My desktop was very old and I desperately needed a new one. I used the "compare" tool on bestbuy.com to compare this HP Envy Desktop to others, including another Envy Desktop with less GB. I bit the bullet and invested in this more expensive one as I have a lot of videos and need the space. I like the smaller size of this desktop, and the speed cannot be beat (especially compared to the speed of an older computer that was lagging). What I am experiencing now, when the system is dormant overnight, is lag time in the system waking up when I move the mouse or touch the space bar to activate it. Previously, it was immediate. I don't know if it has anything to do with my system set-up or if this delay is a reflection of wear and tear, which would be disappointing to experience so soon after having it.

The computer itself has been excellent. It comes closest to being an affordable replacement for the self-assembled desktop I've been using for the last 10 years. But the user information which came with the computer is simply inadequate, and not well backed up with model-specific online help either. The instructions for adding SSDs or HDs are useful only in combination with trial and error disassembly. That's too bad, because the computer is cleverly designed for simple modification once you get beyond the text-free ambiguous diagrams. (They probably work fine for an engineer already familiar with the product.) Further, HP online resources defy a match with a particular model out of the many similar ones HP has marketed. For example, one of my challenges has been with port interpretation. Ports are identified with arcane symbols hardly visible anywhere but on a brightly lighted location at eye level. A simple diagram of port locations would make things easy, but none came with the computer and the only ones I could find online were for other models. That small deficiency is even more irritating when you are making connections on the back by feel. These problems are small potatoes compared with the excellent performance so far of the machine, and I'd take off only half a star if I could.

Replaced my 15 year old desktop with this HP model. Couldn't be happier with the speed and performance of this PC. The Geek Squad transferred the data from my old hard drive to this one in store. I would recommend this HP hands down.

Customers are impressed with the Envy Desktop's performance, ease of use, and powerful graphics card, frequently citing its ability to handle demanding tasks and smooth multitasking. Many also appreciate the ample RAM and storage, along with the relatively easy setup process and compact size. While some users noted minor issues with the power button and included mouse, the overall experience has been largely positive.
