We still love our 2008 Honda Odyssey, but were eager to update the electronics to include CarPlay. This Pioneer went on sale, so we jumped in. Integration was very simple and the features on this unit go on for days! Love having the backup camera on a nice big screen and HD Radio adds lots of new stations here in Nashville. The sound quality of the unit is awesome. It's gotten many compliments from my wife, who spends a lot of time behind the wheel. The startup is definitely slower than the non-smart factory unit, but not terrible. Maybe :15 sec? I used the auto-eq and level adjustment with a mic and it made some slight improvements. Sounded good already, so this wasn't a big change. The default EQ of "powerful" is actually really good. I tend to prefer flatter sound that is more natural, but this works really well. Of course CarPlay is great. Having used it in various rental cars, I was glad to have it at our fingertips for our holiday travel this year. Worked flawlessly. We still use lots of CDs from the library, so having an in-dash disc player was important. We are not using the DVD feature, so no comment there. I've definitely recommended this one to all my friends since we installed it. Big upgrade for older vehicles!

This does everything the way I would expect it to, and works well. The layout is pretty intuitive. So far has been very reliable. I have an android phone and the Android Auto feature works very well, much nicer than just using a phone holder! Bluetooth also rock solid and good range. Compared to the stock radio everything is louder and seems clearer, to be fair I didn't have a 3.5mm or bluetooth on the factory radio. Big difference though is the HD radio, definitely a better signal than what I was getting. The screen is visible most of the time. I say this because when the sun is shining and I have the sunroof open the screen gets really washed out, I can still read it though. I was completely unable to see the factory display in this condition so it's an improvement for me. My main complaint is that it does not have physical forward/back buttons. If you have steering wheel controls this isn't an issue. I do find that I have to take my eyes off the road for a split second sometimes to hit the on screen button. I'm not saying it is a deal breaker, but physical buttons that I could locate without looking would be an improvement. The backup camera is also working as it should which is great because I used to have no clue what was going on behind my car... Overall great radio and would recommend.

This HU was installed using the wiring harness and Steering Wheel Controls (SWC) along with the mounting and trim hardware from SpiralAudio.com to retain OEM functionality and appearance. Also installed a Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera which I tucked up under the trim piece above the rear license plate. Routing the cable safely inside the trunk lid and through the existing flexible wiring holder, around the convertible top mechanism, under the passenger door sill trim, behind the glove box, and into the HU cavity was the most time-consuming task. The Pioneer ND-BC8 has both an RCA Video plug and the ground and 12V fused feed at the dashboard end of the cable. Standard the 2007 Saab Aero comes with two amplifiers, one for the FL, FR, RL, and RR speakers, the other for the 12-inch woofer behind the back seat for a total of 300 Watts. The Pioneer HU was unleashed latent sound quality and amplitude that just was not there with the OEM HU!! IT’S LOUD!! Overall, the head unit is exceptionally good and has great functionality like HD Radio, iPod integration, Android Auto, 2 camera inputs, and so on. My only criticism that cost the review one star is that the screen just isn’t bright enough, especially in a convertible. I bought this HU mainly on availability, most HUs are out of stock/on backorder due to the pandemic-induced supply chain issues, and I wasn’t going to spend $800 on a $199 list price HU!! Apart from the lack of screen brightness, this is a great HU and camera duo.

First off, dont be like me - dont buy this if you havent tried it out in person, and didnt realize that there are literally NO buttons. At all. 0. the icons displayed in the picture are LED lights and nothing else. Sound quality from this pioneer head unit is phenomenal, really wanted to love it, install was pretty straight forward, despite the fact that the manual makes a wiring pin out basically non-existent. This is one of the few units with built in HD radio, and the FM tuner sounds fantastic. The equalizer similarly sounds great and really made my 15 year old Porsche speaker system come to life, even with a fiber optic to RCA adapter stripping away the "advanced" features of my Bose speakers. Heres an install tip, look up the owners manual for most modern Sony units, the wiring harness that comes with them uses the same colored wires as pioneer for the same exact functions. Follow Sony's diagram if you need to wire it up yourself. Much easier. Apply carplay connection was quick, setup was fast, menu is very intuitive and easy to use. No clue on android auto, dont have one to try but Im sure its just as good. the screen looks great too, and the touch screen makes gesturing and swiping as easy and smooth as most current phones. BUT - and there's a big but here, for anyone who lives in the cold, this isnt for you. A capacitive touch screen responds to heat from your hands, which you cannot transfer with gloves on. I tried hard to find a universal steering wheel controls setup to pair with this, and due to this being a newer unit, it lacks the the necessary ports for wiring in a hard-wired remote, that could be wirelessly sent over with a generic steering wheel control. Its horrible because the tech is already in the radio, it even comes with a traditional remote in the box, but thats useless while you're driving due to the tiny buttons. The edge to edge display looks great but when driving makes volume or any other controls impossible to find without taking your eyes off the road. If you have steering wheel controls native to your car, you can probably get away with this, but if you're like me, without those, the honey moon period will end quickly on this product as soon as you realize that its dangerously distracting just to change the volume or skip a song.

I installed this in my 2009 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited to replace the factory radio. I also installed the iDatalink Maestro module to retain all of the factory original features and was required in order to control front to rear fade as I kept the factory Infinity amplifier. The Maestro also gives me an engine gauge screen on the new Pioneer, tire pressure, door status, battery voltage, and engine error code display/reset via the ODB connector. I also replaced all of the factory speakers. JBL Harman components in the front, JBL coaxials in sound bar, and a Pioneer low profile sub in the rear. Finally I also installed a backup camera which is displayed on the Pioneer screen. So far I love the Pioneer head unit. Amazing sound quality, great features. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Android Auto is really cool. Allows me to run Waze navigation and other apps like Pandora when my phone is plugged into the Pioneer USB port. My only complaints, thus the 4 stars: (1) Wish there were two USB ports, keep switching between USB thumb drive loaded with music files and my phone for navigation. (2) Control buttons on left side are rather small. Overall a great radio and great price! Was $450 but got it on sale for $299. TIP: The Metra dash install/trim kit I used has very soft/cheap plastic, cracks easily. I've read that Scosche makes a better quality one and will pursue that brand for future installs.

I compared products from all different brands for 2 weeks and this was the one I decided to go with. This product works great for my 2015 JK Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I replaced 4 of the speakers with JBLs and the tweeters and amp are Alpine and the quality of sound is perfect for my ears with this product. The best feature is the Apple CarPlay. You plug it in with your charger through an adapter and it will mirror your phone on the display. If you’re debating on a cheaper style, just know that Apple CarPlay is worth every penny, especially for the navigation feature. You can customize the screen, turn the display off when it’s not in CarPlay (I do this because the screen can be too bright sometimes but you still can listen to music while it’s off) and watch Dvds too. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the buttons on the front are too small. All the reviews I’ve read for Pioneer mention the small buttons, so it’s not a shock that I am too. Don’t let this be the deciding factor though, because you’ll get over the buttons being small. To adapt, I just pause the music if someone’s talking instead of trying to turn it down with the buttons. Also, there’s a microphone and remote that comes with it. I learned about the microphone after I got in my Jeep after BestBuy installed everything, because it’s just chilling on my dashboard now, but it can be placed elsewhere in different vehicles. One last thing, the price came out to $500 because you have to purchase the harnesses along with it at the store. I say this because I thought it all came together in the box.

I’ve had this unit for about a month and love it! Super easy to use and has really awesome features. With Apple Car Play you can use either Apple Maps or Google Maps which is really nice! Super easy to sync with your phone. I have a 2017 Toyota Camry and it looks way better and has a way bigger screen than the stock unit! Definitely recommend!

I bought this unit for the wireless carplay and sleek look, but the experience has been less than stellar. Saying that, when it works, it's brilliant. I haven't really bothered with any of the features outside of Carplay as the UI is extremely cumbersome and the hotspot setup is a pain. Carplay is where the trouble starts however, nine times out of ten it will not start automatically on boot-up, which leads to a trip through several clicks of the base system. I'd rather have saved my money and spent the time it takes getting to Carplay by just plugging into a non-wireless sytem. I also don't understand why these new NEX systems don't offer the ability to customize the splash screen, but that's not too much of a concern. Probably the biggest issue with this system are its touch buttons. In the event that you actually manage to hit the small touch window that activates any of the switches, there is substantial lag in any operation. Adjusting volume is an absolute nightmare and best left to the remote that comes bundled with the device (or steering wheel controls should you be so equipped). Otherwise the system is decent and gets the job done, the screen is bright and even in my convertible in direct sunlight is legible. If you can do without wireless carplay, I'd save the money and get another unit. This simply isn't worth the premium for an otherwise lackluster device. Once they sort out the software bugs that may change though.

Pioneer is known for quality. It’s really a great car play. I bought DMH-2660NEX which is similar to DMH-2770NEX except that the carplay is witeless in 2770. They both are on sale prices for $349.99. I think sometimes the wireless could be the problem so I depend on wired car play. This fit my Highlander 2012 limited with no GBL and no navigation. This is also available at Crutchfield but remember the basic installation is free at Best Buy. The additional installation of backup camera connectivity and wheel audio controls connection installation are charged. You have to buy the accessories like double din and some connections harnesses. Those are available at Best Buy if not the at Crunchfield. The Best Buy sites guide you about your car model etc to let you know if it’s compatible. The same you can verify on Crutchfield site as well. The Crutchfield prices are same as Best Buy but the basic installation is free at Best Buy and it’s a great service which is backed up by the lifetime warranty on it. You can take the car back to them if there is any issue with the device and installation. Call the Best Buy customer service that handles the sells of car play and appointments. They guide you to let you know what accessories are required and buy those before you make an appointment. The service person was very knowledgeable and he returned the additional accessories thst bought in case if they may be needed. The installation was done in an hour and I am greatly pleased with their service. I will suggest to go to Best Buy instead of the dealer or any other local shop.

Let me start by saying that I had been getting spoiled with Apple CarPlay, in my work truck. So when my stock deck was failing (2010 Prius), I felt that I needed something with CarPlay. This deck seemed to click all of the boxes for my requirements (CarPlay, Bluetooth, HD Radio, etc). I had Best Buy do the install, figured I’d save myself any potential headaches. I couldn’t be happier with this deck. It is awesome, I’ve had zero issues with it. The only cons would be: Maps won’t work from your phone, solely through Bluetooth (but there is a USB to plug into). The back up camera takes a bit to show up after starting the car (I believe the deck is just going through a boot sequence), but you are able to activate it through a sub menu. The microphone seems to pick up a lot of car noise when using the phone. Nothing that I listed as a con takes away from the awesomeness of this deck (for me), just listing some things in case others had concerns. I would absolutely recommend both this deck and the Best Buy install. Thanks.

Great price for what you get. I was originally going to get the Sony radio but I saw all the positive reviews for the 2660nex radio so I purchased this system instead. HD radio, Siriusxm and Bluetooth sounds great through the speakers. Feels like i'm listening through new speakers. I definitely recommend getting this product.

My last headunit was too old for car play in my 2008, so just upgraded to this and been so happy with it! Easy install/wiring myself. Sounds great and nice to have Spotify and maps in the car now!

I bought this unit and had it installed by Best Buy in early November of 2021. Almost three months later and I have to say that it was money well spent. The touch screen is very responsive and the Android auto/apple carplay works like a charm. As soon as I plug my Android into my car's USB port, it automatically switches to the Android auto on the unit. The microphone that comes with it is a neat feature as well, although I find that it's not always that good at registering what I'm trying to say. I noticed that the volume settings are pretty customizable, as you can customize things like the bass. I also like how you can customize the background and background color of the unit, as well as the color of the buttons on the unit. There's actually a color slider that allows you to choose which specific color you want the buttons to be if you don't like any of the preset colors. In terms of cons, I recently encountered a bug where the Android auto wouldn't show up on the unit when I plugged in my phone, as the unit would just show a dark screen. I would shut off my car's engine and turn it back on and the android auto still wouldn't show up, as all I would see is the same dark screen. This only happened once though so far, and I've been able to use Android auto since then without that bug happening again, almost as if the issue somehow fixed itself. Hopefully, that was just a one time thing. The only other con I could think of is the fact that there's no volume knob, as the volume buttons are a little small. It would be a bigger issue for me if I didn't have the steering wheel controls hooked up to the unit. This was my first Pioneer but I'm very impressed with the system and the brand overall. I see why Pioneers are so commonly used in my area, and would 10/10 recommend this particular head unit.

I purchased my Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX at Best Buy a couple of months ago from their Westminster, CA, store where it was also professionally installed by their team via an appointment. So far, it works flawlessly, and exactly as advertised. The install process took about 1 1/2 hours for my 2005 Toyota Camry, roughly as anticipated. I had purchased, separately, from another source, the steering wheel control harness, and a USB port that replaces the never-used dashboard cigarette lighter. They did not complain about installing those separate items, and did a great job. I strongly recommend the steering wheel control harness be installed, since it avoids having to reach over to the touch screen when adjusting volume, changing mode, and advancing to the next selection. Also, the USB port is a very nice touch, and now I keep a USB stick plugged into it that contains my favorite tunes, music videos, and other audio/visual files. I have an Android phone, and it reliably and quickly connects with the unit's Bluetooth-enabled Android Auto with my phone in my pocket. All of the phone's Android Auto-enabled functions work flawlessly on the Pioneer unit. This includes GPS navigation, Apps such as Spotify, iHeartRadio, phone, Pandora, weather, texts, Audacy, Messenger, etc., etc. The built-in Siri works great. Phone conversations come through loud and clear to the car's speakers, and the mic that they installed is unobtrusively located just below the speedometer, so as to be as close as possible to the driver's mouth. There are no exposed wires for that or anything else. I did not opt for a backup camera, but you can have them install one if you choose to have one. Videos on the Pioneer are sharp and clear thanks to the more than adequate 720P resolution and bright LED screen. The installers also complied with the law by wiring the unit so that video on the dashboard screen cannot be watched unless the parking brake is on, for driver safety. But if you choose to add a screen for the back seat passengers, they can continue to watch video while the car is moving. Either way, the audio portion continues to play, even in the front, while driving. It's okay with me, and what is fun is playing a music video, and at a red light, engaging the emergency brake to watch the video while awaiting a green light. As a result, sometimes I almost wish that the red light would last a bit longer. My only criticism, and a minor one, is that the upper left on-screen selector icon can be a bit difficult to activate, so I end up sometimes having to press it multiple times before it works. The icon's very small size makes it a somewhat difficult target for your finger, especially while driving. But again, it's really just a minor annoyance.

So happy with this purchase! I have a 2013 Toyota Corolla and wanted a new receiver that I can get apple CarPlay. The sound when I have my iPhone connected is amazing and the quality is so much better! I had Best Buy install it and honestly I didn’t even look at the manual afterwards to figure something out, it’s pretty easy to navigate without looking it up.

Amazing head unit that’s loaded with features! I have a 08 Trailblazer SS that was in serious need of an update when it came to audio and modern functionality. Got a harness and this head unit from Best Buy and honestly I love the performance. Was able to tune the crossfade, so that the factory speakers can play at the right levels. CarPlay makes the car like new, and the hands free functionality makes it a safe ride when responding back to texts while driving back with the baby. Would recommend!!

I upgraded my old pioneer with the newer DMH-2660 NEX. I’m very old school and I like my CDs, but it was time to move on from risking more damage to them. And honestly I don’t regret it. With the latest technology of signal and sound, this does the exact job I wanted it to do. With the HD tuner, radio stations come in sounding like never before. Or with the Bluetooth capabilities, I can stream my downloaded music or other media like Sirius Xm exceptionally clear. And the Apple CarPlay absolutely brings a whole new dimension to my driving experience, and my Prius a bit more cooler.

I upgraded my 2010 Toyota Camry with this unit and love all the new features. Apple Carplay and Android Auto run great with me and my wife's phone (10 max and Pixel 2XL). I did a self install. If you're going this route I recommend searching through YouTube for your vehicle and seeing if anyone else has performed a install on that type of vehicle. I also found out that OEM steering controls do not work if you just buy the receiver and install. You have to purchase an adapter for that. Self installs require knowledge of electrical wiring. If you know nothing about electrical wiring there's a vast amount of resources available on YouTube. I also recommend going to Crutchfield and purchasing a $10 receiver and speaker guide for your car. It helped me safely take out all my panels without breaking any plastic clips. You will have to do your homework the self install but it is very rewarding and fun learning the process. I do need to mention that I had to grind down my mounting kit from Metra to fit this receiver. Just something to keep in mind. You will have to adapt to certain situations and figure out on your own. Lastly, since I had everything apart I just installed front and rear 6x9 and added a backup cam. Was well worth it. Only con with this receiver is the auto dimmer does not work correctly. During the day visibility of the screen is not very good. It needs to be brighter. I might just need to set that manually, but haven't yet.

this review is for the pioneer stereo (head unit) wiring harness and frame. The pioneer avh 5050 nex is a quality product. The sound is crisp ( but not noticeably better than my stock radio) my OEM radio CD changer broke, and I didn't have BT which was the nudge I needed to upgrade. The pioneer 5050 has android auto which in effect gives me a outstanding voice control google NAV and GPS, and access to the google suite. BB handle the free install and the unit fits and looks great. Switching between sources is quick and seamless, just about all functions can be controlled from the screen. I also own a 2012 lexus with NAV and in all honesty the pioneer voice controls work better. The entire upgrade cost about $750.00, IMO well worth the cost.

A welcome (and relatively economical) update to a pre-Bluetooth car, I was already a subscriber to Sirius XM with a car adapter, but I wanted to do away with all the attendant wiring, and also wanted to have hands-free telephone and play music from my phone. This radio did this, and more. For example, I did not connect the front or rear camera feeds. Perhaps later. The one downside is that Apple CarPlay is available only through the iPhone charging cable, which means the iPhone has to be accessible, rather than in a pocket or purse. Pioneer has higher-priced radios that include Bluetooth CarPlay, but at substantially higher prices. I recommend Geeksquad installation to assure that things like steering wheel audio controls are configured correctly. I’m perfectly satisfied!
