Q: Our stove has a loud hum when the cooktop or oven is on. An appliance technician looked at it and said that the hum is normal for slide-in units because of the fan in the rear that cools the front controls. Has anyone else experienced this loud humming?

A: Id like to know the same thing. Sometimes it home is really loud if I have multiple pots on the stove. If I push on it it seems to stop but once I touch anything it comes back. Does anybody have any answers to this?

Q: We are installing this slide-in range along with new kitchen cabinets and quartz countertop. Will we need the additional countertop piece behind the range, as is needed by other slide-in ranges?

A: You do not, this stove slides all the way in against the back wall. Just did the exact same thing myself. They cut the piece because we’d not picked out our stove yet, they came to install and didn’t need it for this model.

Q: Can you use cast iron on the cooktop?

A: I love my new oven. I use my typical cookware which includes an iron skillet. The oven cooks thoroughly and efficiently. The Best Buy staff installing it were SUPERB!! One was a female - she was AMAZING!

Q: Since this is a slide in,does it include the slide in kit that goes on top to make it a slide in?

A: Hi - Thanks for choosing our GE® 30" Slide-In Electric Convection Range JS760ELES! This new design allows you to easily install the slide-in range in a standard 30" free-standing range space. See the Quick Specs at the following link: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=JS760BL_DL_EL_SL_R2_17.pdf - Slide-in Range Filler Kit JXFILLR1BB (Black) is sold separately. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM7195EKES equipped with cooktop lighting and 4-Speed 400-CFM Exhaust Fan to remove smoke, steam and odors from the kitchen air. We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch! SUEatGEA

Q: How long does it take for the burn in smell to go away?

A: We ran the self cleaning before we used it for baking, per the instructions. The fumes and smell were strong during the self clean, we needed to open a window and use a fan to push them out of the house. That was effective. After that was done, we have not noticed any smell at all other than the food cooking (the good kind of oven smell).
