Mighty. Smart.
Nest Cam IQ is a seriously sharp outdoor security camera. It has brains to tell you when it sees a person and Supersight to show you an extra clear close-up tracking shot of who's there. It can even recognize familiar faces with Nest Aware.
A: Ditto. Best Buy??
A: Bob, the camera can be moved with some firm hand force; there is no included method of securing the position. It cannot be knocked off of the mount as the previous Nest outdoor camera. I needed two hands to rotate and pan the camera to get the desired angle. That should deter easy movement.
A: its not a problem to run it through the wall its low voltage. my nest cam is mounted outside then the wire goes into the soffit to the outlet in side
A: I’d tryout a test run in the area you trying to install. Before doing a finalized drilling and hardwire set up of my cameras, I did test runs with and extension cord and simply temporarily tapping them or positioning them in a few areas I thought of positioning them. I opened up the app in accordance with my test runs at night with my existing lights and found what looked best with image quality and live feed. Placement too close to the actual light may cause some extra unneeded over glow from the light so just play around with it till you find an area that you’re comfortable with. This for me is now my fourth camera company I’ve tried and Nest products are far superior than the others on the market so you’re certainly not wasting your time or money.
A: Yes, only monitoring is supported. Recording requires a subscription.
A: The camera itself does not support POE directly. Reading up on the hardware specs on the Nest site, this camera uses a USB-C cable to get power from the wall adapter to the camera. Currently one company I've found is working on a POE to USB-C converter with power on delivery that they claim will work for these cameras (and others devices that require USB-C power). You can find more info on this by checking out the blog for PoE Texas (or google POE-USBC-Kit). These have not been released yet at the time I'm posting this. I have POE lines run to my current cameras, so I will be giving this a try whenever these cameras & POE converters get released.
A: They were originally supposed to be available in mid-January, but I contacted Nest and was told they would available again about a month from now (end of February 2018).
Q: Looking for recommendations for the best wireless outdoor camera? Need at the least 2 of them.
A: Yes the Nest IQ is one of the best home security cameras. It has a better resolution in picture quality, and for the phone app, This cameras follows and automatically zooms in on a individual walking on your property , like front walk way. I have one IQ camera for my front door , but just recently replace my garage nest cam with the IQ model. Well worth it.
