Just moved to a new place and cable wasn’t installed yet. So we bought a DVD player and watch some great movies till the internet came.

My wife needed a dvd player to use in a room she exercises in and I targeted this one because of the price. Honestly, it works great so far. For those workout dvd's, the picture is acceptable and it's super easy to use (I also have a ps3 on that tv which was a little cumbersome for her to use, especially the controls). If you just need a basic dvd player with no frills, then this should suffice.

I bought this DVD player as one I could move around to different TV’s and even bring outside when the weather is nice. This DVD player is small, lightweight, and works great. I’ve used with with both older and newer DVD’s and have no issues. It does not have any HDMI cable plug, so if you need that, you’ll have to look elsewhere. It works just great with the older standard 3 plugs.

I am extremely pleased with this DVD player. It was simple to connect to the TV, I had never done it before, and works like a charm. I wanted something simple and basic to play cds and dvds. I have played both and am very happy with the exceptional quality. I also dropped it once and it bounced well. No dings or cracks although I would not suggest doing this on purpose. I highly recommend.

Cons: 1. No display panel on the player - which is why I gave it only 3 stars. Very disconcerting trying to operate a DVD player with no display panel, especially when playing a CD: you have no idea what track you're on or how much time has elapsed. 2. No HDMI output - though this isn't all that necessary for a basic and simple DVD player I suppose. 3 Only 3 control buttons on the player itself. 4. Lightweight - when you're trying to use any of the 3 control buttons on the player, you have to hold the player with one hand and push the button with the other, otherwise the player slides on away from you. PROS: 1. Really good, sharp, clear video and excellent audio on DVD's. 2. Excellent audio on CD's. CD audio is robust and "upfront" - quite detailed. 3. Component video outputs (though I haven't tried these yet - I'm simply using the composite video out). 4. Sleek and stylish design - player looks rather classy. Some inexpensive DVD players look rather cheap and junky - so do some expensive ones, too, for that matter. The 4 Pro's are surprising on a $30 player. BestBuy has put out a fairly good player with this Insignia model. I wish BestBuy would put out a new edition with more control buttons on the player, a display panel that gives track number and elapsed time and is a little bit less lightweight.

I've only had the player for 2 months but it is simple to use and works very well. Very basic and was inexpensive. I would have given it 5 stars but the remote is a little small to use for my Flintstone like fingers and the buttons are not well designed. Otherwise, it works great.

This compact DVD player is ideal for those exercise videos that you have dusted off to start 2018 or whatever DVDs you might decide to play for entertainment. It is easy to set up, operate, and at the low purchase price is a real deal.

Cannot beat this DVD player for the money. I have not had a single issue with it. It is simple to use and appears durable. I purchased it for a rental unit and wanted one that could stand up to abuse.

My old dvd/vcr player finally died of old age! I was running an errand for the mrs at the Mall and entered the Best Buy entrance. After that was done I stopped at the TV section of Best Buy and asked if they had a reasonable DVD player. Wow, the Insignia DVD player was the perfect player at a perfect price. East to use and doesn't need a lot of space. Misplaced the instruction pamphlet but was able to download one from Insignia's Web Page. Thanks Best Buy.

This is a great little DVD player. It was just what I needed. I have an older TV and there are not a lot of connections to plug a variety of things. This DVD player was basic. Very easy to install and it doesn't come with all these different hookups like the new ones with Wi-Fi, Netflix, Hulu, etc. I don't need all that. I just needed a DVD player that plays DVDs. Not to mention the price...good price.

If you want to watch DVDs, it does it for the price. However, the quality isn't that great. I get lines on my TV when watching DVDs. It's a great price and I like that it is simple with not many buttons, comes with a remote, and doesn't take up much space.

Bought as a great Deal of the Day purchase, primarily intended to use on an older CRT TV still set up in a bedroom. This player does a pretty good job of feeding the composite inputs on this TV, with the sound being fed into the L-R inputs for the TV speakers. Used in this capacity, it is entirely satisfactory in performance. The TV is not Hi-Def, so the DVD resolution still wrings out the maximum sharpness this TV can deliver. As this is a bargain DVD player by design, I really cannot complain about it's performance or build quality, it seems pretty good in that regard. Pros: Inexpensive, seems to play DVDs on hand pretty well on the non-HD set it is hooked up to. Simple to use. Small and thin enclosure. Cons: Does not have a integrated visible display, messages (like play, rewind, fast forward, option menus) appear and are selected from the TV screen, the remote feels "light", has small buttons, and no lighting at all so is hard to see in low light, outputs are lacking for modern day digital TV's (i.e. no HDMI). The is a component (R-G-B) output if you have a set which accepts it, and a coaxial audio output to hook into an AV receiver, but not as convenient as an HDMI single cord. The small remote buttons and the lack of HDMI or video outputs are the reason one star is deducted (4 out of 5). I would probably buy this again for it's intended purpose, but I don't know if I would recommend it as a DVD player of choice to a friend. There are better technologies now, like Blu-Ray and 4K players, that are probably more appropriate for a recommendation, especially as everything is Hi-Def now, and this player is not.

This DVD player was the cheapest I could find so that makes it perfect for a college kid budget. I have seen this drop off of a shelf a few times and still work perfectly right after like nothing happened. This is like the OG DVD player that is cheap and still working despite some falls.
