Starts of strong. Ends a tad generic but still thrilling in all the right ways. (Photo: me enjoying Edgar Wright’s latest feature length)

Fun, but could have been tighter. The female co-leads were both great, as usual.

Last Night in Soho may not be Wright's best (The Cornetto Trilogy, Hot Fuzz in particular, still hold that honor). Nevertheless, it is a curious work in his filmography. It is his most mature one to date, where he explores the pitfalls of romanticizing "the good old days." His creative storytelling is still here (even if his movies' signature editing/cutting style is largely gone). There are wonderous camera tricks throughout the film. The acting is stellar, and it is a joy to see Diana Rigg on the screen in her last role. The soundtrack is glorious (as the characters remark, "the music was better" in the '60s, of which Wright takes full advantage). The dialogue is not as cleverly-written as it is in Wright's collaborations with Simon Pegg, and exposition is sometimes handled with little to no discretion. Nevertheless, the film is still recommended, and certainly a no-brainer for any Wright fan. The Bluray edition features a decent amount of extras, per the director's standard, which are a joy to explore.

This movie is great! Beautifully shot, and the story kept me interested. As a seasoned horror movie fan, I can usually spot the twist(s) coming, and I did catch one, but not all of them, and the reveals were amazing!

I am a big fan of director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End), so I was really excited to see his new film. Although, I wasn't blown over by the trailer when I first saw it a couple of years ago (the film had numerous delays due to COVID lockdowns), I figured I give it a shot anyway. I must say I was plesantly surprised. It reminded me of a Hitchcock film (with a little Dario Argento in the mix). I really wasn't prepared for the ending (I was completely floored)! Slow at times, but stick with it and it might surprise you. The blu-ray/DVD special features are really interesting too. Great soundtrack too that boomers (like myself) will really enjoy!

Love this movie! It's great. :) It starts so sweet and sentimental, and then it takes a turn. Very visually interesting and the camera angels and effects are fabulous.

The Blu-ray is stunning, both audio and video! Colors are deep and vibrant. Surround sound is crisp, clear and used to good dramatic effect. Bass is strong. The soundtrack uses many well known 60’s British Invasion band but they’re playing for the most part fairly obscure tunes. All very enjoyable. In fact after seeing the movie I tracked down the soundtrack on vinyl. Fantastic film! Highly recommended!

This movie actually surprised me in so many different ways. It starts out very happy, then turns into a sort of horror back to the future, and grows very dark and a bit scary. Pick this one up and give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

If you like your horror films served up with more than just gore and cheap scares--maybe even told with style and ingenuity--then "Last Night in Soho" should be must viewing. This story of a young fashion designer (Thomasin McKenzie) so obsessed with "Swinging London" of the 60's that she literally trips into the go-go boots of Anya Taylor-Joy is directed with verve and painstaking attention to detail by Edgar Wright, the man behind such fizzy film mashups as "Baby Driver," "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," and "Shaun of the Dead." He does for slasher films here what he did for zombie flicks--tweak the genre into an exhilarating rush of sights and sounds.
