Great Cordless home phone with Bluetooth features

I replaced my home phone with this Panasonic cordless phone that has all the features that I needed for the home landline. It was easy to install and set up, the Bluetooth pairing with my headphones was a plus for me that way I can make phone calls without holding the cordless phone and the calls are as clear as when I use my headphones with my cellphone. This Panasonic also have lots of great features like bright backlit display illuminated keypad with big numbers, Auto robo call block, English/ Spanish talking caller ID, speakerphone, digital answer machine, it can be expanded with other 6 handsets and you can use the speakerphone as a Baby Monitor. The battery last long as expected. I really enjoy this phone that includes telemarketing call block settings and it can be set up to one ring scam alert as well as Silent mode. I connected two headphones to this cordless phone. This model includes: Base with digital answering machine & 1 headset Ac adapter Telephone line cord 2 Rechargeable Ni-MH batteries Wall mount adaptor

A great cordless phone for those who need one

Telephone landlines are slowly becoming extinct nowadays with the advent of cell phones. Still it has its purposes. In my case I work at home and I still find a need for a landline for fax communication for documents (Email arguably is not HIPPA compliant.) So of course, I have an all-in-one printer for that. That said the land line subscription that I pay for my home office is way underutilized. Here comes the Panasonic KX-TGD890 cordless phone. Cordless phones as we all know have been around for two to three decades and not much have change then Basically it is old tech. Still the Panasonic KX-T6D890 still has its virtues. First is that like all all cordless phones, it has a base and can be expandable by purchasing separate handsets. Needless to say there are variants where several handsets are bundled with the main unit. The unit being reviewed is only for the single variant model. The main features of this cordless phone include the following: 1) It has a digital answering machine. This may be a no brainer but most telcos nowadays put an additional charge for voice mail services. This built-in feature saves you money obviously; 2) This model boasts of long battery life for its handsets. But what is not noted in the box is that it uses rechargeable AAA batteries instead of proprietary batteries. This makes things simpler since should the batteries get worn out, they can be easily replaced; 3) It has a full duplex speakerphone. This feature is standard in all cellphones, so this is also a must in cordless phone; 4) It has a talking caller id function which is also bilingual. This for me is a nifty feature as you don’t have to look at the handset to know who’s calling; 5) It has an auto Robo Call block which is a feature not found in most cordless handset not even in my older Panasonic cordless phone this model will replace. Of course there is Nomorobo, but the additional protection for spam calls is always a welcome feature; and 6) It has also Bluetooth capabilities. And though this may be a feature not everyone needs, I find it very useful as I can pair my headphones with the landline thereby freeing my hands during conversations. In other words I can multi-task while discussing things with clients and fellow remote workers. There’s really no more for me to really discuss the “virtues” of this phone as this phone is perfect for someone Iike me who works from home and has a need for a landline. I would highly recommend this phone.!

Portable handset answering machine landline phone

My home telephone is no longer connected via a copper landline. It is a cellullar equivalent. I prefer the convenience of the cordless handset. Panasonic's DECT 6.0 comes with the base station answering unit and one handset. I have a older version. Both allow for adding more satellite units for whole house coverage. One in each room, without needing to run dedicated wires to each room. The answering machine plugs into my Straight Talk cellular unit. The handset can pair, via Bluetooth, with six wireless headsets or earbuds. This is great but I wish the unit worked like other DECT phones that pair with my cell phone. Too bad it doesn't as this is where they disappointed me. Here are the features I love. It has the ability to BLOCK 65,000 spa numbers I deemed annoying. The handset can speed dial nine of my top called numbers. Easy to program too. My contact list can store the persons or business number an their name, which is announced when they call me. The batteries are standard AAA rechargeable batteries, which are easier to purchase and replace. Wireless range is amazing. Voice quality is clean and adjustable if you take the time to read and follow the noise canceling portion of the user manual. Speaker phone function is also aweome, clear and easy to use. If you desire, the phone can be answered via a voice command from a few feet away. There are so many features built into the base station and wireless handset.

A New Twist on a Familiar Product

The Panasonic – KX-TGD890S DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone System is the quality that many have come to expect of an expandable phone and answering system for Land Lines. Panasonic has had various models of this phone and with each seem to try to perfect upon the previous release. The Voice Clarity is very good, a speakerphone is easily accessed when needed, the Intelligent Eco mode helps to preserve the battery life, the push of a button on the handset can be used to block spam calls from coming through again, and it is a very easy to use all of the Answering Machine features. Like many of the previous and similar models, this phone also allows for the addition of a total of 6 handsets. There is a new feature that I personally have not seen before and that is the ability of this model to have 2-way recording, and to be able to announce that it is recording to the caller. This recording feature most definitely discourages some spam and abusive calls when the caller hears that they are being recorded. To help cut down on spam, the phone is also equipped with a One-ring scam alert. The difference in this model and any of the previous and similar telephone devices is that this particular model also allows for use of Bluetooth headphones with the handset. This new feature that has been added to a solid product that works well, is very easy to implement and is only a matter of pairing one’s particular headphone or earbuds to the handset device. Pairing headphones or earbuds is a very simple process if the headset or earbuds support Hands Free Profile or HFP, which most do. Up to four different headphones can be paired to the handset, but only one can be used at any given time. I found it easy to answer with the ear pods and to switch between handset and headphone. In this case to pair the headphones, ear pods that I am most comfortable with, I pushed a pairing button on the headphone case and held it while I also pushed the PAIR button on the handset for a good three seconds. I continued to hold the button down on the EarPods case and then heard a beep that notified me that my headphones/EarPods were now paired to the Panasonic Headset. Being able to move back and forth between handset and headphone, or using the headphone with the cellular phone and still be hands free to listen to music on another Bluetooth device is very convenient. If you are still using a land line at either work or home, I would recommend this in either situation. It is a seamless integration that has evolved through the natural process from the way we as humans work and live with technology.

Works well and has some nice extra features

Acquiring the Panasonic phone was an interesting experience. The shipping box it arrived in was used, unsealed and large enough to hold 25 phones. I was concerned that the packing (or lack of) had damaged the phone. I also noticed that the box containing the phone itself looked like it had been opened and resealed. In spite of a rough arrival, the phone did work surprisingly well. I have Centurylink service for both phone and dial-up internet. This requires putting a filter between every phone line and phone jack. I first installed the Panasonic phone without the filter, but found that as with my AT&T phones, no filter meant no internet connection. With the filter in place, the calls were clear and there was no distortion, hissing or echoing. The phone has some features my current phones don’t have. It can be connected to wireless headphones for hands free talking and it has a Call Block function. Phone numbers from unwanted callers can be manually entered into the Call Block list. Additionally, numbers can be blocked by pressing the Call Block button when a call is coming in, when a message is being recorded by the answering system or when talking to the caller. There is also an automated call block feature that can block robocalls and telemarketers before the phone rings. I have Centurylink “no solicitation” activated on my landline phones which eliminates 99.9% of robo and telemarketer calls but if I didn't have that, I would definitely use Call Block. I also have Centurylink voicemail which requires dialing *98 and then pressing 1 to retrieve voicemails. With the Panasonic phone the base showed a red light to indicate a new voicemail and all I had to do to access it was to press Play. The Missed Calls function shows the date, time and the caller’s name/number and I was able to call that number back by selecting the entry. There was one little glitch. All phone numbers, including local ones, come in with a 1 before the area code. When I did the redial, I got a message that it was not necessary to dial 1 and please try again. There is a way to fix that but it is a little complicated. Some other features are a verbal low battery alert, handset noise reduction to reduce background noise at a caller’s location, call recording, talking caller ID and the ability to answer incoming calls by voice command. The screen is clear and bright and the prompts are easy to maneuver. Since my headphones are still on order I wasn't able to test that feature but I can say that this is a step above a basic phone and that it is compatible with Centurylink landline service.
