I was in the market for a Chromebook with decent specs (at minimum 8GB memory, 128GB storage), 13-14" screen size, and decent screen graphics and as perks (not deal breakers if unavailable) a back-lit keyboard and silver/black in color. I came across this gem and couldn't be happier! Before I dive into what I like, there is a review here about it "crashing right out of the box".. that is NOT the case, it has to UPDATE. Don't let that fool you! Now.. on to the good stuff. I paid $381 as an open-box, excellent close to home and it's definitely been a good buy. It is snappy, sleek looking, and uniform in color (which appeases my OCD as I hate the colorful Google/Chromebook emblem on a solid colored device). I love the keys when stroked as they are quiet and absolutely love that it has a back-lit keyboard for late night homework while my little one is going down for bed. The 14" size is perfect and I didn't realize how much I appreciated the privacy switch for the camera. The camera at 1080p is great for video calls which I don't partake in often but like that it's at that level for whenever I need to. The battery on this device is so good, too. I was watching a show on Paramount+ while in split screen doing notes, with the brightness on high and the back-lit keyboard on for about 1 hour and the battery decreased about 20% with it being originally at about 80% charged. That's a win for me. The only thing I wish this (and all Chromebook devices) would come with is a slimmer charging adapter. I am out and about often and don't care for added bulk to carry. Yes, I can buy at 45w flat adapter but if it came in the box then it'd be literally perfect. Overall, this is a great purchase!

i love the computer, it’s very practical for school if you aren’t using very hard files and don’t need to download lots of documents. it’s very slick and simple. At first i was a bit skeptical because i ordered it without seeing it in store but i ended up loving and i think you would too. the computer is touchscreen and has camera privacy.

I just got this HP Chromebook Plus, and I’m honestly impressed. Setup was quick and easy, performance is smooth, and it does everything I need it to do — and more. It’s fast, lightweight, and perfect for everyday tasks like work, browsing, documents, and streaming. The screen looks great, the keyboard is comfortable, and battery life has been solid so far. If you’re looking for a reliable Chromebook that just works without headaches, this is a great choice. I have nothing negative to say — very happy with this purchase.

Does what I need it to do, and all at a great price

I just love my chromebook. Its exaxtly what i would have hoped it would have been. The backlight on the keyboard is great you can adjust the lighting in the settings. It makes for a very nice laptop.

I purchased a HP intel core 13 laptop open box and find that it makes no difference as to operating this purchase from if I paid for a new one, big difference in price also.

The HP Chromebook X360 is one of the better Chromebooks I've owned. Plenty RAM, decent storage space, and a FHD touchscreen. While people like big numbers and swear they have superhuman vision (I work in printing and people aren't as gifted as they think), at 14" a 1080p screen is plenty. Performance is snappy and I'd love to get Linux running so I can install a few real apps and a non-Chromium browser. But even with just running ChromeOS the X360 has plenty it can do. I've gone up to 31 tabs so far with no performance issues in Chrome and (android app) Brave. In case you didn't already know, you can install some Android apps on ChromeOS. Kinda makes you wonder why Google doesn't have a hybrid autoswitch from Chrome UI to Android UI on mobile devices based on docking or handheld. Battery life is incredible, as most have come to expect from Chromebooks. I can go a full day and still have some left over when it goes back on the charger. At 3lbs it's easy to carry in a bag and light enough to be used as a tablet. I have no problems holding it one handed, but I do have a fairly strong grip. I do wish they'd have included an SD card slot for extra storage. There are 3 USB (2 USB-C PD ports and 1 USB A) that you can connect external drives if needed, but that requires making sure you keep one on you and not inadvertently leave it behind when packing back up. An internal slot would have been a better option IMO given they have 2TB cards that have throughput equivalent to mechanical HDDs. The screen gets pretty bright, but I use my laptops 95% indoors. I keep the brightness around 20% to not burn my eyes out. As for the AI...not a fan. AI is too early in it's infancy to be of much use to me right now and Gemini's answers still need to be verified by further research because of too many false answers. Maybe a year from now it'll do more and start taking tech and programmer jobs like they said it would instead of designer and artistic jobs. It was wrong how they falsely predicted artists would be the ones untouched by AI when it started. So, hardware-wise, the X360 packs a lot of power for an OS that doesn't need much to get going. The x360 will last quite a long time as long as Google maintains updates.

I love it but im in college and i cant use chromeos

So many Chromebooks and so many are blah. HP hit a home run with this 2-in-1 14” Chromebook. First, the design. The computer is a sleek looking modern designed Chromebook. The silver color looks great and it is well made. You can tell it is a quality Chromebook that should last a long time. The Intel Core i3 gives plenty of power to run this machine. Apps and programs opened quickly and ran smoothly. I never noticed any real lag time at all. The included 8GB of memory is great to have in a Chromebook. It keeps switching back and forth through programs snappy and efficient. Even opening many Apps at once never slowed the machine down. The 256GB UFS is more than sufficient for almost any user. Plenty of storage for now and in the long term. Now for the screen. That’s a super important feature on any Chromebook or laptop. Overall this screen looks very good. Colors are vibrant and accurate. Text is easy to read and images are clear and seem to be accurately represented in terms of color and contrast. I found the touchscreen to be accurate and easy to use. The Google AI feature is fun and can be very useful. With so many things being AI these days, HP built it right in. It is helpful in many situations. The Chromebook is lightweight and sleek and fits in almost any bag or carrying case. Battery life is excellent and will get you through the entire day. Speakers are adequate for videos and basic sounds and music. There are enough ports to plug in needed accessories. Overall this is the best Chromebook 2-in-1 unit I have ever used. This should suit most users for email, word processing, chatting, Internet use, and video streaming. The only thing I wish is that the backlit keyboard was a little brighter. That is the only slight flaw I can note. It’s a winner and a great unit. Highly recommended.

This chrome book is pretty good! Bought 2of them for my high schoolers had then for about a month, hopefully they last forever

Short Version: This HP 14-inch Chromebook is a perfect fit for students or anyone who works a lot from cloud-based resources. It offers an excellent back-lit keyboard, decent trackpad, more storage than traditional Chromebooks, easy access to both Google and Microsoft Cloud services, and EXCELLENT battery life, this is the perfect mobile computer as long as you have internet access. Detailed Version: I've had a few Chromebooks over the years and appreciate their lightweight form factor and generally decent battery life. When all you need is a computer to access web-based resources such as your email, social media, and other websites, Chromebooks offer an affordable means to this, thus their popularity in schools. Obviously they run Google Chrome as the web browser, but they have evolved to be a lot more functional. If you are mostly current with the Chromebook system (regardless of the computer), some reasons you might choose this HP 14-in 2-in-1 Chromebook include: - A nice 14-inch display. Definitely makes it easier to comfortably use the computer without hunching over the laptop to see the screen. - Nice keyboard that includes a subtle backlight - the backlight is not adjustable (either on or off), but it's actually very good, bright enough in the dark and evenly lit. The light behind the keys is not distracting when you are using it in normal lighting conditions. The keyboard does make a little noise, but its actually rather quiet overall. - 2-in-1 - includes a touch screen, and can be rotated 360 degrees to be used as a tablet, or any range in between. - 8 GB memory and a 256 GB storage SSD - lower-end Chromebooks commonly have 4 GB of memory, and with everything that can be done in the web browser today, that can really bog down your computer, so 8 GB makes it much snappier and easier to run with multiple tabs and/or apps. The 256 GB of storage means you can actually store some files on this computer and not rely strictly on the cloud. If you have never used a Chromebook or it's been awhile, here are some reasons why this might be a good option for you: - Decent integration with Microsoft Office and OneDrive - you can add OneDrive as an app on this computer, and it will appear in the navigation area of your File Manager, similar to how you see it on other computers. You can add Microsoft Office, which is really just an app that gives you access to the web version of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, but it's much easier to open your OneDrive files with this setup. - A variety of apps - there are a lot of apps available to add to your Chromebook. Many are the same as the "web" version that you may already be familiar with, but these run in separate windows from Google Chrome itself, so it feels more like computer environments you are familiar with. - Chromebooks easily sync your data and setup - after signing in, my setup from an old Chromebook was immediately available on this computer, including all of my docked apps at the bottom and my entire Chrome setup. This does require that you allow this synchronization, but it makes it about as easy as it can be to set up, migrate, or just reinstall Chrome OS if something goes wrong. Other things I like about this model: - 2 USB-C and 1 USB-A ports - Volume buttons on the side (not really necessary when using the keyboard, but handy when using it as a tablet. - Responsive track pad - Bright screen, even at 50%, meaning you can save some battery life. - Webcam includes a switch to cover it - Headphone jack - The ability to orient the track pad scrolling in either direction (I am NOT a fan of "natural" scrolling), and this option shows up during the setup! - You can update your wallpaper with AI-generated images right from the settings. - Battery life, battery life, battery life - I charged it to 100% in the morning, checked a few things, closed the laptop, and came back that evening and it was still at 100%, without shutting the computer all the way down. The standby time on it is excellent! Some things I don't like or could be better: - Speakers - the speakers are along the sides of the keyboard and are upward firing (always better than downward firing), and they get very loud, but they lack so much bass that it sounds like a tin can. - No SD or micro SD card slot - The track pad is responsive, but retracts slightly from the lightest touch. If you are used to pressing on the track pad and getting tactile feedback, picture this as getting the same but barely touching it. - When using as a laptop, the hinges could be a bit tighter. While typing this review, the laptop is sitting on my lap and leaning back a bit. More than once, I had to pull the display closer to 90-degrees or it would lean back to the point it was reflecting the light on the ceiling. As of this writing, this model of Chromebook also includes a year-long subscription to their AI service, Gemini, along with 2 TB of Google Drive storage. This is a nice bonus, but will cost after the yearlong trial is up. However, it's a great way to test out Gemini at no cost, and who can argue with that much storage space? Gemini is cloud-based, so it doesn't require the better hardware that this laptop contains, but honestly this is the level of hardware that a lot of internet applications needs, so it really improves the experience. Overall, I would recommend this Chromebook to anyone looking for a Chrome OS computer. Just remember that this is an internet-based computer and will be far less useful without access. While this will run you a bit more than lower end models, the improved hardware pays off.

Be warned, search SETTINGS and the little BLUE ROCKET Icon in the horizontal tray before drawing a hasty conclusion that the capability is not already on board! Though my needs are not-of-the high performance gaming and graphics ilk, online users indicate performance is sufficient for the price point. Nonetheless, above and beyond the ample built-ins is a blinding array of trial discounts and perks affording growth in a multitude of directions for the those gifted with time and ambition. · So, for my economic tolerance and to satisfy my word processing and document management demands, streaming, video conferencing, time management, and similar, this Hp CHROMEBOOK Plus is an upgrade packed with features from basic to extraordinary. Really happy I refrained from shelling out the dough for that MS Surface Pro, a heart throb now rivalled by a “back-to-the-future” near match. · Though not yet ready for the GEMINI Advanced Free Trial version, love that entry GEMINI AI allows GOOGLE ASSIST to respond to voice to a variety of commands and inquiries for such data points as the time, the weather, as well as more complex duties for a hands-free means to record the multitude of tasks that come to mind, to summon the music I want, to use TEXT to SPEECH to have recipes read to me without having to revisit text with goopy hands, etc · Start Up felt insecure at times because I was not sure what performance issues would emerge with denial of MS GOOGLE’s access to so much personal data. So, to expedite, I clicked ACCEPT with the intention to later craft more circumspect privacy settings, recognizing governing forces can back door anything at any time. As with other AI platforms, the digital data access Agreement required to explore GEMINI AI is especially unnerving. The trade off between convenience and privacy is a frustrating paradox. · Beyond personal transparency issues, set up was a fast and easy scroll through basic personalization parameters. · A tech glitch slowed my roll when wifi got wonky, remembering no Ethernet port on this unit, I used a USB-C cord to connect phone to Hp CHROMEBOOK. Moments later, remembered I could Tether with Blue Tooth. · Then, in SETTINGS, bumped into how to use an eSIM or SIM Profile for a stable internet connection when/if wifi gets problematic for home or travel, another reminder to see SETTINGS and/or the BLUE ROCKET for all available features. · Wow! No hassle, no jostling required: The display affords immediate touchscreen activation. · And more Wow: To "pitch the tent" into tablet, streaming view, or presentation mode, just flip the screen backwards. · Moreover, the1080p display resolution and audio for youTube, conferencing, music, and similar is quality for my standards; and the headset port affords privacy or, if preferred, use BLUETOOTH. · The phone to laptop connection is now more fluid and stable than an earlier MS version, too glitchy to endure. So, responding to text messages from my keyboard really promotes minimal interruption to workflow. · A big deal for me is not only having a long charging cord but the convenience of charging/data transfer ports on both sides of the unit, a “highest logic” CHROMEBOOK standard but not for competitors I have used. So, no more strained ports and awkward cord-to-outlet connections. · And ‘Thank the Lord’, CHROMEBOOKS weird CAPS LOCK hassle was vetoed by Hp’s Logic! · Can now extend battery life by enabling Adaptive Charging. · BTW, owners get support updates for TEN years better than previous limits. THE ‘NOT SO MUCH’ · I would prefer a shutter on my web cam but learned in SETTINGS I can shut down camera access for Apps In Use but more hassle than a simple slider. · Unhappy that while in an Outlook calendar, I was unable to slide items between days. Instead, I would have to open to change the date/time. Maybe there’s a revision in SETTINGS or will get HELP. · Prefer the Hp Logic re Cut/Paste, etc. Options are accessed via a drop-down menu but I was still unable to apply the action when required. Again, maybe there’s a revision to be discovered in SETTINGS or will summon HELP. · Since habituated by the MS platform, I personally favor the one finger scroll over the CHROMEBOOK two finger spec but nice that the UI allows reversal of the scrolling direction but can be set in the direction I like, among other options. · Though I prefer backlit keyboards, I suppose only so many features can be smushed into such a tiny footprint. ***************************************************************** Overall, the Hp CHROMEBOOK Plus collab has made commendable progress in establishing next-level synchrony of a long list of tools to process the challenges of a modern day’s journey: from self-care to deadlines into (hopefully) moments of education and entertainment. Peace of mind emerges when apps have this unit’s stable platform from which to deliver the goods: calendar, media, photos, videos, phone calls, texts, and all that comes with black box AI. Study all available options carefully since features are tied to price point.

I like this computer so far. The only issue is that I bought it big and thought the size of 14 was small lol but anyways, I’m in love!

Great Chromebook and bought it On-Sale !!!! Much better than I imagined.....

I was first introduced to Chrome OS and the original Chromebook several years in it's infancy. Google was on to something when they first created the orginal Chromebook. Fast forward to today, you find most schools are using Chromebooks for their students to utilize. Chromebooks and Chrome OS has been really good at fast boot times and virus protection, so I figured Google would find ways to improve the OS even further. Since I've had several Chromebooks from different manufacturers, I was expecting a similar experience with HP's Chromebook Plus x360. All I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised with my experience with the Chromebook Plus hardware. With upgraded specs all around, here are the features I find the most appealing: 8GB DDR5 ram 256 GB UFS intel i3-N305 Touchscreen with Multi-touch 10 year Chrome OS support HP Fast Charge WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 Unboxing the HP Chromebook x360 When first opening the Chromebook, I noticed the design. There is more of a premium feel and look. There are dual up-firing speakers where the sound can be increased pretty loud without distortion. The Chromebook is 3 pounds with a 14 inch full HD touchscreen. The screen gets really bright and the touchscreen is really responsive with minimal lag. The keyboard feels great to type on and also comes with back-lit lighting. Chromebook Plus features My experience using the HP Chromebook Plus x360 has been fairly positive. I love the fact that the Chromebook has enough horsepower to perform all the tasks that I throw at it. It's like having a android tablet and Chromebook all in one. I've downloaded multiple streaming apps to watch my favorite shows, and downloaded a few of my favorite cloud based gaming apps. I haven't used any of the AI features just yet, as I've been going through all the features of Chrome OS. Using the Chromebook for several days has allowed me to get things accomplished. I really like having both USB-C ports having the ability to charge. You don't even find this ability in most high end laptops. Only potential issues I can foresee is the hinges holding up over time when continually changing the position of the screen. I really like HP's Chromebook Plus x360. With all the added benefits, its like having the best of both words. Android apps, Chrome Web apps, and a full Chrome web browser all in one device. That's a win in my book.

TLDR: This Chromebook is a Plus series model. That defines computers that use the Chrome OS Operating System but have higher specifications as defined by Google. A Chromebook Plus must have at least a 12th-gen Intel i3 or 7000-series Ryzen 3 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a minimum of 128 GB of storage, an LED illuminated full HD 1920 X 1080 IPS screen, and a full HD webcam with noise reduction. Some Plus models also have touchscreens, illuminated keyboards, 256GB of SSD storage volume, and USB-C ports that contain both High Speed and Display Port protocols for video output to large monitors. In addition, many Plus models also are “2 in 1” in that their display screens will rotate completely backward to form a large tablet configuration should it be desired to be used in that format. This HP model Chromebook has all of the above higher specs, especially the 256GB of internal SSD storage. It has standard Google AI Artificial Intelligence features. I am submitting this review written on the HP Chromebook! This model uses a Intel Core i3 N-305 CPU processor and a 14” 1920 x 1080 (Full HD High Definition) IPS touchscreen display. The CPU is an 8 core die and runs at 3.8 Ghz speed with 6 Megabytes of Level 3 cache. The RAM is 8GB and is LPDDR5. Being a 14” model, it does not have a dedicated number pad but the keyboard is illuminated. (The number pad is usually found on 15” and larger computers due to the wider chassis dimension.) The weight is approximately 3 pounds and the stated dimensions are 12¾ inches left to right, 8¼ inches front to back and about 9/10 inch high when closed. Battery life is touted at 10 hours and 15 minutes. It is supplied with 2 USB-C ports, 1 USB-A port, volume controls, a headphone/microphone jack and a 45 watt AC power adapter/charger. There is no protective sleeve/carry case supplied as some other brands pack in the box. There also is no built-in microsSD slot for utility. The WiFi is 6E protocol for fast speeds. Bluetooth is 5.3. I tried and used my USB-C multi-port docking station and the USB-C ports wonderfully put out video allowing me to use 2 large 24” monitors and also charge the Chromebook when I plugged the included HP AC adapter into the PD Power Delivery port of the docking station. Google AI is built in and it is called Gemini. There is a blue diamond Gemini icon on the Chromebook shelf to activate Gemini and use it verbally or by typing in a command to enable services such as summarizing articles, searching anything, collect data from internet searches, generate images based on descriptions spoken or typed on the screen, and many other functions that are yet to be created. With Gemini, a “Magic Editor” is available in Google Photos to change, edit, or manipulate photos. This is started by circling a photo section and performing changes, movements, deletions or copying to that section. Gemini is also a writing machine in that the user may type in a writing task and Gemini searches, summarizes and writes what is requested. Gemini is also a chat engine in that it will reply to questions and rebuttals to what it produces. It is able to summarize web pages quickly. Gemini Live Translate, enables Google AI translated captions for audio and video. All Chromebooks power up fast, are virus protected because everything goes through Google servers where viruses and hacks are screened out, and run cool and last long on a battery charge. All also have free access to Google Docs word processing, Google Sheets for spreadsheets, Google Photos to store and edit images, a free Google Voice telephone number for making calls from Android and Chromebooks, YouTube, and other applications available free of charge. All documents created save automatically into your Google Drive offline “cloud” storage and are accessible from any computer once signed into a user's Gmail account. Google provides 15 GB of free storage room for all apps combined per Gmail account. (Create more Gmail accounts to get more storage for free). Chromebooks also have the ability to use Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel and others with Chrome OS versions. I have become adept at using Google free Docs, Sheets, Voice, Drive and of course YouTube on all my computers be they Chrome OS or Windows. Sign in with a Gmail account and all the files are there. Start creating on one computer, pick up on another to add or edit, sign in to another to print or continue working on documents. It is very versatile. Thanks Google ! Anyone who has a Microsoft OneDrive for file storage can easily use the Chromebook Settings menu, go to the Files section and integrate MicroSoft OneDrive files into a Chromebook by signing into the Microsoft account. In that manner, both Microsoft OneDrive files and Google drive files will appear for storage and use when needed on the Chromebook. I experienced long battery life, fast WiFi response using my WiFi 6 router in my home, decent sound via BlueTooth to some JVC, Sony, and Philips headphones and quite respectable sound using the built-in speakers which fire up on both sides of the keyboard. The touchscreen is bright and a joy to use. I had no issues with fingerprints since I keep my hands clean. The video camera is full 1080p High Definition and produced good images when I tested it with another user using Google Meet. I had no Zoom sessions yet but expect similar good results from others when I ask how I look. It runs cool and has some cooling holes on the bottom side so be careful and don't place it onto sheets, blankets or a sofa while using it since that sort of fabric surface will block the upward flow of cooling air into the bottom which is exited from the back edge below the display screen in back. Dust is the nemesis of good performance on any computer.

The computer says it’s updating, do bot power off your device . It may take 1-2 minutes but it been an hour same thing on the screen. I think i got the bad one. Returning it tomorrow.

Chromebook Plus laptops, unlike the Chromebooks of the past, are required by Google a to meet certain specs to guarantee that your Chromebook is fast, has a long-lasting battery, and can bring you some of Google Gemini’s latest AI features. They promise a lot, and I have to say this HP 2-in-1 Chromebook Plus delivers on those promises in EVERY way. Setting up the Chromebook is one of the easiest laptop setup experiences I’ve ever had. You can sign in with your google credentials, or if you’re an android user, you can use your phone to sign in. The 2nd of those options will also invite you to enable other cross device (phone to laptop) features such as messaging and photo sharing. It’s pretty dang competitive with Apple’s ecosystem in terms of cross device features. So if you’re an Android user, you’re going to get some extra value out of this device. As for the display: the screen is vibrant and clear, the pre-loaded wallpapers look absolutely beautiful, and the touchscreen functionality comes in handy a lot. I’m also a big fan of 2-in-1 laptops because of their versatility. When you fold this laptop back past 180*, the Chromebook switches to tablet mode and acts nearly as an Android tablet would. In fact, most games from the Play Store are available on this computer. I found myself one evening with my girlfriend on the couch with the computer in tablet mode, screen mirroring the laptop to her TCL smart Google TV, and were playing a Trivia game. It was a lot of fun. But that’s the kind of thing you can do with a 2-in-1. I also love using it in tent mode, using an external keyboard and mouse, and using this thing like an actual workstation. The versatility is fantastic. In terms of performance, most tasks on this thing are web-based like Google Sheets, Docs, Photos, etc. so the Intel Core i3 chip in this is just a beast. And even the on-device AI features are quick. I never ran into a hiccup on this machine. Even in tablet mode, this thing handled everything I threw at it. The battery life is also spectacular, with consistent 7-10 hours of screen on time. Even in standby mode, I saw little battery drain. A few other features worth mentioning: - There is a built-in webcam cover you can slide to hide or unhide the camera. - The left side of the unit has a power button and volume rocker which come in handy when using this machine in tablet mode. - There isn’t a power button (that I saw) on the keyboard of the laptop, so you’ll use the one on the left side to power on the laptop. The only criticism I have is that the case this Chromebook is housed in is a little chunkier than similar laptops in this class and price range. It’s not too unwieldy, but it is one of the thicker laptops I’ve used in a few years. If you’re looking for a solid performing Chromebook, this thing is definitely a contender that I highly recommend.
