I originally purchased the Surface Pro for college use. It is light weight, has great portability, fantastic build quality and amazing battery life. It also has decent performance and does everything I need it to do. The display is amazing and it also boots up fast allowing it to be ready to use within seconds. My only complaint is that it does have it’s laggy moments causing the experience to not be as smooth as I’d like it to be. This is very noticeable on websites and programs that are more cpu intensive. The intel core M3 and 4GB of RAM are most definitely the reason for this. It is by no means unbearable, but it is noticeable. If you’re looking for high performance the intel core M3 version is not for you. If you are looking for a device to access the web, check emails, use Microsoft Office Apps (Word, Excel PowerPoint, etc.) and other basic tasks, than this computer is perfect for you. I find it absolutely perfect for my college use, but if you need something with a bit more performance and want an overall smoother experience, I recommend upgrading to at least the i3 model or a model with 8 GB of ram.

I've been using the Surface for 9 months now and am really happy with it. Pros: It's quick, versatile, easy to use, and does everything I need it to do, really well. I use it primarily for my online graduate program. I'm a big fan of the keyboard and variable positioning of the tablet. Very portable and strong battery life. Cons: Lack of multi-tasking capabilities when using it as a tablet. I rarely use the tablet without the keyboard- you can't have more than one screen up at a time, which I am always doing. No easy way to switch between front-facing and rear-facing camera when using it within a program (skype, FB messenger, etc). I needed to go into the settings and manually deactivate the rear-facing-- don't start a conference call without figuring this out first. I have an iMac, and bought the Surface to replace my aging Chromebook and MacBook Pro. It's been a good replacement and middle ground between the two of those. Not easily comparable to the web-based Chromebook (the Surface is 5x as expensive but opens up all opportunities that require a hard drive). I like the Mac OS and Chrome OS software; Windows 10 hasn't disappointed me, just a different feel. And naturally half the cost (plus) of a Macbook, but, nobody buys Macbooks for their affordability. All in all, I'd make the same decision again and go with the Surface Pro. It's treated me well and been a trusty go-to device.

Overall, I love it. It’s surprisingly quick and powerful, and can keep up with laptops. Easy to use for work and school, but the battery life isn’t great. The Surface Pro is light, portable, and with the type cover it can be a great hybrid laptop/tablet. The touchscreen is fantastic, and it’s awesome to use with the Surface Pen. My biggest complaint was that the kickstand was a lot more annoying than I expected, and it was somewhat of a challenge to get a good camera angle for Zoom/Microsoft Teams calls.

5 years later and I've only had to purchase a keyboard ( because) and a charger cord because my puppy chewed on it! Outlasted its competitor! Will buy again when I need a replacement!

I purchased a Surface Pro last year for myself and my daughter found it to be a very attractive replacement for her old laptop. Seeing a sale on them again, I bought her this version for her. She is a business student so she is not doing anything that needs heavy processing power. She loves the light weight and portability of the Surface Pro and how quickly it boots up and is ready to go. The M3 processor is speedy for all of your normal web and office application needs. My wife has been using my Surface Pro (similar configuration) for a few months with no issues of performance either. So don't feel you have to spend more for the i5 processor if you're not doing anything beyond web-based or Office-type applications.

Have been completely satisfied with this purchase! Love how light weight and user friendly this Surface Pro is. Highly recommend it. Battery life is very good! Bought this right after the latest version was released. Got a great deal on it. Also got a free class offered by Microsoft on how to use it. Very helpful!

This computer provides ample processing speed for 90% of the populations needs including my own. The solid state drive is great for an item that will contently be changing angles with no fear of the hard drive crashing. The type cover and track pad are very responsive and seem to have no issues and the type cover is back-lit. Videos seem to come out clear and web surfing is easy. The only draw back to this item in my opinion is Microsoft's decision to continue to use its own special charging unit, rather than using a USB C port which would allow data transfer and quick charging like many other similar products are moving to. I would suggest buying a USB 3.0 hub as this item only has one USB port.

Bought this as a gift, and have used it a couple of times myself and let me say that this changes the game for how laptops should be used. Super light, easily carried, and has 2 usb ports. The charge last really long a full day, and the memory is great. Super fast. Really beneficial for a student. Not gaming unfortunately

I am a fan of the Surface, own a Pro 3, and when my wife said that she would be interested in a "laptop" I suggested a Surface for her. I shopped Best Buy on-line and found this model on sale for a significant savings and we are both completely satisfied with this choice for her. Same features, speed and quality of operation as the later models. Truly a computer in compact user and travel friendly format.

I really like this laptop. I bought it for college, and with the windows pen it is great for taking notes (especially if you download evernote) but unlike a regular laptop, it’s hard to use in your lap. There are couches all over the place at my college, but i have to find one with a table to use the kickstand functionality with this laptop. Besides that I have no complaints.

I was searching for a decent priced performer. Something that had possible resale value after it becomes older tech. I went with the Surface Pro. It came in a bundle at an amazing price. It included everything. It’s a step above the iPad Pro. It’s got a mouse tracker which Apple grossly left out of their lineup. It’s got full tablet and PC capabilities. It can use a pen with it that conveniently magnetizes on the side. The battery life is exceptional and has expandable memory capabilities which leaves the possibilities on it limitless. The security on it is great and love the facial recognition it incorporates. The only sour note would be that it doesn’t include any Microsoft office programs. It should have at least included the software for it.

To be honest it doesn’t replace my first gen surfacebook but it’s for my dad to use while he travels. I’ve put it through it’s paces. At first I was disappointed with the memory size but I just put a high capacity micro sd and it’s all good. It’s processor is better than most tablets but not as good as full size moderately priced laptop. Battery is good and the keyboard works good. The Full size usb is a snug fit, which I’m happy about. Overall I’m happy but it’s still a little on the pricey side.

I love this laptop! I have a desktop that was very slow. This little laptop loads right up and is very quick with the programs. I basically use it for email and shopping. I also use the Google programs and they work very well. The keyboard is very soft and easy to use. It only has one slot for a USB item. The touch screen is very quick to respond and the feature for using it as a tablet is great.

I purchased the Surface Pro as a replacement for my dying lap top. This one came with a free keyboard. Using apps instead of old style software does not eat a lot of memory. I put a micro SD to back-up my files and I like it because it is expandable. Keyboard feels natural and easy to type. This unit is so much faster than my old lap top. This tablet is more than a laptop with the capability of detaching the keyboard and use it as a tablet. I like this better than my wife's I Pad Pro.

I need something small to travel with since I didn't want to bring my laptop. I also need to have Quickbooks and Office 365 installed and in working condition. Both of which works great. Keyboard is excellent as is the mouse pad. Also getting the m3 instead of the i5 was perfect for me too. Which is unusual for me since I always get the latest and fastest (laptop) I can find. I'm a little concerned about the battery life from what read. Anyway excellent choice over what is available for a windows tablet.

I want to try new thing before the school start on August, this surface is very is easy to set up. I love the face recognition to log in every time the power on. Also, the Microsoft 365 is useful to do homework, and I still have to buy the pen separate. The app, Onenote is awesome as well. I will recommend every one to buy it.
