We went along with the remodel plans of an architect and found ourselves with a 48" built-in refrigerator. If I'd known how time-consuming it can be getting a replacement (something we've gone through three times now), I might have chosen something more readily available. But a built-in is so nice. There is so much space, and it's nice having an appliance that doesn't encroach on the kitchen. We're spoiled now and forever are going to want a built-in. This is our second KitchenAid. The first lasted over a dozen years, during which time the most severe breakdown was the compressor (which was replaced under warranty). Various other components started to fail (fan motors, thermistors, air baffles), but these were all easy to diagnose and easy to replace. Then control boards failed and refrigerant escaped through a slow leak the technician could not find, and it seemed it was time to spend another $10k. The new KitchenAid has dozens of incremental improvements over the model we had previously (LED lights, easily accessible filter, subtly redesigned shelves, etc). All make the appliance much easier to live with. We have yet to use the under-shelf prep zone, though it does make a useful additional storage space. After a month of use, we are very pleased with our choice. The only negative was the three-month delivery time. Our simple solution was to rent a traditional refrigerator until the new one came.

I love it. No more Samsung appliances for me. The last refrigerator lasted 8 years and has been discontinued. From the start the Samsung 48 inch fridge was defective.

Love the look and performance of this side by side refrigerator. Food stays fresh and it holds a large amount of groceries. The ice maker has a huge drawer and provide a large quantity of ice for drinks and coolers.

Our unit (ordered November 2022, delivered May 2023) has needed defroster replaced twice. Kitchen-aid no longer has defrosters available (Certified technician states its a common problem) So now we have to manually defrost unit once a week for it to function properly. Total nightmare. Totaltech will not help you instead will refer you to Kitchenaid.

I do not recommend this product. We've had to replace one unit 3 weeks after purchasing it. The second unit has 2 other issues with the cooling system and condenser. KitchenAid warranty services are not helpful or unable to find the resolution to our current fridge malfunction issues.

Beautiful, love the design and soft closing doors. Quiet too.

It's a great refrigerator. The last one lasted us 20 years. I hope this one holds up as well.

I purchased this refrigerator 8 years ago and stop working a few days ago. I was told by a technician that the sealing system is leaking, and a major repair is required. About $4K with only 1 year of warranty. I am very disappointed. Refrigerator amortization is very bad: $11K price of unit, divided by 8 years of service is $1.3K/year or $114/per month. I was told by the technician to put a few more dollars and replace it with the nicer Z brand rather than try to fix it.
