Nice Enough, Great for Price

I give these 5 stars for value, 4 stars for sound, 3 stars for the snap wring debacle, 4 stars overall. Mounted these in 2004 Lincoln LS with 6x8s in the doors so I have 2 sets of these, front and rear. I am also running the 6x9 as mid-sub on the rear deck, which I reviewed separately. I am running and Excelon head unit. Construct: I realize that speaker science has come a long way, but these are a bit on the flimsy side and the magnet is itty bitty. The spacer ring is basically worthless and I scrapped them for foam between the top of the speaker and the door panel. Performance: These are rate at 90db, I did not test, so can't confirm, and maybe they are still burning in, but they do take a bit more umph to get moving than that rating suggests. As these are 2-way, the midtones are a bit wanting, and the highs are just okay. I do have a hearing impairment so I have to drive the upper range, but still, these fall a bit flat. If you are trying to drive these hard, with heavy rock, they seem to do well. I have an eclectic range of interests including audio books that are full-cast movie in the mind sort of stuff, and they handle those well enough. Summary: For the price, I am happy with the purchase. They fit in the doors without any modifications, save the aforementioned foam vs spacer. I'd like to see a little more sound to wattage output. If youre expectations are right going in, these will work great, but don't expect these to perform like speakers costing 2-5 times as much, thats not realistic.

In general, you want to match the continuous output of the amplifier to the nominal power of the speakers.
You would want an amplifier that can provide about 85 watts, to a 4-ohm speaker.

These speakers are much better than orginal equipment in my Mustang. Installed in rear deck. Thevbass is deeper and i hear high end just enough to have vocals in the acoustic center of the car

Replacement for stock speakers in 2004 Ranger XLT

Used these to upgrade the sound of my sons 2004 Ranger XLT. Two in the front (door) and two in the rear). They fit directly into the openings and I had all 4 changed in less then an hour. I did not use an amp so there is not a huge difference over the old stock speakers but definitely an improvement. Plus if we decide to add an amp in the future these can handle that and will really shine. Plus they happened to be on sale, down to 75.00 a pair from the normal 100.00 per pair.
