About this product
IZVORA invites you to a sparkling, poetic and refined universe, surrounded by original compositions and arrangements and a sound that is sometimes intimate, and sometimes displays the virtuosity of the artists. Although we're used to accordion player Christophe Delporte magnifying the music by Astor Piazzolla, it's another, more secret fantasy, that he shares with the ex-pianist of the InchFramboise FrivoleInch. A fantasy that is sprinkled with passionate inspiration, flirting with classical, jazz, and world music. Yves Gourmeur (piano) is, above all, an eclectic piano player, but also a composer with great melodic power, and a talent for combining several musical genres. Rhonny Ventat (sax), the wind turbine of the group, seduces you with bewitching, sensual melodies, but also with improvisations that are sometimes dazzling, sometimes soothing. Together with the flawless precision of percussion player Jérome Baudart and the exceptional, smooth and caressing bass lines by Adrien Tyberghein (double bass), IZVORA takes you on a musical and sensual trip. Flamboyant, between festive delusions, tenacious rhythms and lyrical melodies; daring to improvise, this quintet with multiple influences covers our souls with weightlessness, a soft, sweet and salty kiss. Album Tracks 1. The Fountain of Youth 2. Izvora 3. Trouble Water 4. Sur L'autre Rive 5. Sagua la Chica 6. The Morning Dew 7. Au Fil de L'eau 8. Kalahari 9. From Water to Life

Having recorded the 'great' French quartets of Debussy and Ravel (ALPHA295), the Van Kuijk Quartet now takes another path and explores treasures by Faure, Debussy, Satie, Ravel and Poulenc that were originally composed for piano or voice. The mark of the string quartet is secretly apparent in this programme, which includes Debussy's Petite Suite pour piano à quatre mains, Ravel's famous Pavane pour une infante defunte and well-known songs by Poulenc, Faure and Satie in transcriptions made especially for this recording by Emmanuel Francois, the Quartet's violist, and by Jean-Christophe Masson and Gildas Guillon. The Quartet also asked the jazz pianist and composer Baptiste Trotignon to create a work that would freely resonate alongside the styles of the composers whose works had been transcribed. An entire universe has now been re-created without any nostalgia or pastiche behind the first names of these composers, Ces Messieurs. The Van Kuijks have woven their instruments in and around these miniatures and here unfold a programme that is all lightness and delight. Album Tracks 1. C., FP 122/1 2. Fêtes Galantes, FP 122/2 3.
