Exactly what you would expect from a NieR title. Amazing!

A great game. Worth a buy if you've into post Apocalyptic games.

I picked this game up on launch as I was very curious to play it. Nier Automata was the game that got me into the Nier Series. (Phenomenal game which I highly recommend checking out!) Never played the Original Nier, but always wanted to. Bought this game and enjoyed every bit of it. Fantastic story, character writing, music, beautiful visuals, and fun gameplay that heavily reminded me of Automata because they brought in the guy who did the combat for Nier Automata who originally didn't work on the Original Nier. After finishing the game I was able to get a copy of the Original Nier on PS3 and I was amazed how much Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 was improved. I hope in the future they release a DLC to play the whole game as Papa Nier. I would definitely buy it immediately. If you're interested in the Nier Series I highly recommend checking this game out. The story is very engaging and you wont want to put the controller down. Make sure you keep playing the game after finishing the first ending. There's so much more depth to the story and characters as you replay the second half of the game a few times around with a few awesome surprises!

firstly I'm new to Nier series, but have owned previous title Nier Automata but haven't cause I was waiting for this to play first, I know there are previous Nier title before this but I've been told you can start with this one then Automata. First impression....WOW...the music intensify the gameplay in such poetic ways, and the gameplay is SUPER SILKY SMOOTH and its not even playing in PS5 (since that console is lost cause to find in retail store unfortunately, hopefully best buy will be the one to get it). I didn't had any expectations tbh but so far its been mind blowing with graphics, story, gameplay and if ones were to play this then you must play with Japanese VoiceOver it does justice with English subtitle. its highly recommended by any newcomer.

Nier Automata didn't wow me like many others. Probably because I didn't play this game first and appreciate all the throwbacks to the original. This game is amazing. The first few hours can be a slog, but starts picking up momentum. Much like Nier Automata, absolutely DO NOT stop playing after the credits roll the first time. The game has 5 different endings. Your second playthrough has a host of new story content and cutscenes. The new ending "E" is apparently an all new experience, haven't made it there yet. The combat has been revamped to feel more like Nier Automata, The music is probably one of the best scores I've heard, the story is wonderful, and the characters are really likeable. Prepare to cry, I'm serious.

Best Buy originally didnt include Preorder bonus but eventually got it to me! This game is awesome! Very good visuals, soundtrack, story, environments, and characters. The gameplay is similar to automata. its pretty decent, not the best ive seen but definitely better looking than the original PS3 version in my opinion. I didnt play the original myself or finish automata but still was able to follow along and have fun with nier replicant. After finishing this one Ill probably go back and finish automata finally.

Although this game originally came out for the PS3 and shows some age, this remake introduces fans to what started it all for those who originally missed it. Although not as good as Nier Automata, Replicant offers interesting themes, characters, and scenarios which get you thinking. The game is definitely worth playing and seeing all the endings is worth it, while the story's twists and turns will keep you guessing. The gameplay is not as refined as Automata but this is to be expected.

I got the PC version of NieR Replicant on launch day and had issues with it since the game didn't support high refresh rates. Since then I had refunded the game. I had a few BestBuy Gift cards lying around so I put it towards the PS4 version of the game and bought it. I must say I was not disappointed. The game runs as good as the Nier Automata version for consoles (Albeit the PC version is now massively better due to a recent update which overhauled the textures and performance). However keep in mind this game does not have PS4 Pro support so the game will still be running like a stock PS4 and locked to 30 FPS. That said this wasn't as much as an issue for me. Gameplay feels more polished than Nier Automata to me but that's a given since the game was released quite a bit later than the game. However this game is a remake of the Original Nier made in 2010. I am not going to go in depth about the story as to not spoil the game and I am still playing through it. However I recommend you pickup the game during a sale and would be worth it for around $30 to $40.

If you’re a fan of the original Nier or a newcomer that began with Automata there is a lot to like about Replicant. Yoko Taro and his themes of existentialism become more clear the more times you replay the game. There are multiple fetch quests that will likely bore most people but the payoff is wonderful as they all breathe insight into the world and provide some lovely perspective from the characters assigning them. The music is top notch with certain tracks worming their way into your head. Replicant comes with the ability to replace a few themes with Automata tracks that make subsequent playthroughs a little different. The voice acting is pretty good for the most part with only a few lines sounding over dramatic or phoned in. The graphics are gorgeous and the gameplay, I felt, is a bit tighter than Automata but without the depth. Bottom line is if you’re wanting an action RPG that provides an interesting story then Replicant offers that in spades. Good and bad I think Replicant is worth the price of admission and can only hope we get more Nier games in the future.

Love this series. Beautiful soundtrack, nice environments and great story/characters. Combat is fun and fluid. Very happy with this game (Not a factor in score but I want to share nevertheless) Best Buy came through with the pre-order DLC after the initial debacle left many fans disappointed. Hats off to Best Buy customer service for seeing that through.

despite not getting the pre order bonus, this is the most fun i’ve had with games in awhile. the controls of this game feels so great and the gameplay is just a part of what makes this game whole. the music is fantastic while the story is just as good. i don’t have any complaints to be completely fair

I have not played the original so I cannot compare the two. My review is based on this game alone. As of 5/7/21, I've played 12 hours and I've enjoyed every bit of it. The soundtrack is fantastic, the story and characters are great. My only compliant is that the combat is slightly repetitive and the difficulty seems too easy. That said, I'm not playing on the hardest difficulty. Overall, I would definitely see myself playing this game several times over.

I wasn’t a fan Automata but gave this one a try anyway and I’m glad I did. The story is engaging and gameplay very fluid. It’s not perfect as it is a remaster of an older game but a lot of effort went into it. The game is fully voiced now for example. The music is sooo good too!

One of my favorite games, and I still haven’t played Automata. The story, music, characters, gameplay, levels, and general tone are amazing. This is a bit old school PS3 design game but modernized and super fun to play through! Fast shipping!

Not too bad of an experience. Starts off very strong and honestly holds that excitement for majority of the run time, but for me at least, the end of the game starts to feel like it drags a bit. All in all, an awesome title.

If you enjoyed Nier Automata, then I definitely think that you will enjoy this prequel. Nier Replicant isn't as challenging as the previous Nier and that's not a bad thing. The combat mechanics are fluid and offer plenty of variations depending on how you want it. The story is engaging and had me invested in the characters and their development. I won't spoil what unfolds. It's an open world which means that you are going to be running around. A lot. There is an option for limited fast travel that unlocks later but as I said, it's limited. I mention this because the running back and forth through the areas becomes a tad tiresome eventually whereas in Automata, it didn't. Also, this isn't a game that you will fully complete in a week, there are several endings that are the result of you collecting weapons and other items. The soundtrack is amazing and compliments the narrative with the emotional surprises that are revealed. If you never played Nier Automata, then you won't be lost as this is a prequel but there are some neat foreshadowing moments if you played the previous game.

The story is great at expanding NieR's lore. Game runs smooth and keeps the NieR aesthetic. Recommend to anyone who enjoyed NieR Automata and can't wait to see what comes next for the series.

While the sequel Nier:Automata improves upon this one in every way, it doesn't mean this one isn't worth playing. This remaster of a ten year old game is well worth your time. It shows it's age in some areas, but in other ways is timeless. The hack and slash gameplay combined with bullet-hell shooter mechanics is a delight. The music is especially enchanting and unique, and it sticks with after you've turned the game off. If you liked Automata pick this up, but if you haven't played Automata pick that up since it's probably cheap, but expect to be drawn to this one afterwards.
