watch and I’m a big fan of it. Apples watch is too interconnected with ur iPhone and is basically ur phone on ur wrist. The garmin lowers that to a digestible amount of information. NOW for the actual garmin, the stats given are just top notch. All the running stats are fun for a new runner like me, but also informative. Rn I’m focusing on my form more than anything as it tells you how bad you are basically. For workouts it’s also great, I recently started weight lifting and the watch will give its best guess of what the workout is and reps and it’s pretty spot on, and if it’s not the app is still a bit clunky but easy to learn for making changes after the workout.

Best running watch I’ve owned
[Employee of bestbuy] I run cross country and distance track and have used an Apple Watch for years but after switching to this garmin it is the best thing that could ever happen to me. The gps and heart rate monitors are much more accurate and the garmin just has many other quality of life features that are great for runners. The battery life on my Apple Watch only lasted about a day where as this lasts about 2 weeks.
