I love the Nest protect, the Gen 2 is fantastic. I have several and they just work, make my life easier and I don’t worry about replacing the battery. Provide a night light and check it’s status via the app.

I carry both the Nest Learning Thermostat (3 years) and the Nest Cam (1 year) in my home so it was not a surprise to pull the trigger on the Nest Protect. Due to the fact that my current fire detectors are wired, I was unsure how to start adding the Nest Protect into the mix. For me, it was decided to replace my current fire detector near the Master Bedroom with the Nest Protect and see how well its integrates into the existing wiring. I also wanted to take advantage of features such as "auto" illuminate when walking by when the lights are off, and the function for Carbon detection closest to the bedroom. The installation was very easy and the instructions made it clear which wires to use and which ones to cap. After installing I ran through a complete Nest Protect test and wow is the alarm loud! The voice is also loud and clear enough to hear for any alerts. After installing, the Nest Protect did not break the connection chain my other alarms still had with each other. My favorite feature, besides life saving alarms and warnings, is the illumination at night. Getting up to grab a drink of water or check on something in the home enables the Nest Protect illumination function to light up my path. It senses my approach, turns on, and fades out as I leave the motion sensor area. It is a great feature outside of its real function (fire/carbon detection). Overall I would highly recommend the Nest Protect and plan to replace my remaining fire alarm devices with this device.

I am sold on these. We had one at our old house and had to get them in or new house. These are easy to set up and manage through the Nest app. They are not to sensitive which helps to eliminate false alarms, and when an alarm goes off the notification is sent. One of the great additional features is the lighted ring that illuminates when you walk past. We have these set up in hallways and it's nice to have a little light at night when hall lights are off. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to looking for a smoke/Carbon Monoxide detector in a smart home setting.

Just finished installing two Nest smoke/Co2 alarms in our home. Before opening the box I felt a little concerned that I might need a pro. Not the case. Very simple straight forward install. Each one took about 10 minutes. It will ask for a test to be sure all is working correctly. Impressed with the night light, and the loud alarm. Once one alarm senses smoke or Co2 all alarms will sound. Great feature for larger homes. False alarms can be quickly turned off with the app.

My family already had one in our main level and wanted to add two more so each level is protected. They installed easily and connected quickly to the Nest app. This product does a great job at keeping us protected. I highly recommend these over your traditional fire alarms.

A little pricey but easy to installed. Installed 2 in about 20 mins wired in. I especially enjoyed the night light feature.

Met my expectations. Easy installation, not obtrusive when she speaks. I like the night light. I also like that we have now are smart system because we travel a lot and it’s important to monitor the house.

First let me start by saying I highly recommend this product. Long story short I had a fire in my home. The nest worked and alerted me while I was away from home. I called the fire department when I noticed the temperature on my nest thermostat rising. We lost everything inside mostly due to smoke and water damage. The fire chief said had we called any later the whole house would have been gone. I will be buying these again. Tldr buy one you won't regret it, and do not ignore the alerts.

Looks classy, works like a Trojan, has a nightlight function when you pass by in dark hall. Have three and feel safe and sleep well!

Dec 2019 , Was One Hell of an Experienced My Family and I had to Endure , at 1:47AM All Three of these Devices Started Going Of , Stating ' Carbon Monoxide ' Detected in the Kitchen , Got Up Rushed to Get Everyone Up and Out of the House , Until Firemen came to investigate , and Discovered One of the Stove Knob was left just a Little Bit before the OFF Position , If it were NOT for these Devices , My Family and Wouldn't Have been Here to Write this Survey . Therefore , I Would Recommend these Devices to Every Household in America or To Anyone Who Wants to Take a Great Life Lesson .

It’s very loud when running the test, and it’s a nice feature that the alarm has a human voice, too. I like that it glows when you come near it when it gets dark (almost complete darkness, will not light up if it’s still not too dark). Happy to add this to my Nest collection

If you have any other Google integrated products, this is a must. Not only is it a factor of safety & security but it looks like. The operation is fantastic. In my home of six of these. If one goes off in any room. The other ones will tell me which one is going off & why. The Google/Nest app is great as well.

Wokring well in my google smart home , integrates with other similar devises and has a nice night lite that turns on at night when someone is wolking near the device

Working well so far and very easy to install. I had two units operating within an hour. The most time consuming part of the install was finding the right breaker to turn off the old fire detector

Aesthetically nice, easy to use, and makes your home, safer and more connected! They easily integrate with my nest thermostat, Philips Hue lighting, Wink, hub, etc. as well.
