About this product

2020 . Bassist Martin Gordon is old enough to know better. His long career stretches back to the Radio Stars and Sparks, both of whom were around in the 1970s. Later he became an unwitting cohort of a variety of loved (and also scorned) British pop musicians, including the Rolling Stones, Blur, Primal Scream, Boy George, George Michael and others. Since then, he has not looked back, although he will not say why. You won't believe what happened next! In January 2020, this Berlin-based (and now German) musician releases his ninth solo album in a series which began in 2003. OMG! Is a collection of comments on our curious times, disguised as pop music and featuring contributions from his regular band with guests on viola and bass clarinet.

Stillborn - Nocturnals - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. 2017 . In 1989 the Swedish band Stillborn released an album called Necrospirituals. Today it's seen as a cult classic and probably the first gothic metal album ever made. In fact, the term gothic metal was not even invented at that time. However, it's far from what today could be labeled as gothic metal. The one who managed to best describe the band is probably the signature Zodijackyl at the Metal archives InchStillborn meld the gloomy horror film origins of doom metal with the morbid aesthetics of gothic rock and create something special..Inch Although the band is relatively unknown to the vast majority, it has influenced important artists such as Paradise Lost, Entombed and Cathedral. During 2016 and 2017, the band's original members got together and recorded 10 new songs (47 min) in the spirit of their debut Necrospirituals. The songs were recorded and mixed at studio Juicy Halftone in Copenhagen by Henrik Stendahl. The band are also planning to do a reunion tour in the autumn of 2017. On their new album Nocturnals, the band has refined their sound and style even more but old fans will still recognize the original essence of Stillborn. The lyrics are still sinister and eerie with a subtle twist. The music is loud, sturdy, dark and heavy as a monolithic stone. Since the band announced that they will play again and giving hints that they will a new record, they have received a very positive response. Many fans have contacted them to tell how excited they are. Album Tracks 1. 1917 2. Dresden 3. Oblivion Reloaded 4. The Animal Within 5. They Forgive Nothing 6. Lorelei 7. Maaemo 8. Fata Morgana 9. Anathema 10. The Walking Dead

Martin Gordon - Greatest Sh!ts - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2023 . The world is increasingly run by Sh!ts. Now, on his album 'Greatest Sh!ts', former Sparks/Jet/Radio Stars bassist/composer Martin Gordon singles out a carefully-curated selection of the current Toppermost of the Sh!t Poppermost for musical scrutiny. Bizarrely, Sparks have returned to the public eye some 50 years after their initial success with 'This Town Ain't Big Enough' and 'Kimono My House'. They, and most of their peers, declare that 'politics and music don't mix'. Gordon, on the other hand, doesn't agree. His latest uses the public pronouncements of popular despots and prominent sleazebags, whether demented, deluded or frankly bonkers, as the basis for musical compositions. He focuses on the speechifying of popular Sh!ts rather than on the impressive length of their ties, the rumpledness of their blonde hair, the profundity of their bank accounts or the gleam of their bared torsos. Gordon transforms pronouncements by leading Sh!ts (see the CD cover for the full lineup) into musical compositions, recreates Gilbert & Sullivan's 'A Modern Major General' as 'A True Totalitarian' in homage to Vlad the Impaler. Album Tracks 1. No Sweat (Lynx Effect) 2. Booster 3. A True Totalitarian 4. All the Rage 5. What a Caution 6. An Extended Phonecall 7. Dumber Than a Rock 8. Superior Jeans 9. No Greater Dictator 10. Covidiots 11. The Beast of Ankara 12. Will of the People 13. Slawa Ukraini

Martin Gordon - World Is My Lobster - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2007 album from the British songwriter, best known as bassist for early Sparks, Radio Stars, Jet and other related outfits. This Nobel Prize-winning, former stand-in for Charles Atlas and personal friend of James Bond once again lays it fearlessly on the line. He wrestles with 'la condition humane' in his accustomed manner, but will never really come to terms with it. Observe the cover, on which the Lobster of the title bravely struggles with the weight of the imploding and exploding world in the manner of the ancient mythological Greek lobster whose name currently escapes me. It is clear that this is no trite grappling with pop-cultural mores in the time-honored manner of R&B divas and boy bands. This, frankly, is one Lobster that would rather chew it's legs off than line-dance. It has, in a very real but figurative sense, come to redeem the world from it's sins; it is the Lobster of God risen from the deep to absolve the non-crustacean of their earthly burden. It's five minutes to midnight, says the Lobster, and you'd better listen up! Radiant. Album Tracks 1. Pop Goes Bang 2. What Would Jesus Drive? 3. Mirror Mirror 4. He Was the Best 5. Am I Alone? Gilbert & Sullivan 6. A Policeman's Lot Is Not a Happy One Gilbert & Sullivan 7. No Offers at All 8. Don't Do As I Do Do 9. Hey Bulldog Lennon/McCartney 10. My Dog's Got No Nose 11. Less and Less on Earth 12. Just Say Wee 13. No More Limbo 14. Witch Came First 15. It's a Wonderful Life
