Q: i was wondering how do you hard wire this device?
A: The Nest Doorbell (battery) can replace most wired doorbells, you can connect it to your doorbell wires and hear your existing chime when someone rings the doorbell. But this will require an 8 to 24 VAC, 10-40 VA transformer. We'd recommend that you check the compatibility first to know if a wired installation would work. Q: Will the Nest doorbell work with the Kangaroo Chime device. I do not have a door bell
A: Hey there, Di. Thanks for your question. The Nest Doorbell is designed to work with existing doorbell systems or as a standalone device with its built-in chime. It may not be directly compatible with the Kangaroo Chime device, as it is primarily intended to work within the Nest ecosystem. If you do not have an existing doorbell system and wish to use the Kangaroo Chime, you may need to check whether it offers any integrations or compatibility with the Nest Doorbell. To know more about your device, we recommend contacting our dedicated team of specialists on the Google Help page here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp
Q: Do I need to put base a chime .. don't have a doorbell
A: Hey there, Di! The doorbell can run on battery alone, but if you prefer it wired, it can be connected to doorbell system wires delivering 8 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA, 50/60Hz, worldwide. Make sure that power is sufficient, as some doorbell systems are incompatible or can’t deliver enough power. Alternatively, you can connect a Google speaker or display and set up visitor announcements if you want to get notified when someone rings your doorbell when you’re home. You'll only get visitor announcements on your speakers and displays if they are set up in the same home as your doorbell in the Home app. Learn more using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451. Also, if you have Alexa, Google offers a Smart Home skill for integrating your Nest devices with Amazon's Alexa home control. Alexa can announce when someone presses the doorbell or when the doorbell detects motion or events. A: They would be classified as two different devices. But that is a possibility. Charging is fast and infrequent. Seems like a waste in my opinion.

I'm using this is a security camera in a consignment shop. It's worked already to identify shoplifters as it's so small they aren't aware of it. I feel like the battery lasts at least 2 weeks. I've only had it a month and have only charged it one time. Plus there's quite a lot of recording that happens thoughout the day, about 30 or more clips, so i feel like its doing it's job well. I couldn't be happier. I especially like that the field of view is great to take in the entire display area and the video quality is great. The only downside is that its motion activated and therefore not 24/7 video streaming and therefore may stop recording if no movement. There may be a way to add it to Nest Aware account that i have, but i havent figured that out yet. Currently using Google Home app which is fine, but might prefer video streaming instead of just video clips which Nest Aware Plus would have. I'll research further. This was just a proof of concept for me and, so far, it's more than I expected.

While I am inundated with notifications on my phone with anyone whom the camera detects walking by or approaching, I enjoy the accuracy and quality of this doorbell camera. This is the battery nest doorbell and does not come with a doorbell chime, which I wish it did because your phone is the only way to tell if someone rings it; although, it’s great for it’s purpose and I have not had any problems with it so far.

This is our 4th door bell camera. Very officiant, practical, and easy to use. What we love the most as Airbnb hosts. That this camera has a facial recognition and you simply can add everyone and named them. This way everytime when someone else shows up or the guest who is not supposed to be there camera send notifications right away and you can talk through that as well. Awesome. Definitely not the last one.
