About this product

I had forgotten, somehow, that moonlight is the reflection of sunlight. The moon is so iconic, it had become it's own celebrity to me. Sometimes individualization is like that. We are praised to become our own identity-singular shining orbs. This record is a reminder to cherish openly that which reflects off and onto me. A reminder that stone orbs only become meaningful moons when they experience the gravity and light of others. - Jennifer CastleIn autumn 2009, for the first time, monarch butterflies, known for their extensive annual North American migrations, emerged from their cocoons in outer space, onboard the International Space Station, part of a NASA experiment on the effects of microgravity on Lepidoptera. They dried their wings to fly nearer to the moon than their species had ever done before.Ten years later, in autumn 2019, Jennifer Castle sat at home in her quiet coastal kitchen in Ontario, windows open to the insects and the wind and the reflection of the moon on Lake Erie-her host of muses-and recorded nine moon-suffused songs. It was monarch season again on Earth, and Jennifer was inspired to Inchsee the wings in everything.Inch Now, a year later, we have Monarch Season, an album as delicate and diaphanous as it's namesake creature. Although created half a year pre-pandemic, Castle deliberately pursued a minimalist, homebound, and solitary process that represented, for her musical practice, a radical reduction of scale, coupled with a telescopic expansion of scope. Jennifer Castle - Castlemusic - VINYL LP

In Toronto, Jennifer Castle possesses a sought after voice, singing on albums by Fucked Up, the Constantines and Doug Paisley. Castlemusic is her debut under her own name (she previously performed as Castlemusic). It's full of rambles, waltzes and ballads. It wanders with equal parts feedback and quiet, through dark melodies, wistful, and straight out of a hazed dream or some offbeat 70's AM station. The songs have that type of familiarity, as if they were always there. Castle is backed by an assortment of musicians pedal steel, percussion, vibraphone. Album Tracks 1. Summer 2. Neverride 3. Powers 4. Way of the Crow 5. You Don't Have to Be 6. Misguided 7. Remembering 8. Poor As Him 9. The Friend

Hans Theessink - Hard Road Blues - VINYL LP

I recorded HARD ROAD BLUES in 2 nights (October 6th-7th, 1994) in the OPUS Recorder Music Studio in Austria in one go and all analog. It was quite a meditative affair, recorded very well by sound engineer Andreas Fabianek. We used a vocal mic, a guitar mic, and a few other mics to capture the natural sound of the room. The recording sounds very organic; you can feel every movement and breathing and you can literally hear the fingers dancing on the fretboard. The record was first released in 1994 on vinyl, CD and cassette. HARD ROAD BLUES has been highly acclaimed by fans and press alike and has sold very well. If a copy of this pressing ever turns up in good condition, it would cost quite a bit of money. Unfortunately, the fire devil struck at the German pressing plant - many masters and matrices were destroyed; including those of HARD ROAD BLUES. A subsequent pressing was therefore impossible. But during Corona 2020 I had a lot of time to look through my stock of recordings and I also found the HARD ROAD BLUES master tapes. That's when the idea came up to re- this record.I contacted Christoph Stickl from CSMastering. Christoph had already done an excellent remastering of my 1987 InchBaby Wants To BoogieInch LP and he was therefore predestined to carry out this rather delicate work for HARD ROAD BLUES as well. He reviewed the tapes, which after all, were already 27 years old, and said he'd have to InchbakeInch them in the oven to play them and start remastering. Luckily the tapes were still in good shape and so Christoph was able to do the remastering without interrupting the AAA chain. Album Tracks 1. Big Bill's Guitar Hans Theessink Manus (Akm) 2. You Make Me Feel So Good Hans Theessink Manus (Akm) 3. Prison Blues Trad/Arr. And New Words Hans Theessink 4. Blind Willie Hans Theessink Manus (Akm) 5. One Kind Favour Blind Lemon Jefferson / Arr.
