Chopin himself had given the answer in 1831 InchPleyel's instruments are the non plus ultraInch! The choice for the recording therefore fell on a Pleyel fortepiano, built 1848 in Paris and expertly restored using historical materials and methods. It is absolutely identical in construction to the instrument that Chopin owned, and thus represents an authentic sound testimony. For acoustic reasons of the sound of the origi nal instruments, the Oberstrass Church in Zurich (1st Piano Concerto) and the Vienna Musikverein in Vienna (2nd Piano Concerto) were chosen as recording venues. The orchestras InchLa ScintillaInch conducted by Riccardo Minasi and the InchWiener AkademieInch conducted by Martin Haselböck also played on historical instruments. We hear in each case the historical versions by Jan Ekier. Margarita Höhenrieder's careful recreation of the authentic Chopin sound gives the listener highly interesting insights into music history. The recording location was also of particular importance the Mazurkas on the were recorded on this instrument, in a room comparable to a salon from around the middle of the 19th century. The orchestra InchLa Scintilla Inch also played on period instruments under the direction of Riccardo Minasi. The recording of the E minor concerto with the historical version by Jan Ekier then took place on another Pleyel of about the same year of construction, in the acoustically outstanding Oberstrass church in Zurich. Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra - Piano Concertos & Symphonies - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

More and more music lovers are discovering Antonio Rosetti, Mozart's contemporary from Wallerstein in Bavaria. After a number of horn concertos and a few delightful symphonies, these are the two first piano concertos to be released; one of them - also a rarity - was composed by Rosetti together with his pupil Nanette von Schaden. A Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra with delight in playing, a soloist (Nerine Barrett) who hits Rosetti's timbre most perfectly, and a conductor who clearly cares about this music are the features of this recording. A must for every music collection. (customer review) Inch the sound of the TACET recording is of demonstration quality... The notes, by Sterling E. Murray, president of the International Rosetti society, are very thorough. The performances are first-class. As expected, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra is well polished. Johannes Moesus is a young German conductor of considerable quality. He is also president of the International Rosetti society. I have not previously encountered pianist Nerine Barrett. A Jamaican, she has studied and performed widely according the notes. Certainly her performances here indicate we should be hearing more from her (...) Anyone interested in Rosetti is well advised to obtain both recordings.Inch (Fanfare)
